In pursuit of happiness

Years and years ago the term pursuit of happiness had a whole different meaning than today, for example, when the first settlers came over to what is now known as America they wanted freedom that's where they found happiness, mostly freedom to be able to worship or live in the manner they saw fit, not the way other would tell them to live. They wanted to be with their families and friends and have grounds that they could grow their crops on and raise healthy ;livestock with a peace of mind that no one could just come and take it from them, however they were met with resistance and we all know how that turned out.
Today it is a different world, at one time Politian's were a part of the people and now their pampered lives prevent them from seeing common folks like you and me as they are, they now only see the "commoners;" as their "advisors tell them they are," , they live in grand houses that we pay for, and they are paid to make our decisions for us and we have come to accept that fact as our way of life.
In today's world we have movie stars that can get a way murder when at one time in a different America those type of scandals would not be excepted and any type of scandal would ruin an actors career, the values of our time has diminished as much as the meaning of happiness has, today if a person happens to have a tv show or a movie career then they are worshipped by people all over the world only making those people much richer while we get poorer trying to pay for a single concert or movie ticket.
The Pursuit of happiness, what is it really? is it about money? or is it about how society sees you? In reality it is about the real things in life, money is not real if you don't believe me set fire to a dollar and watch it disappear in ash, houses are not real they can be pulled away by some rich bank, so what is real today and what is real happiness.
One time Happiness was spending the day with your family at a lake and eating fried chicken together watching the kids splash around in the water, but today we have to spend an obscene amount of money to take our family to a theme park were we come out even more tired and broke than when we go in and we call that a vacation, it's time we as a society got our perspectives back and enjoyed the real things in life like spending time with mom and dad before they are gone, or spending time with are kids before they are grown, this is what's real in life, the movie star or singer that you idolize will grow old and die but things like family and friends will live on forever even after your gone your children will have these same values to pass along to their children, in which case you and I will live on forever just something to ponder.

 Ponderings to Ponder

“Adversity introduces a man to himself.” ― Albert Einstein

This is one of my favorite quotes, because it matches my life so well. Like most people I have had financial struggles, automobile problems, problems paying rent and so on.  I have been to the top of the mountain where prosperity was plentiful,  and I have been in the lowest valleys where I was wondering how i would keep my electricity on, so this quote reminds me that no matter what this life may bring it will always get better if we keep positive and keep moving forward always remember if you are going through hard times at least you are going through them and anytime you are moving forward you will come out of it.

So often we find ourselves in situations that we feel we cannot get out of or over come,  well I am living proof that there is a way out of every bad situation and no one is too far gone, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.  I do not give to you as the world gives. John 14:27 says  "Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Whenever I have found myself in situations like the ones I have described above I always turn to the only one who has been there when no one else was, friends, family, and loved ones are good to have around but they have lives to live to, they have separate lives so we cannot always count on them but God is always there he has always pulled me out of bad situations, at one point in my life I contemplated taking my own life because the stress of just the everyday existence was too much to bear, such as a bad divorce, alcohol or just debt can drive a person to think and do things we would not ordinarily think or do.

"Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”   Isaiah 40: 30,31 remember you are not alone there are others that have been through the same things as you so listen and learn and have dreams and hopes, look to the future instead of the past and someday you will be telling these things to others and in some way you will be helping those that are where you might be right now.

Editiors

by nature I am a trusting person I believe everyone are as good as their word well recently I found out otherwise I hire and editor and I thought she was a good one to work on my book of M series well stupid me paid her before the job was done and now I have not heard from her I hate the thoughts of not trusting people but it seems to be getting to the point to where we have to question any promises people make in todays society and it is a very sad thing when I bought my first vehicle simply on a handshake.

a good story

Several months ago a man came into the store where I work and he was telling me his wife was not expected to live much longer. I really wanted to do something for the guy so I just gave him one of my books a life worth living for her to read. Well she passed away a couple of days ago and he came into the store today and thanked me for the book and said he was reading it to her just before she passed away. That story touched me that my book could be used in such away.

So now matter what the critic says it is things like this that make what I write worth while.

The Book of M

The book of M has been a dream of mine to write. I grew up reading Sherlock Holmes, The Phantom of the Opera, Frankenstein, Dracula, and sleepy Hollow. As I got older I discovered Allan Quatermain, and the story Of Elizabeth Bathory. I never read Zorro but I always loved the old movies and TV shows and was so excited when I found out he was in the public domain.

What I decided to do was try and keep the original stories intact and make them about what happened after the fact. This series of books starts with one woman, Elizabeth Bathory, I know a lot of the time periods are off, however this is after all fiction and I wanted a plausible story to be able to put these characters together.
Elizabeth Bathory has been in exile still fighting to maintain her youth and desperately trying to defy death itself. So she is forced to hide and travel searching for the secrets of the ages and in her travels she finds a lowly Phantom wondering the streets of Paris and recruits him in returned for security and aid. She also finds a broken man by the name of Professor Moriarty (who had fallen from a large waterfall) he found his way to her door step one night as she is staying over in a small village still on the run from the authorities.
Now with the brave Phantom and the Mind of professor Moriarty she is able to recruit another lowly poor soul who had turned himself invisible and living in secrete so the world will think he remains dead, he simply goes by the name griffin.
Also The Countess Bathory knows of a thief who is world renowned and yet has never been caught his name Arsene Lupin. The countess sends Lupin to the Americas to locate the head of an invincible Hessian warrior. The warrior is the only one who can get through the snares inside Dracula's final resting place, Bathory feels if she has Dracula she will become invincible and live forever as undead, However should the supernatural not be enough, she turns to science. The Countess sends Griffin and Moriarty to the frozen arctic to locate a man created from science by a brilliant Scientist named Frankenstein. With her plan complete what could possible stand in the countesses way of revenge upon the entire world.
Traveling alone a doctor of other sorts has faked his own death so that he might be able to find a cure for his own creation. Dr. Henry Jekyll was searching for a way that he could live out his fantasies without fear of remorse, however what he created he named Hyde. As the years have gone by Hyde has become more powerful and in fact Jekyll does not need the potion to turn him anymore, sometimes all it takes is a strong emotion. Along his Journey he meets a man with a similar problem who he calls Larry. Larry was bitten by a large wolf one night and now he is cursed whenever the moon is full he becomes that which bit him.
On a chance meeting of the wolf and Hyde, a fight ensues and in the end Larry and Jekyll become friends and travel together trying to keeps each ones alter ego in check., that is until an encounter with an evil count and his vampire army disrupts the two men.
He has been on the run for years trying to track down the rest of Dracula's army however the remaining Vampires have been hunting him as well. The Vampire Hunter's name is Abraham Van Helsing and he has been slaying vampires ever since he destroyed the dark Count Dracula. One night on such a hunt he ends up on the doorstep of history's greatest detective Sherlock Holmes. Holmes 'after witnessing' the Vampires for himself insist on helping Van Helsing in his crusade of ridding the world of such beast. Along the way they are aided in a vampire battle by a Spanish swordsman who has been traveling the world in his retirement years. Diego de la Vega insists on helping the two men on their journey.
Along the way the three men are assisted by the likes of Captain Ahab, Allan Quatermain, and even Captain Nemo.
In this volume you will see a betrayal by Dracula, a change of heart by Professor Moriarty, and meet a pack of friendly peace loving werewolves.
So where will it all end? well you will have to read it to find out.

a new work

My name is Tim Simpson and for as far back as I can remember I have wanted to publish a book. I can remember my father finding me an old electric typewriter in the garbage and he brought it home and I would punch away at the keys for hours. I have always had a wild imagination however my first book turned out to be a non fiction book about my life, which seems more like fiction than nonfiction.

I will never be the best writer ever or the most popular, I am human but I just love writing I am finishing up my first novel to be published following a life worth living.

my book has only been out for less than a month so I am in the middle of promoting it I am truly grateful for sites like this one to be able to use in that area. way back when I had my little typewriter the internet did not exist if it had I would have probably 25 books published by now.
