So Where Have I Been?

You may have seen a lack of posts for a few weeks. Don’t worry, everthing is fine, I just got interrupted.

I got a very mild case of covid – so mild my doctor didn’t prescribe anything (as she noted, any medication would probably make me feel worse). All I had was sore throat for a day, then a 48-hour fever two days later. However I ha...

“Think Agile, Write Better”: (Deep Breath) The Draft is COMPLETE!  Yes, I have the draft done – which means this week I slide into editing it heavily.  It’s shaping up to be only about 100 pages or so, which is within my limits (I wanted less than 130).  Expect it to go to beta in a month or so!

The Way With Worlds series: The new covers ...

Going Big To Go Small

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com, Steve’s Tumblr, and Pillowfort.  Find out more at my newsletter, and all my social media at my linktr.ee)

Sometimes minimalism requires excess.

I took an interest in “minimalist games” the last few months.  It started with “Vampire Survivors” a simple Castlevaninia inspired game that turned complex adventures into “automatically killing hordes of monsters.”  Soon I discovered games like Gunlocked, 20  Minutes to Die, and more.  All of these g...

A Certain Sustaining Fire

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com, Steve’s Tumblr, and Pillowfort.  Find out more at my newsletter, and all my social media at my linktr.ee)

As I crawl back to some form of normal creative pacing after the last few weeks, I got annoyed with how I spent some time.  When I found myself too tired to write, I’d do some graphic experiments with photoshop.  Was this a waste of time when I could write?  Why did I do it.

Then it struck me, it wasn’t a waste of time at all.

The crea...

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com, Steve’s Tumblr, and Pillowfort.  Find out more at my newsletter, and all my social media at my linktr.ee)

“Think Agile, Write Better”: Is making much more progress!  I’d tag the first draft at about 75% done.  However as I write it I’m adding new content and rethinking some formatting issues.  So if you beta-read (HINT), the final result might get some notable changes.

The Way With Worlds series: The new covers are moving forward now that I’m...

If you subscribe to my newsletter you know I’ve been exhausted lately.  The decrease in blog posts and the less enthusiastic updates may have also tipped you off.

So anyway, I’ve been exhausted.  Work, various world crises, allergies, friends and family with COVID, and so on have really piled up.  I’m not saying I’m unique – I’m not – I’m...

Writing With Friends, Friends With Writing

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com, Steve’s Tumblr, and Pillowfort.  Find out more at my newsletter, and all my social media at my linktr.ee)

Serdar’s latest article on feedback investigated why we need feedback to know we’re not going wrong. Positive feedback has its limits, after all.

That article got me thinking about feedback from my fellow writers and socializing with my fellow writers. These are things that I others value, but I’ve come to realize that you don’t always ge...

“Think Agile, Write Better”: I had a few interruptions, but seem to have my pace back. It’s still slower than I’d like because of the “change of voice,” but that’s the way it goes.  I’m going to push this hard so I can get a draft out to people.

It’s fascinating to write because it’s helping me review my own writing and see where I did ...
