Throwback Thursday - Stripping the Sub

#TBT to Stripping the Sub!!!!!
When I was writing the Stronghold Doms, this was one of the books I was most looking forward to because I could not WAIT to get to Ellie's story of healing. I knew, from the moment I introduced her, who she was, what she'd gone through, and that she was going to be getting her HEA with Master Michael.
This book does come with TW for discussion of a past assault/rpe though it's not depicted in the book.
Leading up to this book, a lot of the other characters had guessed a little bit about Ellie and talked about it. We saw lots of her and Master Michael kinda circling around each other. Found out that they'd known each other in the past.
In some ways this was both one of my easiest and hardest books to write. Michael and Ellie fit together SO well, but I also had to get through a lot of real life issues that can be hard to handle. I used a lot of conversations I've actually had with my friends and husband as the basis for the conversations in the books. Sadly, I also used a lot of the experiences I and my friends have had as basis for what each of the characters has been through, including Ellie.
This was such an important book for me. One that I knew was going to be difficult material but that I wanted to write anyway. I actually like to tackle some kind of issue in pretty much all of my books, but it's usually a little more subtle (in Sassy Sub, it was Angel having a bunch of close guy friends and that being OKAY and not creating an actual love triangle, Taming the Tease was a curvy heroine who loved her body, Mastering Lexie was my take on big brother's best friend, Breaking the Chain was toxic exes, Bound to the Past was about falling back in love - not never having fallen out of it).
This one felt pretty in your face. And I did worry that people wouldn't want to read about such serious subject matter in a kink book. What ended up happening was that I got so many messages and emails after the book came out, thanking me for it and readers sharing some of their own experiences. Which both warmed my heart that it meant something to them and made me incredibly sad how many people were touched by the book because they'd had their own experiences.
To this day, I think this might be one of the most important books I've ever written.

Dungeon Showdown is Coming Soon!

Only a few more weeks till my second Domme book! And this one is a Dom vs Domme showdown =D (Hence the title LOL)

What happens when one Dom desires another?
A showdown!
Dungeon Showdown by @goldeniangel is coming February 10th!
Preorder Now: https://geni.us/DungeonShowdown
It's available on all platforms!
In this battle of strength and dexterity, only one dominant comes out on top...

After months of relentless game night flirting, Aiden finally gets his shot with fellow dominant Cyana. Too bad it comes with a major catch. Submission has never been his style, but a bet is a bet and Aiden won't back down. As one night of total surrender changes everything he thought he knew, this big bad dom isn't prepared to deal with the consequences.

How long can Aiden avoid Cyana and the pleasure that only submission can give him? Since they're preparing to stand by their mutual friends for a double wedding in lifestyle-friendly-paradise, probably not very long.

#53 - Write a Letter to Myself

Crossed off the first item on my 101 Things in 1001 Days Challenge list!

The reason I even remembered this challenge was because of a note I wrote myself when I did the challenge ten years ago, which I opened a few months ago.

So I put writing a note to myself as #53 on the list this time because that was a really cool thing to do and opening it up and reading it made me really happy and kicked off me doing the challenge. I won't tell you what went into this year's letter (mostly because I don't want to be able to come back and look at it, I want to wait another 10 years and have completely forgotten the contents by the time I open it again) but if you want to see me reading the previous letter, here's the video I did when I opened it!

It's pretty amazing to see how much has changed in one decade =) Here's to the next!

The Domestic Discipline Quartet Has Had a Glow-Up!

I am SO excited - I gave the Bridal Discipline series a glow-up for last January and I just LOVED those covers so this year I decided to give the Domestic Discipline as similar treatment. As much as I did like the old covers, I am completely obsessed with the new ones. They're so modern-bodice ripper looking (which is pretty on point for WHAT they are too) and I cannot stop staring at them.

Huge thank you to Wicked Smart Designs for this gorgeous glow up!

Birching His Bride is FREE on all retailers!

Amazon     Apple    Google Play     Kobo    Nook    Everywhere Else

I'm sooooooooooo obsessed.

And even the boxset got a new treatment!

What's Coming in 2022?!

I am SO excited about 2022. I feel like there are so many cool things ahead this year.

First of all - I've got a tentative release schedule. Even though I say tentative, pre-orders are up for almost all of them!

February 10 - Dungeon Showdown - the final installment in the Dungeons & Doms trilogy. Aiden and Cyana have a little bet going... loser has to submit. Will one night of passion be enough to put this Dom and Domme on a new path to romance?

March 1 - A Mischievious Little Mardi Gras - my first and hopefully NOT last co-write with Stella Moore! We had SO much fun writing this one. It is part of the Rawhide Ranch series and so will be in Kindle Unlimited - she's picking back up with Hayleigh and Connor from Hayleigh's Little Halloween and Vicky and Saul from my Chef Daddy novella are coming to visit the ranch! These two head chefs are longtime friends, but Hayleigh and Vicky are meeting for the first time and they're going to find out they have quite a bit in common - especially when it comes to insecurities about their Daddies.

March 8 - The Duke's Pursuit - this is my second book with Cleis Press and I'm SO excited. My first was Marriage Training and I was thrilled when they wanted to pick up another standalone from me. This one was one I've been wanting to write for a while - there are so many romances where the Hero does the heroine dirty and then off he goes to have many sexual adventures with so many women while she remains chaste until he returns for their second chance. Well, this time, the heroine wants nothing to do with the H and so he has to stay chaste to prove he's serious about wanting that second chance, while she gets to enjoy all sorts of sexual adventures, since it's not like she wants love anyway. Can he show her that there's a difference between love and sex, and that he deserves a second chance?

April 21 - A Season for Smugglers - book three in the Deception & Discipline series! I am SO excited about this one. Lily is a perpetual blue stocking and she needs a man intelligent enough to keep up with her. Not only is Captain Nathan Jones her intellectual equal, but he's a very... inventive inventor with a particularly kinky bent. Circumstances force them into marriage and they're both determined to catch the traitor, but will they end up catching each other's hearts as well?

June 31 - Law & Disorder - aaaaaaaaaah I feel like I've waited so long for this book! When I was writing the Stronghold Doms series, I had so many requests for a book for Iris, but she wasn't ready yet. Now she is! And she was so much fun to write as a side character in Master Chef, I can't wait to watch her drive Master Law nuts in her own book!

July - SOOPER SEKRET SURPRISE RELEASE! ;)

September 20 - A Season for Spies - The final installment in Deception & Discipline! And this is a book I've had in my head for years. YEARS! I was never sure when I was going to be able to write it but finally I realized I could write the Deception & Discipline series and that the characters that had been bugging me for so long would be perfect for it. Evie and Anthony are like fire and fire and things are gonna get combustable!

October - Taking the Reins by Sinistre Ange - the long awaited fourth book in the Planets Apart series! Finally. I know. I suck. lol. But it's gonna happen this year!

November - Switch Play - Masters of Marquis Book 4.... I can't say too much without spoiling some things that are going to come out in Law & Disorder, but let's just say that this is going to involve another fan favorite from Stronghold, one of the newbie submissives who also showed up for the Dom class in Master Chef, and they've got an antagonistic history that goes back to high school.

And that's my year! Except wait, there's more! lol.

I've been struggling to get enough Sinistre Ange books out and part of that is lack of time... so this year I'm teaming my alter ego up with Vivian Murdoch, a fabulous dark romance author, and we're going to write some dark, smutty filth together. We're aiming to get two books out this year although we're not going to be doing preorders. We've already started working on the first one - it's about paying off a debt to a mob boss and it's haaaaaaaaaawt.

The other thing I'm doing also involves Sinstre Ange - last year I started releasing a serial called Dawn of the Alpha on Kindle Vella and Radish, but I know that those platforms aren't for everyone, so I've also set up a Patreon account for those who would prefer a different avenue to reading the serial!

Patreon is set up a lot like a blog. For $1 a month you'll get access to all the past chapters of Dawn of the Alpha as well as each new chapter on a weekly basis - it'll be sent out on Wednesdays, just like it is on Kindle Vella and Radish. You'll also get the chance to make comments on the posts, interact with me, and help me figure out what else I should offer my patrons =) If this sounds interesting to you, go ahead and CLICK HERE! It's super easy to sign up and it's also super easy to cancel.

Other things that are happening are that I'm getting my books translated. I'm also trying to get more of my books into audio. I'll have some blog posts coming up about those soon! It's going to be a busy year! Thanks for coming along with me on the ride =)

Looking Back at 2021

Wow. Talk about a crazy year.

2020 was rough in so many ways, not the least of which was that a lot of my writing mojo suffered. Releasing the first Masters of Marquis book got postponed. I didn't write in my historical world. Lee and I had to postpone writing the third Tsenturion Masters book.

Yet, somehow I got through it. And I think it's clear that this year I got some of my mojo back =P

Kicking off not just the new Masters of Marquis series, but the new historical series as well, Deception & Discipline - and adding in a whole new later-in-life romance series too! I loved writing the first two Dungeons & Doms books this year and I can't wait till #3 comes out in February! That will be the last of that series - but I'll talk more about that in my next post when we're looking ahead to 2022 =)

I still can't believe how many people read Bondage Buddies. It hit #58 in the ENTIRE KINDLE STORE in September. The ENTIRE STORE! The only other time I've had a book do something like that was being part of the Dirty Daddies Anthology - I've never had it happen for one of my solo books.

Speaking of the Dirty Daddies Anthology - it hit the USA Today Bestseller's list for the second year in a row! Which was particularly fun since I had not one, but two books in it - Double Daddies as Golden Angel and His Omega Babygirl as Sinistre Ange.

When Double Daddies releases on its own, I'm probably changing it back to the original title - Foosball Daddy LOL. Foosball Daddies? One or the other.

Anyway - for those who missed the previously released Super Daddies Anthology and the 2020 Dirty Daddies Anthology, I also released Little Villain and Chef Daddy on their own. I'm kinda sad because not too many people were interested in Little Villain, so I'm probably not going to be writing any more in that world, but Chef Daddy is another story - and Saul and Vicky WILL return in 2022 and I can't wait to tell you more about it in my next post!

I think one of my favorite parts of this year was getting to return to Stronghold with the two characters who started it all - Angel and Adam in Christmas at the Club. Writing that story was so cathartic. And getting to visit my favorites even more so. Writing the Masters of Marquis gives me a lot of the same feelings, but not *quite* the same. Writing in Stronghold always feels like coming home, but, of course, returning to Angel and Adam was even more personal. They might not be exactly me and hubby, but there's enough of us in them that she's one of the characters I relate to the most - and of course, therefore must burden with my own problems.

Anyway. Moving on.

A few people have asked - yes Alien Abduction is the last Tsenturion book... for now. Trying to coordinate our writing schedules when we both have such busy release schedules AND both have toddlers (and hubby and I are going to be starting the process to become foster parents in 2022), Lee and I wanted to give what we started some closure, while leaving open the possibility of returning to the world. (I also have to admit, I've been a little disappointed that no one yelled at me for what we did to one of the characters right before the end... it was one of the hardest scenes I've ever written and I fully expected to receive a lot of yelling LOL)

We would love to write more in it. It's just not possible right now.

Too many books and so little time!

So yeah. All in all, it's been a pretty great year.

Lee and I got to *finish* the project we started years ago, just for fun, which was so much more beloved than we ever expected, and we want to thank you all so much for sticking through the long waits for each book. If (when) we manage to get back to it, the waits in between won't be so crazy.

And I got to start THREE new projects that I've been wanting to do for a while.

Bondage Buddies kicked off the Masters of Marquis and let me have some fun with Mitch and Domi (fun fact: she was originally supposed to end up with Kincaid and he was supposed to end up with  Morgan, but by the end of the Stronghold Doms series, I knew that none of that was going to happen... darn characters having their own opinions and whatnot), and then I also got to FINALLY write the 'newbie dom / experienced sub' book that I've been wanting to write for so long!

Also, I totally knew that Avery and Nick were going to need their own book way back when I introduced them in Tempting the Domme. And that Nick was going to need to learn some lessons about kink along the way.

I think one of the most fun things about writing these two books was introducing the upcoming characters - or re-introducing in many cases. It has given me so much glee to watch the reactions to old favorites appearing - from the "oh no!" of Marissa's reapparance to the cheering when Q (from The Sassy Submissive) and Iris (from Bound to the Past) showed up at Marquis. And, of course, making sure that no one has forgotten about the other baby Doms and newbie subs - Kincaid, Zach, Brian, Rae, Morgan, and Samantha - and Freddy ;) So there's some hints for the future.

Somewhat connected, of course, are the Dungeons & Doms (since Gavin and Leah are Mitch's parents, as we found out in Bondage Buddies, and Esther and Jax actually visit Marquis in Dungeon Daddy!), my first ever later-in-life romance series. I've had readers asking me for later-in-life characters for years and it felt really good to finally be able to fulfill those requests. And I loved writing their stories. I definitely plan to do more later-in-life in the future.

And totally unconnected but taking a trip to the past and my historical world - the kick off of the Deception & Discipline series! This one is only going to be four books, but I am having SO much damn fun with it. Adding a bit of 'whodunit' to everything has been a blast and a challenge, and it's all leading up to a book I've been wanting to write for years, but which didn't fit in anywhere. Literally, A Season for Spies and Evie in particular, has been hanging out in my head for close to a decade.

But I had so much fun starting with Mary and Rex - because I knew when I was writing the Bridal Discipline books that she wasn't exactly what she seemed. And Rex needed a HEA, poor guy, after what I did to him in Arabella's Taming. Fun fact - he was not originally part of that plotline. I had to re-write the entire outline to the book after he appeared. Getting to watching him fall head over heels for my sassy wallflower was such a fun treat. And then, of course, Josie reminded me so much of Cynthia (who is probably my all-time favorite character - Punishing His Ward) that writing A Season for Scandal was pure joy.

It's been a good year for the creative side of my brain. I hope you all enjoyed it as well. Stay tuned for next Friday's post which will be everything we have to look forward to in 2022!!!!!

#TBT - Bound to the Past

Remember that time I put Vivian Murdoch's hubby's ass on one of my covers? 🤣

Yup, that's her hubby and she took the picture because in addition to being an awesome author, she's also a talented photographer.

Fun story, before I get to talking about Andrew & Kate, a while back, Viv posted a bunch of photos and was like "These were just for fun but I'd like to eventually take photos that people would put on their covers"

And I commented "Yes, I'd like that one please." 🤣

And then I put that ass on a cover lol.
So. Andrew and Kate.
I knew what their story was going to be so SO long before I wrote it. I knew when I first introduced him in the Venus Rising series that he was going to eventually be getting back together with his ex. There were VERY SPECIFIC things I wanted to do (really, NOT do) with their second chance romance.
I did NOT want Kate to have been pining away for him for the past seven years. Or him for her. Sure, he had all sorts of issues that stemmed back from what went down with her, BUT he wasn't like "oh, the one that got away." (even though that was what all his friends assumed).
I did NOT want them to be like "oh, my ex from forever ago was the best sex I ever had and no one since has lived up to them."
I did NOT want Kate to have never had a serious relationship in between hers ending with Andrew and then meeting him again (which is why she'd had a serious boyfriend and Dom during that time).I did NOT want them to just hop back into bed together and she's totally fine with all his playboy ways and accepted the explanation of "oh, well, i told the subs how it was." Nope, she was gonna call him on that shit.
And that's why it took so long for them to get together, even after she was introduced to the series in Pieces of Stronghold, because not all of that was going to fit in one book.
I had SO much fun with these two, taking them down a second chance romance path that I haven't seen done often, if ever. I loved getting to see Andrew acknowledge and mend his playboy ways. I loved seeing them work their way back to each other, rather than falling neatly into place just because they're back in each other's proximity.
And most of all, I really loved getting to explore what can happen when kink goes wrong due to inexperience, how that can affect the people involved, and how differently three different people can view the same event.

What did you think about Bound to the Past? Were there any surprises for you? Did you think it was a pretty typical second chance romance? And had you read the previous books and had any thoughts about what you thought would go down when Andrew and Kate finally got together?
