Highest paid public employees - this explains a lot.
This graphic is a good example of showing one side of the story and ignoring what really matters.
If the Ohio State Football team brought in $75 million in revenue (or whatever it did) that funded student athletic scholarships in myriad sports, and gave kids an opportunity at a free education they might not have had (including a lot of women and minorities), why not pay Urban Meyer $5 million?
That’s just 7% of revenue.
That’s fair.
What isn’t right is allowing said football players (young men aged 18-22, in most cases) to work for an annual salary of $15,000-$25,000 (or whatever it is a college education costs these days) to entertain the millions of us who watch college sports while they put their lives (yes, their lives in some cases) on the line.
America is a sports nation. America is a nation of businesses. And sports are (gasp) a business. Now pay the kids what they’re due.
