Get the Trilogy on Kickstarter

Writing buddy Michael Lasco has completed the final book of his Sandbox space opera trilogy. The book will be released across most online ebook stores toward the end of the year. But to fund its completion, I’ve been hosting a Kickstarter campaign for him.

It’s here. And by supporting it, you’re among the first in the world to own and read the entire saga.

The Sandbox books are character-centric, with twisty-turny plots that are still easy to follow, and they’re peppered wit...

ICONIC – a tale of persistence

June 21st marks the fulfilment of a dream for me. A dream I’ve had since adolescence: to see an original book of mine launched by a major publisher (and with magnificent cover art).

When I first dreamed this (as a young bloke in the early 80s) there was very little way for me to access it. Australia for the next 15 years or so would be a publishing black hole, something it was difficult to climb out of. Some extraordinary writers made it. I needed writing coaching, critique groups, the chance...

New Releases (in an all new universe!)

Co-author Andre Jones (City of Bridges) and I are proud to announce an all new, epic far future scifi series coming June 21 from Theogony Books and Chris Kennedy Publishing.

BOOK 1 in The Outer Reaches Book 2 in The Outer Reaches

My contribution to the stories in this shared universe are a team of ancient soldiers, who were once on the losing side of a civil war. Called ‘Proselyti‘ (converts), they have chosen to serve their imperial victors to repair the damage caused to civilization acr...

Upcoming Epic Fantasy Kickstarter Delayed

Ugh. The five words in this post title were very hard to write.

I was so looking forward to (finally) releasing my one and only epic fantasy novel middle of this year. For reasons (which I’ll summarize below), I’m shifting the Kickstarter campaign to Feb 2025.

This project (mysteriously referred to as LAE until I’m ready to release the title) has been kicking around since 2011 (maybe earlier). It nearly found a home with THREE publishers over the past decade, but ‘issues arose’–if you wan...

On Conglish, Espancon & Condarin (ENVOYS UNIVERSE language revitalization)

NOTE: This is not an article about politics or about tensions in the Middle East. This is an article about practical linguistics and their (minor) use in my science fiction works.

Recently I had an extremely pleasant conversation with a reader via email. The reader was warm and complimentary about the 3 DCHC books they’d read so far in my scifi universe: Exclusion Zone, Third Contact and Assured.

But they had a question about my use of language in the books…

[In Exclusion Zone (set in ...

The 2024 Production Pipeline

One year closes and I take a breath before considering the next. So many plans, ideas, projects…so little time.

To stay focused, these are the two priorities for 2024:

Completing a new space opera trilogy (in a new universe) with fellow author Andre Jones. We’ve a decent chance at publication with a publisher we’ve pitched it to. Fingers crossed…but plenty of work to do.At some point a Kickstarter for the production of an epic fantasy novel. This novel almost had a home with Angry...

Updates on the lack of updates

Hey hey.
It looks like I’ve been quiet for some time and after some personal crappola mid year, I’m back hard at work.

A buddy and I have a good shot at a three book contract with a US publisher I respect highly. These things take time. We have one book written and now we’re both plugging away at a second and third. (The publisher wants to see a full series of three before moving forward).

Also considering a Kickstarter early in 2024 for an epic fantasy standalone I’ve had sitting around for almost a decade. Watch this space.

Thanks for continuing to support my work and the work of so many great authors out there. Wth the looming insanity of AI-generated ‘books’ and the rising costs of living, we need you more than ever. XXOO

New Books, Low Prices

Hey hey, there’s a big sale a-comin’. This one’s a beauty. 8 books for 0.99 each. But it’s only for 48 hours, June 3 to 4.

(Pssstt: some books are already reduced!)

While I’ve just started reading a couple of these, I have read the following books cover-to- cover. And I highly recommend the quality of the writing in them…

Dawn StarBlueshift

These two gentlemen craft interesting universes and plots, AND they know how to use the English language well. Some review screensho...
