Super Sunday: making tsaitia

Those on FB would have already seen the pictures.

Today I'm going to show you what I've been doing today with my family - making tsaitia (tsa-it-ya).  I was booked a little while back to do this and nearly forgot if it wasn't for me asking 'what was it on Sunday that we were going to do again?'

Groan.

Don't get me wrong, I love eating them, but with a sore back this week, I really didn't feel like it as we make a whole huge batch to put in the freezer. And so it's  hours later we emerge.

This following what it looks like in the prep stages. The pastry (rolled out by the little press) and cut into squares, and the filling (feta cheese, different types of spinach/greens, spring onion, pepper):

Then it's folded over to make a 'square' shape. Yep you can tell, I did this one.

And then after it's grilled on a hotplate and placed on the cooling rack.
Ready to eat! Well after it's cooled down because you don't want to burn your tongue.

They are really yummy - think of spanokopita. But for me it's nicer because the filling to pastry ratio is much better, and the pastry is crispier.

They are great for when you want a quick snack. We take them out of the freezer and heat them up as we need them.
So it's a super food for Super Sunday. Have a great week.

Stunning Saturday: Calendar

Still finding it hard to get into the swing of things. This week my back gave way and so I haven't sat for too long at the computer. I realised I hadn't put up the August nor September pictures from the Calendar of A Song of Ice and Fire.

The artist is John Picacio.

The next two pictures on the calendar is....

Jamie Lannister
The Mountain vs The Red Viper

Disclaimer: No claim is made on copyright for any artworks in the Stunning Saturday posts. I stumble across art works and save them for inspiration but can not always find the artist's name.

A Warder Tale 1: Gateway to Hell ~ NOW available

I'm doing a little Snoopy dance as Gateway to Hell is now available from Musa Publishing.

Source

I'm very excited as this is the very first novella I have ever written and it's the first one to be released. I wrote it at a time when I needed a break from The Novel That Would Not End (aka the quest fantasy) and it was such as joy to work on. I also used things I had learned and brushed up on with Angela James' Before You Hit Send editing course, and it just felt right.

I had my official launch party last night on Facebook. I thought I'd give it a try, and we had fun with cyber drinks, food, and waiters. Being an ebook, the immediacy of FB seemed more appropriate for an e-launch, but I still want to celebrate in my old faithful blog.

So, I'm giving a copy away to one lucky commenter. The competition will close end Monday 10th September (allowing for OS folks to enter as well).

Release Day tomorrow....

It's almost here - the release of Gateway to Hell !

Here's the updated cover for it....

The series title has been added - with all that was going on pre conference, I forgot to mention it but Musa are stars and fixed it up no problem!

I'll be having a launch party over on Facebook tomorrow at 7.30pm, Adelaide time (that's UTC + 9.30).  The event page is here if you want to rsvp. To join tomorrow, just pop onto my page. There will be a giveaway or two.

Also, there will be a giveaway on this blog this coming weekend, so keep an eye out.

Today, I'm over at the DarkSide DownUnder talking Darksiders Reading Challenge.

And I've started posting on Eleni's Library again, so check it out.  Why not become a follower? :)

I'm back

Conference is over and from all the feedback everyone had a good time. What more could we the conference committee want.

I had a few days at the Gold Coast having some r'n'r. Though I'm still recovering.

Loved hotel and staff. They were all smiles. So were most people on the coast. Lovely weather would do that to you. Cold back home.

You can see it's wet as we arrived in Adelaide.

Will do a proper post later.

Into lurk mode

I've been flat out in the last week or so. Conference prep is really heating up as you would expect. I'm in the middle of various projects for that and hope everything will be done by Monday. I fly off to the Gold Coast on Tuesday week and then all the planning of the last 13-14 months will be in sprung into action.

It's exciting and can't wait to catch up with my fellow conference team members for a group hug.

Of course can't wait to catch up with everyone at conference. I love conference. It's a time to be re-energized for this writing path. My actual writing has been sorely non existent in recent months. Though with my releases and the preparation for them has kept me on the path and had been and is a great experience. I'm seeing my work at the end stage. Gotta be happy with that.

I also made an important decision for my health and cut back to 2 subjects this semester. Which will be just right after conference hits.

I've been doing marketing and drawing. A good balance between theory and practical.

A liitle while back I mentioned a visit to the State Library to view some rare illuminated books. Here's a taste of that visit.

I will leave you with that. I'm not sure if I'll blog again until after conference. See you on the other side.

Super Sunday....Cover Love and good news

I had to show off my cover for my upcoming novella, Gateway to Hell.

Can I say how much I love it. My cover goddess (Kelly Shorten from Musa Publishing) has done a wonderful job again. Just love the flower flames and the reflection and light.

Sigh. I'm a happy little camper.

But that's not all. I found out thanks to Kylie Griffin, the queen of news, that I received a Commended for my fantasy novel in RWNZ's Clendon contest.
It's the first time I've entered the Clendon and so I'm very happy to have made it on the Commended list. This MS is one that seems to have 2/3 love it and 1/3 not so much.
It's in one more competition and hopefully will know how that goes soon.

Have a great week!

Stunning Saturday: Books brought to you by the letter W....

Sometimes I agonise over which covers to show you and try to have some sort of theme. Well, I went to the end of my file names and decided on books beginning with the letter W. I usually just save the file name as the default to where I find it, so it was nice to find a few all together.
