German Editions!

Margot, a reader from Germany, has been kind enough to send me details of a German edition of The Chaperon Bride which is published by MIRA this month. There is also another of my titles coming from MIRA in Germany in November! It's always a thrill to hear from readers when books of mine are available abroad because I don't usually get notified of their publication so don't know when they hit the shelves. Thank you very much, Margot, and if anyone else sees a Nicola Cornick book in their...

The only breed of dog named after a literary character!

One of the "characters" in Whisper of Scandal is Max the terrier. Max, whose topknot ribbon is always colour-co-ordinated to Joanna's gown, gives the impression of being lazy and – dare I say it – a little bit stupid, but of course like many dogs he simply has his world arranged to suit his own convenience and is clever enough to get away with it. Alex quickly learns that if he throws Max out of the bedroom the dog will find away to sneak back in – and creep into bed between him and Joanna.

And The Winner Is…

The winner of the Weekend Goody Giveaway, chosen by Monty the dog, is Barbara! Congratulations, Barbara, and if you could email me with your address I will put the prize in the mail to you. Thank you all for your nominations for favourite Regency celebrities. I'd like to see them all together at a reality TV type party or maybe in the pages of Regency Hello magazine! What fun it would be to write a spoof copy of that!

Weekend Goody Giveaway!

There are ten days to go until the publication of Whisper of Scandal and the launch of my new trilogy, and it's weekend goody giveaway again on the blog! One of the themes of Whisper of Scandal is celebrity and I'll be blogging about Regency fame and fortune on Lesley-Anne McLeod's blog next week. But until then, I'm asking you to name YOUR favourite famous Regency celebrity. Was it Horatio Nelson for his heroism, or Beau Brummell (pictured, right, in the elegant form of James Purefoy) or...

The Secret Life of a Country Village

A few days ago I visited the ancient village of Kintbury in Berkshire. I love places like Kintbury; these days it is a quiet and picturesque little village on the Kennet and Avon Canal but it has such a rich history that you could write a whole series of books about the place. My particular interest in it is the link between Kintbury and Jane Austen and the Earls of Craven, who owned the nearby estate at Hamstead Marshall. The Cravens were frequent visitors to the Dundas family at Barton...

Interview with Christina Courtenay

Earlier this year I was lucky enough to read an advance copy of Christina Courtenay's new book Trade Winds. Now, I love books with different and unusual settings (as you've probably guessed if you've read about the background to my soon-to-be released historical Whisper of Scandal) so I knew Christina's book would be right up my street. It's set in 1732 in Sweden and the Far East and it's fascinating. As if that wasn't treat enough, the story has a gorgeous Scottish hero, and it's packed...

The Heart of Cooking

Today I wanted to mention The Heart of Cooking, a special cookbook in aid of the Snap4kids charity. Snap4kids assists families of children with special needs to help their child reach their full potential. The Heart of Cooking contains over 125 favourite recipes from 100 authors. My contribution is my favourite macadamia nut cookie recipe. It was a tough choice between that and my traditional Yorkshire recipes including my grandmother's Yorkshire pudding! I can't wait to get my hands on a...
