Dec 21, 2011 only 365 days left until the end of the Mayan long count, the end of an era begins?

Mayan Long CountIt is the beginning of the end of the world as you know it! We are all going to die, the planet is going to fold in on itself and Aliens are going to exterminate us, or the Earth is going flip on is axis. You must of heard this right? Hard to escape not know that the world is going to end onf December 21, 2012. One year, 365 days from this point is the end of the Mayan Long Count a point in time that many are saying signifies the end of the world. That the planets are going to align, Ragnorak wakes up, Aliens land, the Anti-Christ walks the Earth in short it is going to be the end of us all.

Well… Actually it isn't… Doom, fire and brimstone merchants jump on every possible ending of the world date they can. Why do they do this? It isn't to inform, it isn't to save us from ourselves, its too line there own wallets. Remember the fuss over Y2K? The Con-man of Family Radio and his May 21st Rapture? Whenever I hear about End of the World Prophesy's I get very skeptical and always ask people to think for themselves.

Mayan Long CountMy theory is the Mayan's just got tired of counting, of calculating so far out that they figured they will add to the calender should the need arrive. While Dec 21, 2012 is supposed to be the end of an Age and we move forward into a greater spiritual awakening, I doubt we will feel anything other than the day turning to Dec 22 and being one step closer to Christmas. To be more honest I'm more worried about that asteroid that is swinging around into our orbital path in 2036, than anything happening around Dec 21, 2012. The future after all is what we make it, and we are given the gifts to make this happen as we choose.

So in closing, we might be looking at an end of an era, that I can believe. After all the only constant is change and the last couple of years we've seen some interesting changes across the entire world. Live your life, enjoy your family and friends. Think for yourself and don't be a sheep, eh?

Of course I could be completely wrong, so just in case I welcome our Alien overlords :P

Quick Sketch – Wilma the Bunny, a concept of a possible character from A Teddy Bear Tale Book Two

Yes I know A Teddy Bear Tale is barely out of the door and I'm already exploring options for a sequel. With the help of Dan Nokes and his daily Quick Sketch challenge I'm exploring concepts of possible characters that may appear in this tale. The above sketch is Wilma Bunny, a possible new companion for Tristan in his next set of adventures.Wilma Bunny is the cuddly toy of Tristan's ex-child's older sister who was put in her box in the attic many years before Tristan retired. I see her as a little more high strung and not as calm or collected as Tristan, like she is trying to be in a dozen different places at once. At the moment this all concept work to help me visualize an idea of a story that may fit part two of Tristan's ongoing adventures, however just like Pixar nothing will happen unless I can capture the whimsical spirit of the original tale, and that my friends is the hardest part.

First Look – The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey Teaser Trailer

The Hobbit as a book is a lot different in tone to The Lord of the Rings and I wasn't too sure if it would ever make the translation into a movie; especially considering how realistic they made Middle Earth. The trailer does look very promising… Check it out yourself :)

How to get the illustrated story A Teddy Bear Tale in time for Christmas and help me save my family at the same time

A Teddy Bear Tale CoverAre you wondering how to get a copy of A Teddy Bear Tale in time for Christmas? The best way to pick up a printed copy of this wonderful illustrated story of Tristan the Teddy Bear defending his child from the Monsters under the Bed, and get it in your hand for Christmas is to get it direct from Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/dp/1466427116/

As you know my situation isn't great and the last couple of weeks things have gone down hill way too fast, and there is very real chance we will be homeless by the end of January, this book could save me and my family I can self-rescue, but I need your help. If you buy this book direct from Amazon (not the other book partners listed) it is the best way to get a larger share of the royalities direct to this author and get it in your hand for Christmas.

Or if you can wait until after Christmas you can buy it direct from the website by clicking here, remember you can also pick this book up in the eBook format of your choice as well. Thank you :)

Turning the world the right side up with a few simple words, this is why I wrote a Teddy Bear Tale

A Teddy Bear TaleIt is no secret that the last few weeks have not been kind to me and my family, but today I read something that made my heart glad. Over the last few days I've been shipping out copies of A Teddy Bear Tale to all my Kickstarter Backers and Prerelease sales, and today I got the news the first of these books are reaching their audience. Here is the first comment I got about A Teddy Bear Tale the book that for today has at least turned the world the right side up.

'Just read a teddy bear tale to my kids. Instant classic. It brought smiles to both my 10 and 3 year olds faces. Well done gentlemen. Dan my oldest girl loves your art' – Kickstarter Backer Russell

I have to tell you all this, learning that my words, that a story about a little Teddy Bear has put a smile on two children's faces today as their Father read it to them is priceless, a feeling I will not trade for anything in the world. Today the world turned the right way, domo arigato :)

1913 – 2011 RIP Joe Simon the Co-Creator of Captain America

Joe SimonToday I learned the news that the co-creator of Captain America Joe Simon died at the grand old age of 98. Thank you sir for helping create one of the most iconic and well balanced comic character of our time – Captain America, he may of been born on the wings of patriotism, but they created a true hero. Cap is what every man must strive, his ideologies, his heart, his ideas, and his will to fight for what he believed in even the against all the odds is an inspiration. Thank you Joe for creating a true legacy, RIP

Toy concepts from the Tim Burton Superman Lives movie emerge

Superman LivesSuperman, an iconic character and a staple superhero of generations; it is a mystery that a character with ongoing appeal would have so much difficulty relaunching a movie. Sure we had Superman Returns which actually wasn't that bad an effort, even if it did have reheated up script from the first movie in the 80′s.

Now thanks to the wonder of the internet concept sketches of the toys that were going to based on the abandoned Tim Burton/Nicholas Cage Superman Lives movie have emerged. The interesting thing about seeing those concepts is in reinforces the Producers Jon Peters edict that the traditional suit was banned from the movie. Click the images in the gallery to see more, I  like the Kryptonian Explorer remind me of the double punch Superman plane.
