Went to the BAUHAUS event on Saturday in Chicago. Not only did I have the fortune of hearing phenomenal poems by Jamie Kazay, Larry Sawyer, and many others, but also phenomenal music. I was taken with the sax player's sounds the most. Like Coltrane. Which is to say reaching toward the divine. He stunned. I could and will dwell another time on the great work, particularly of Miss Kazay, but for now - another focus.

That said, the centerpiece may have been the presentation on the destruction of the

Night Fast by Allyssa Wolf

Night Fast Night Fast by Allyssa Wolf

My review
rating: 5 of 5 stars
Marked as "read," it will always be also. Current

ly.

If I said, these poems extend beyond "Vaudeville," it would not do either justice. Best? What is "Best"? Beast. dear deer heart people polis gut gutter.

Allyssa Wolf is creating the best poetry I've ever read. There's nothing like it. Comes from every and no. Prophetic.

Night Fast.

Modern Love...XII I think...

from Modern Love, by George Meredith

At dinner, she is hostess, I am host.
Went the feast ever cheerfuller? She keeps
The Topic over intellectual deeps
In buoyancy afloat. They see no ghost.
With sparkling surface-eyes we ply the ball:
It is in truth a most contagious game:
Hiding the Skeleton, shall be its name.
Such play as this the devils might appal!
But here's the greater wonder; in that we,
Enamoured of an acting nought can tire,
Each other, like true hypocrites, admire;
Warm-lighted looks, Love's eph

as Hans Derks was saying

And I had to think about it:

Ashley Capps - a reading and a few words

A reading is in order. To listen, dear reader, press here. One of my favorite readers, I could listen to her read times infinity. Any text. Here, doubly fortunate, as Capps is reading her work. "What Constitutes a Proper Planet" - and what comes after! Which is no strike on what was before. Just, the turn there I note. Notes.

Ashley Capps' book Mistaking the Sea for Green Fields was published by The University of Akron Press in 2006.

Carrie Olivia Adams

Carrie Olivia Adams' Intervening Absence is a mind-bending book and I'm not going to write a long review about how amazing it is, about the space between the lines and the lines themselves, how what isn't said is as important as what is said. Not right now at least. I will note, however, that some fortunate people can hear her read from her amazing work at the following locations:

March 25
Athens, GA / The University of Georgia
4:00 PM / Park Hall 265
Press Release

March 26
Atlanta, GA / Emory Univers
