Europe 2017 – Day Three-Four
Poseidon's Log

DAY THREE-FOUR
There is so much to do, we find ourselves a day behind in the Log...Poseidon visited us today and reminded us that we have a duty to report...so here we are catching up.
Yesterday was amazing! We visited Fira, one of the main towns (the other being Oia) on Santorini. Fira’s old port is the sight in Tides of Change where Daria and Kyla came to the old port and ran into Evan in the square. The old port was just exactly as I had pictured it!!! Up and down winding s...

Europe 2017 – Day Two
Poseidon’s Log

DAY TWO
Since I made the mistake of promising a daily log…the task has befallen me to become a pale replica of Hemmingway…But my plan is to force the family writer to write! We’ll see how well, I coerce that woman into that role.
Well, so much for the first day of relaxation. Our body clocks were all screwed up and at 4AM, after a virtually sleepless night, (tap dancing anyone?) we ate a continental breakfast and headed to the airport. Our excitement increase exponentially as...

DAY ONE
The long awaited day of departure has arrived and the two Explorers (said with a HUGE grain of salt) are “beside themselves”… literally. Having endured the 4AM wake up call, the intrepid’s made their way to the airport and through customs with only minor losses: Wine Opener and Toothpaste…who needs toothpaste? But the WINE OPENER??? Really? Job One after we land already determined!
With a short stop in Philadelphia, we will be winging our way to Athens airport for a on...

Whatever You say bounces off Me and sticks on You!
Canon #4 from “Tides of Change; Book One of The Atlantis Chronicles”:
Whether in the heavens or the earth
We are bound by the same essence that creates life
Hurt another and you ultimately hurt yourself
This is simply the law of “you reap what you sow,” or Karma or “cause and effect” or “for every reaction, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”
If a pebble is dropped into a small pool, the ripples spre...

Magnificent Creatures Headed for Extinction
Can you even imagine a world without these magnificent, caring mammals?

Did you know that if you blow into an elephant’s trunk…and even if you never see that elephant again until the day before you leave this earth…your friend will remember you! That is just one of the remarkable traits of an elephant.
However, our largest land mammals are on the endangered list because of man’s greed for nothing but their ivory…when will the hunting of these beautiful, intelligent, familial creatures stop?
“Whe...

**** 4 out of 5 stars Blew my mind away with this book
Susan MacIver blew my mind away with this book. The detail that went into the world building was near perfect. I felt connected to her characters and the story by its self was mind grasping. I will admit though that it did take a couple of chapters to get there but once you do it physically pains to put the book down. Its been awhile since i felt that much for a book I am defiantly going to put this on my new year re read list. ---Oz Mikhail, Reviewer, Net Galley

I very seldom read novels like Tides of Change, but at the urging of a friend I decided to try it. Am I ever glad I did! Susan's exhaustive research, character building, and story telling prowess had me hooked from page one. Her expertly entwined mixture of lore, fantasy, romance, intrigue, human frailty and hope kept me turning pages until my eyes were too tired to continue. What a great read and I can't wait until the next one is published!!

Talk to the Animals!
Canon #3: No matter the form
All life is held sacred
This Canon is probably self-explanatory. However, I would like to share some experiences that have taught me, that no matter the form, life is sacred.
I remember sitting outside on the porch stairs eating my breakfast toast. It was a beautifully mild, sunny morning and I was enjoying the moment when a blackbird flew down and stood about five feet from me. I looked at him and he looked back as if...

Canon #2: The healing power descends through my lineage
Live that you flourish
Attend not and you will surely weaken
In “The Atlantis Chronicles,” the healing power (granted by Poseidon and inherited through the maternal line) was a beautiful gift. He wanted his people to enjoy optimum health and very long lives. (I believe that good ‘ole boy enjoyed partyin’ down and never wanted it to stop)…HOWEVER (cue the “Jaws” music) those gifts came wi...

You are What you Think!
Canon#1: As children of Poseidon you are granted the paradise that is Atlantis
In the purity of your actions will it remain thus
I have no idea where this first Canon came from! However, I will try to elaborate…
Rules…why do we have them? Moderate behavior? Help societies flourish? Possibly help people live better lives? Certainly to help us live together without infringing, too much, on another’s right’s.
Through the ages we have dream...

Thou Shalt…Canons for the Ages!

Thou Shalt…Canons for the Ages!
The Atlantis Chronicles Canons Overview
“The Canons” are the rules or code of conduct that I decided to use in The Atlantis Chronicles. When imagining a written code around which the Atlanteans could build and live their lives, I saw Poseidon, as the god and creator of Atlantis, handing down these 8 (the number 8 turned on its side, reflecting the symbol for infinity) Universal Truths. When he did, he promised his people their...
