Problems Of A Recovering Fangirl #pennydreadful #unf

Danger, Will Robinson!!! Seriously, I really should not start watching this show because LOOK AT HIM. I mean, ugh, it seems like a short tumble down an endless fandom obsession well that I just can’t afford. BUT LOOK AT HIM. *swoons*

Amelia C. Gormley & Marie Sexton on Adult Children of Alcoholics « The Novel Approach

“It’s hard to admit to ourselves (and even harder to admit to anybody else!) that what we want and need most is for the merry-go-round ride to just END. That feels so brutally cold-hearted. And yet, the thought of having the cycle continue is just more than we can bear.”

Dang, Demanding Characters With Musical Opinions! Music from The River Leith #music #playlist #extras

Now, some people might call me crazy, and that’s okay, but my characters have their own opinions about music. I almost always have a book-specific playlist for any novel I’m working on, and the songs are picked by the characters themselves. The following is a link to Leith’s playlist. He chose the songs. He was absolutely fixated on The Vitamin String Quartet covers, but was also mad about The Gaslight Anthem’s acoustic stuff, Snow Patrol, and Billy Bragg. He also had a hard-on for a few Ed Sheeran songs, amongst a select few others.

So, for those interested, press play and see what Leith insisted I listen to as I wrote his book.

Memory is everything. After an injury in the ring, amateur boxer Leith Wenz wakes to discover his most recent memories are three years out of date. Unmoored and struggling to face his new reality, Leith must cope anew with painful revelations about his family. His brother is there to support him, but it’s the unfamiliar face of Zach, a man introduced as his best friend, that provides the calm he craves. Until Zach’s presence begins to stir up feelings Leith can’t explain. For Zach, being forgotten by his lover is excruciating. He carefully hides the truth from Leith to protect them both from additional pain. His bottled-up turmoil finds release through vlogging, where he confesses his fears and grief to the faceless Internet. But after Leith begins to open up to him, Zach's choices may come back to haunt him. Ultimately, Leith must ask his heart the questions memory can no longer answer.

Hooray! 5 Stars for The River Leith! From Kristen Addicted to M/M Romance

“Bottom line? I loved this story. I related to both MCs so much. I understood both of their POVs and thought their feelings were valid and very honest. Wonderful love story about overcoming loss and rebuilding a relationship.”

Joyfully Jay says, “So you guys really need to read this book.” 5 Stars! — The River Leith #mmromance #gay

FIVE STARS from Joyfully Jay for The River Leith!

“So you guys really need to read this book. I truly loved everything about it. I couldn’t put it down and was so sad for it to end.  Blake’s writing is beautiful and so eloquent.  I could feel the tension between the past and the present, of figuring out where to draw the line between remembering their experiences together and building new ones.  The men are sweet, romantic, and incredibly sexy together.  This story is just so fabulous and well done, I highly recommend it.”

Maleficent: My Fast Thoughts #movie

I absolutely loved Maleficent even more than I anticipated. It moved me deeply and touched me in ways I hadn’t expected, especially for a Disney movie. I am hoping that someone will write up all the symbolism and meaning, the mother/daughter stuff, the way women’s wings get clipped and how, in our damage, we wound our daughters, but I’m not going to do that today. Nevertheless, I am anxious for someone to write that up.

I want to state upfront that I loved it because now I’m going to talk about the things that could have been better, in my humble opinion. In the scheme of the movie they aren’t huge, but I just needed to get them off my chest so I can continue my love affair with the rest of it.

The main failing, in my opinion, was the lack of true characterization for Stefan. I would have much preferred being shown Stefan’s greed and ambition, rather than just being told of it. I’d have enjoyed seeing Stefan and Maleficent fall in love–did he ever really love her?–and then I’d like to have been shown the ways temptations of the human world lured him away from his affection for her. I’d have appreciated more of an explanation for his ambition than simply that it was assigned as “human”. I’d have also liked to see Stefan’s wife’s opinion of him, whether they were ‘happy’, or what his life was like before the christening.

If they’d taken the time to do those things, I’d have found the movie pretty much perfect, despite the predictability of the ending. Maybe because of it.

The River Leith – Typos CORRECTED! New Files Uploaded!

Embarrassingly, it came to my attention that there were eighteen typos in the final files in The River Leith that went up for sale two weeks ago. One of those typos came in the middle of a very important conversation between the characters and was quite cringeworthy.

I’d like to apologize to the readers that these errors made it through. It’s kind of amazing given the attention to detail and number of eyes that were on this book, and yet it happened as it did. Regardless, it’s important to me that readers have the best book available in their hands, so I’ve taken the steps and paid to have the files re-formatted and as of two days ago, I’ve officially uploaded new files to all vendors.

Hopefully we have caught all of the typos in the book now and going forward there will be no problem. If you’ve already purchased the book, you can go to the vendor to see about updating the file for your reading.

At Amazon in particular, I know there is an option for updating your file to the corrected version. Here are the directions on how to do that from their page:

Customers can choose to receive the updated files through their Manage Your Kindle page on Amazon.com.  If you’d like to receive updates to your Kindle books that we have confirmed improvements were made in automatically, you can turn on automatic updates for your books from the Manage Your Content and Devices page.

Before you enable the Automatic Book Update feature, make sure to turn on the Annotations Backup for your Kindle device or Kindle reading app to sync your notes, highlights, bookmarks, and furthest page read. The following devices automatically enable the Annotations Backup:  Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire HDX, Kindle for Android, Kindle for Windows 8, and Kindle for BlackBerry 10.  As a result, you cannot turn off the Annotations Backup.

Follow these steps to enable the Automatic Book Update:

1.  Visit the Manage Your Content and Devices page

2.  Select “Automatic Book Update” from the left navigation bar.

3.  Click Turn On.
