THE NEXT BIG THING BLOG HOP WEEK 17
From Twilight to 50 Shades of Grey, the past few years have been full of high profile reads. Love um or hate um, you have to admit you have at least heard of them.
As Independent Authors we all dare to dream we will be next, and well let’s face it you never know ... right?
With that thought I jumped on this Hop, what is a blog hop? Well I didn't know until I asked.
Basically, it’s an Independent Authors game of tag.
One Author posts, and then tags five other Authors, who each link back to them. Exponentially it is a marketing gold mine, and you my fair reader have hopefully just increased your to read list. Finding New and Exciting Authors you may never have found otherwise. Some of us are still writing, others are just being released. Either way, for you Fiction Lovers, a treasure trove awaits and I’d like to thank fellow Author Eri Nelson for tagging me to participate.

Click the links to find out about Eri's Primal Paranormal books.
Blog: http://www.dearharts.com/
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Author...
In this particular hop I and my fellow Authors each in their perspective Blogs have answered 10 questions where you get to learn about our current WIP (Works in Progress) as well as some goodies as to our process, from characters and inspirations to photographic/ Cinematic eye candy! I hope you enjoy it!!
If this or any other items pique your interest, please feel free to comment and share your thoughts and questions.
THE NEXT BIG THING QUESTIONNAIRE
Q: What is the working title of your book?
Centuries of Blood
Q: Where did the idea come from for the book?
I find inspirations in many things, and enjoy periodical pieces, as well as the paranormal, I wanted to write a life of a vampire enriched by time instead of ravaged, as so many other tales seem to depict.
Q: What genre does your book fall under?
Paranormal Romance/historical erotica is/are the most dominate traits of this series.
Q: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Up and comer Alexandra Daddario would be perfect for Catherine Morrigain Von Cecile my heroine, height, body type, she is the epitome of how I see her. For Alexandros, Michael Fassbender shows ability and range, there is unarguable sex appeal in his mature features and stunning eyes.
Q: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Catherine Morrigain Von Cecil, is a 16th century girl, who has discovered that the next town over is a haven for vampires, fascination, and freedom call, but will this new life be all that she craves, or will it too take her to a place she doesn't wan tot go?
Q: Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
As with my other works, Centuries of Blood, will be independently published through smashwords.com, amazon.com and be available in paperback through Amazon and Createspace.
Q: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I am actually still doing so, although I do hope to have it fully polished and available in time for Christmas 2012.
Q: What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I can not think of any other titles to compare it with, I hope that it proves to be a new installment for the genres.
Q: Who or What inspired you to write this book?
I grew up loving films like Valmont, Age of Innocence, and Pride and Prejudice, from here the historical and periodical thoughts stemmed. My love of all things vampire started with Bram Stoker and Anne Rice. While as a youngster I read some harlequin novels and parts of Lucky from Danielle Steel, these writings have helped to spur me into the romance genre.
Q: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
Well I’m a research nut, and it often shows in my work, I like to be as historically accurate when it comes to places and periods as I can be, painting worlds hopefully in new lights. Centuries of Blood, is no exception. In the first volume, you will glimpse the muddy streets of Old Glastonbury, England and the Tor, as well as the Citadel of Corfu Greece and the Americas at their humble beginning. I hope that readers will fall as in love with these places as Morrigain and I have.
List of my tagged blog hop buds for next week. Check out their blogs next Wednesday to read about their WIPs and New Releases:

Interview with Author Eri Nelson By S.I. Hayes
Eri, thanks for taking the time to banter with the readers and me. I really enjoyed “The Call From Within.”

I am so flattered that you like the book. (Jumping up and down with glee!!)
I love your enthusiasm, What was your inspiration for writing The Call From Within?
To be honest the start of the whole idea came from a call out for a short paranormal read from various authors to appear under one cover. With that in mind, I wanted to create something that had not been done before. From there it was just pen to paper so to speak. However, "The Call From Within" was rejected due to the fact that mine was not of the original story lines they were looking for.
Too bad for them, they surely missed out. What was your favorite scene to write, why?
By far the action scenes.... The fast pace dancing around in my head gets the blood pumping and gives me the drive to write more.
Those of us who write can certainly connect with that, and your scenes have quite the rhythm. What do you think makes a good story?
Well speaking from my stance on writing, it would be the dark primal paranormal action that is laced with enticing sex scenes. (teasing grin)
Your work is definitely geared toward the mature audiences in that enticing, tension building sort of way. What books if any have most influenced your own writing?
Wow, that would be a very long list. I am often inspired by the drive of many authors. Even now as I read

Thank you so much for the complement! I am honored to be in your list of authors! I do aim to inspire! What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?
I am not sure some would call it a quirk (lol). However, I love to make words roll off your tongue by using the not so usual turn of phrases.
The unusual turns are what make it all worth writing and reading and you do it well. Where do you draw the most inspiration for your work?
I might jot things down here and there but for me it is the blank page that inspires me. There are infinite possibilities awaiting your fingertips when you are before a blank page.
That’s a very brave and interesting take on things. I’m more of a planner myself. Blank pages scare me. So what’s next for you as a writer?
I am continuing to write and hopefully create a new venue for myself on my site www.dearharts.com. As most writers face discouragement, I am no different. Although I wanted to stare it down, and use it. Therefore the new role to my site. It is among dearharts.com that hopefully readers will be able to get the real sense of who I am as a writer.
I hope they can get a feel for you here as well! I know I can’t wait to see what happens next. You’ve written a second in the Dearhart series, which builds on the first in fun-filled if not darker ways, so what’s next for the clan? (Caution, spoiler alert!)
Currently I am working on the last two chapters of "Heated Calls From Change.” This third book is far darker than its predecessors, venturing down a path that will ultimately have readers at the door to another series, INK.
Owen and Kristen wage the war of captivities' control and fight all obstacles to find their ways back to each other. However, neither will ever be the same and brink on the lines of death to see each other once again.
Julia caught in loss will form a bond with an unexpected new life now swaddled around her. While Thomas resolves his needs and wants, to having it all with his mate.
From Forest's winter attire, comes a new face that hides well and kills even better. But she will not hide as her destiny arrives on the back of a wolf named Bry. For she and he were destined to carry the upcoming change of the werewolves world.
As revenge smolders still in the mind of Wash, he will be faced with the battle of his life and more importantly the man who will soon control all the werewolves fates.
Oh wow, can’t wait to sink my teeth into the next installment! I’m sure I’m not the only one!
Eri thanks so much for sharing your world with us.

Review of Author Eri Nelson’s The Call From Within: Dearhart Clan Series
The Call From Within

At first glance, I readied myself for what I thought was going to be yet another venture into Twilight-like romance gag-fiction. I had resolved myself to reading it, and being honest and polite, having taken a strong stance against the sparkly vampires and their pseudo sexual furry werewolves.
After the first chapter, I found myself pleasantly surprised that my first impression was in fact very wrong.
The tale may be short toping off at a mere sixty-eight pages, but what it lacks in length is made up with (pardon the well intended pun), heart. We meet Owen Dearhart, the Alpha male and only hope for a Wyoming pack of Werewolves who are on the brink of extinction. Females are scarce, and can not simply be made; they must be born, and claimed, the problem...Most females did not survive the trauma of the Moons Call.
Enter a tight bodied waitress named Kristen and the fur begins to fly, literally. The imprint has been made and now a race has begun, Owen must bed the fiery haired maiden, and awaken the Werewolf within her, before she turns 24. With only days left they must escape Brinston, a Shapeshifter who has staked his claim for Kristen as in the shadows beyond the chaos, a traitor stalks, his werewolf jaws salivating for revenge against his maker.
I know how it ends, if you want to, go get yourself a copy, and while you’re at it, grab the second in the Dearhart Series.
Double Call From Desire:

Keep your eyes open for the next installment due out this year. I know I can’t wait to see how it all pans out.

Doc Chaos: The Chernobyl Effect & The Last Laugh A Review and Interview with Novelist and Comic Writer David Thorpe
In the tradition of David Copperfield, comes the story of Doc Chaos. He is as he boasts ‘Pure Science made flesh’; often falling into narcissistic over reaching rants, but without them, this character would not stand up to his own claims. The fact that a medical dictionary would be a useful companion makes me feel as if the Doc has in fact, earned his degree. He is morally corrupt, sadistic and a wee bit twisted, and yet, there is a truthfulness you have to respect. If only all were so forthcoming in their thoughts!
Doc Chao's ramblings of madness while comical also make you remember what failure can bring out of us, how despairingly desperate we can become when we are starved for what we all need. The shaking, tumultuous, and overpowering feeling that can only be found when flesh meets flesh, at the heart of the tale is a love story, told by the only one the Doc has ever truly loved. Himself.
What are the lengths in which he goes to fulfill this love? You’ll have to read to find out.
With Doc Chaos, David Thorpe shows a grasp of the greedy corporations of the world, in a way that could make one realize just how corruption can and will lead to our own definitive end. It is interesting to see the inner workings of his mind as he sets the world up for one of the most horrendous disasters of the 20th century, the Chernobyl melt down, all in the pursuit of the ultimate ejaculation of the spirit, and no one can stop him from attaining it.
Then we find him decades later, in “The Last Laugh.” Still believing he has done the world a service that his creation of chaos was to prepare man for the results of their avarice. He alone has lasted, has thrived, to make available to the world the means to let its self burn. He looks out over the barren lands, awaiting the opportunity to rise again, to become glorified once more, in his sadistic fashion he feeds off those still with him unaware of his twisted needs.
In general, I recommend this tale, having been unfamiliar with the character before now, although I am well aware there are more twisted tales, which I will now have to seek out. It is not often that a story lets you delve so deeply into a mind, as this one does. I look forward to seeing more from David, and Doc Chaos.
Not to be ignored is the artistry of Bryan Talbot, Simon Bisley, and Brian Bolland just to name a few, the work has an eerie surrealism, lost on some, but caustically clear as the images in the Doc's head. It truly is astounding, as is the way David Thorpe works “The Brilliance of the Thesaurus.” I am an avid fan, and I applaud its use when it does not come across as obvious, and even more so when it is. It shows that a writer does their homework and is trying not to bore me. When it comes to a turn of phrase, in this book, I have not been bored.
After the read, David was kind enough to answer some questions.
Q: What was your inspiration for Doc Chaos? Is he representative of a specific theme or does he have roots in people you have experienced in your life?
A: Some of the biographical history of the bad Dr. comes from my own upbringing, such as the visits to the clinic, and the fact that we both suffer from cerebral palsy. Of course, he is a satirical creation, and as such derived partly from my own reading of Mary Shelley's apocryphal Dr. Frankenstein, Alfred Jarry's Dr Faustroll, and, of course, William S Burroughs' Dr Benway. That is his literary ‘family tree’.
Q: That’s quite the ‘family’. Doc Chaos' mind is filled with formula, what if any research did you do to make him come across with such genius/madness?
A: When I wrote it, along with the TV series and comics scripts from which it is derived, chaos maths and chaos theory were extremely popular. Posters and postcards of fractals and the Mandelbrot Set were widely available and used on posters for clubs, raves, etc. Alongside this was the fringe craze for chaos magic, which is a kind of punk, post-modern form of magic heavily influenced by Chaos theory, and I was the 1st comics writer to get involved with a group, that met in Greenwich above a cafe called Bullfrogs. Later, Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, and others were to get involved. The idea of using formulae was to satirize the lust for order using mock mathematics.
Q: Well it certainly ‘sold’ the tale for me. What was your favorite scene to write, why?
A: What was a favorite scene? I guess the sex scenes! Particularly the cut-up one. It was really interesting writing that because I was writing it on an Amstrad personal computer, you know the ones with the green screens, that used a now lost word processing program called Locoscript. A major advantage of this was that, unlike every other word processing program that I'm aware of which only allow you to copy and hold in the memory one phrase at a time to paste somewhere else, with this you could assign to each letter and number on the keyboard a separate phrase or sentence. I did this and then randomly hit the keyboard to let the computer generate the text. By swapping and changing the phrases that were held in the memory over the course of generating the chapter, the text progressed. I then edited the result.
Q: I have never had the pleasure of using an Amstrad; they were gone before my time. But what I wouldn’t give for that program.
In the Afterword, you state that you may do the work to fill in the gaps between The Chernobyl Effect and The Last Laugh, but do you have any plans for us to see the Doc after the scenes in the Last Laugh?
A: I have no plans at the moment for writing a Doc Chaos story that takes place after the Last Laugh, but you never know. Perhaps he will have his brain transplanted into the body of a wolf!
‘A wolf eh? I’d love an advanced copy if it ever happens! Thank you so much for all your time.’

Bi-Polar Writer
I'm not a person who minces words, it's not my particular style. I have an innate need to correct people when they misuse words, or pronounce them wrong. Always have, probably always will. It's a facet of my personality, like never sleeping at night, but being able to crash so long as the sun is up. Or going on day long top to bottom cleaning sprees. Before psychiatrists and other health professionals got involved this was my normal.
During these sleepless times I would write, and write. It gave me something to do. It allowed me to get down everything that swirled around in my head, after doing that I could usually crash, at least for a while. Then it happened, all of a sudden, about four years ago...I couldn't write. I would sit down and stare at the paper, and... nothing. What do you do when the one real outlet you have ever wanted is suddenly unreachable? For me I just got angry. Anger is something I am familiar with, it's a warm blanket that I easily snuggle down into.
But some thing was wrong, it wasn't helping, and for two years I didn't write a single turn of phrase that was my own. My Co-AuthorWill Van Stone Jr. tried to get me to work, and occasionally my editing prowess emerged and we did a little here, a little there, but all in all, I was drowning.
So I followed the advice of my mother, not something I have been known to do, but when all else fails...I took myself to a Mental health facility. After awhile they diagnosed me as Bi-Polar with an NOS personality disorder. For those not up to the lingo, basically as I understand it, it means that I am Manic Depressive<- Bi-Polar, and NOS stands for Not Otherwise Specified, which means that my described symptoms fit several different personality disorders, with no one being dominate.
Yeah, so now I'm thinking I'm more F*ck*d up than I thought, I was told in my younger years that it was probably ADHD, that was the cause of my disciplinary issues. Apparently not. Through therapy and experimentation with different psych-drugs it seemed I was well on my way. I published my first novel in January of this year, and my second in May. I was soaring high, feeling pretty good, the drug interactions aside. I was finally feeling like I was getting better.
So what do you think I did? Any guesses? If you said kept doing what I was, you'd be wrong. I did what any person feeling good would do. I forgot about the drugs. Stopped taking them, because while I was writing, I wasn't doing much of anything else. The Lithium caused me to have depressive episodes, something I had never actually had. I couldn't function on any social levels. So while somethings were better, the things I, and others wanted me to do were not getting done.
I changed shrinks, because mine moved on to a better opportunity, good on her, but where did that leave me? Starting over with someone new. I don't like that. It annoys me, like standing in line with idiots in front of me, or being made to wait 45 mins past the time of an appointment annoys me. During this time of transition, they changed my meds, a few times, and while I was between meds, I was writing like a fiend. I was happy, I was MANIC, nobody seemed to notice. I noticed, but didn't much care as I was being productive. Of course eventually I got on my meds, and since it has been a daily struggle, my work, my writing has been slowly halted. Sure I can rattle off all of this, because it doesn't require any imagination. Facts are facts. I want to write fiction! I'm not trying to delve into the dark depths of the human condition. I'm not Hemingway, or Poe, or Fitzgerald. I don't claim to have some deeper insight into why we deny our baser instincts.
I just want to get to a level where I can say, I am doing what I want, and am healthy. It seems that I am probably in a Dysphoic Manic Phase, and am making little to no sense, but I do have a point. I'm sure I have one, it's just under a lot of back and forward story.I think that my point is this, Mental Health is an abstract. What is normal to one is not so to another, and I think that the struggle for those afflicted is hard for everyone, but most so for the creative.
Some of the most renown artists and writers were afflicted by one issue or another. Some were drunks, drug addicts, and even complete psychos, as far as the psychiatric communities are concerned. They were their most creative and useful when indulging in the behavior that eventually lead to their demise. So many great writers were taken before they reached the "golden years", most by their own hands. It's been called tragic, because they had so much more to give, but I wonder, perhaps the reason they left, was because they had nothing left. Perhaps the creative juices turned to dust, and without them they could not stand to stay in a world that called for MORE. I'm not saying that I'm on that road, a part of my illness is that I abhor the idea of doing anything to myself, other people, well that's subjective. But I think that I am beginning to understand why other writers self medicated, drowning the craziness so they could work. I just can't seem to settle on a poison.
Right now I am again blocked, I have work to do, I had set a deadline for myself, but that has come and gone, and I am again facing adjusting to a new drug, and a new person of use. I hope that these new things are going to be of a benefit, but I don't know, only time will tell. I will keep trying to write, even if it is only this dribble before you. At least it is something...

It's Been a long Journey....But Here I am.
All created by me, for all of you! Hours of blood, sweat and tears went into all that is my work. And just when I thought I was done, Woosh! It had to be redone. Oh Holy Hell.
Format this way for smashwords, that way for Kindle, and another way all together for Createspace. I think my head is gonna explode. Add to that the fact that my computer hates me the last few days. It likes to freeze up at the most inopertune of times, leaving me hanging like a slip on the clothesline just as the rain starts, while your at work! All this insert break here and update TOC there, for a minute I was wondering if it was worth all the trouble.
But then I saw it, MY Book. Front, spine, back cover....
Hell I was almost in tears. I know... I know... but what do you want from me? It has taken a long time to get this far. I spent the better part of two years with writer's block. Between health issues in the family and of my own and coming to terms with the fact that I am Bi-Polar, I almost gave up all together.
Medications did nothing, I had to have surgery and fight to get and keep my crappy insurance. With all the fuss going on, no wonder I couldn't write! I watched as my AWAKENINGS Co-Author published his first title. The Three: A Death Dealer NovelThe Three: A Death Dealer Noveland had to feign happiness for him. Truth was I really didn't care. Such was the state of my illness. Here was my best friend of *Cough* years so excited over such a great accomplishment and I WAS FAKING IT! Fortunately for me, he knows now just how very proud of him I really am.
I've sat through Anger Management, Stress Management, Cognitive therapy, and Bi-Polar Groups. But in the end, so far, it hasn't done much more than annoy the crap out of me. No, that's not true, not entirely, it's gotten me out of my cooped up little dungeon. Made me remember that there was a time when nothing and no one could stop me. I'm NOT the person people used to know. But That is a GOOD THING! I really am better than I've been in a long time. and it really is because of the writing.
I took a moment in my life and said to hell with the bullspit. I sat down and wrote...And wrote.... Deleted....And started over. But Finally in January, just literally 12 hours before I turned 30, In Dreams: The Road Unavoidablewent live at Smashwords.com. I was elated. To further add to that elation I was offered a deal with a real live pub. co. But creative differences caused us to part ways. The were Christians, and I am not. But I wasn't upset. It was my choice to disclose my heathen ways. For which I am not ashamed. PAGAN AND PROUD! BABY!
There will be others in the traditional Pub world. But until then Epub and createspace are my tools. Bringing My World,My Way, Uncensored,, to those brave enough to hit that purchase button.
It has been a long road, but in the end, if I had not traveled it, I wouldn't be here. Now...Right where I want to be.
HAPPY WRITING!!
