Un-fucking-believable
There are more cartoon-based theatrical features moving into production than ever before. The demand for CGI animation and 3-D thrills has contributed greatly to this, but so has the complete dearth of new ideas from which to make animated fantasy films (AVATAR and most of Pixar's outputs being notable exceptions). With executives afraid to take a chance on anything new, they gladly fall back on characters from classic children's books, comic books, toy lines, old Saturday morning cartoons,...

Curl of my dreams....
Americans do it, Canadians do it, the Beatles did it (in HELP) and the Scots invented it.
Two weeks ago the Simpsons did it on national television.
What is it?
Only the hottest event at the Winter Olympics ---
Curling.
Yeah, you know, sliding a rock down the ice and using a broom to um, do something.
And this week, Jingle Belle does it, too. Check out the latest strip here:

Guess who? Ha-ha-ha-HA-ha!
Interesting news on the Cryptomundo site this AM regarding the possible rediscovery of the Ivory Billed Woodpecker. Supposedly photos are on the way, though I hope this doesn't turn out like the hoaxed Tasmanian tiger photos some German tourists tried to pass off a few years back.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Christmas Tidings
I guess I should begin this post in the tone of one of those tiresome holiday letters everyone receives from some family member they barely know:
"Well, it's been quite a year for the Doglunch brood. Aunt Snert's in prison again, baby Googer said his first word (the filthy beast) and nephew Grozell is now niece Grozelline."
Ah, but that's too much work and besides, I'm already attempting one of those dreadful end of the year poems where you try and rhyme the name of everyone you know: "Let's r...

Jingle change
For a variety of reasons, including scheduling delays and my own ineptitude in web design/maintenance, the new JINGLE BELLE strips will NOT be presented on the Jingle Belle website but at:
http://www.quickstopentertainment.com/jinglebelle/jingle-belle-01.html
Big thanks to Ken Plume, Kevin Smith and the rest of the Quick Stop gang for including Jing in this year's Holiday Havoc. And of course, an extra dip in Santa's goodie bag for Stephanie Gladden for her mad cartooning chops.
The first strip...

December update
First things first - while there won't be a new Jingle Belle book this year, Stephanie Gladden and I will be doing a bunch of new Sunday-style JB strips for the http://www.jinglebelle.com/ website. The first one will be up next week, but here's a preview of Steph's gorgeous pencils to hold you over until then. Click on the image for a more detailed view:
We're looking at running new Jing cartoons not only through December but thru the rest of the coming winter. Check back often for updates....

Thanksgiving treats
Oh boy, Thanksgiving week. Turkey, cranberries, rum cider, oyster dressing and more pies than humans should be allowed to consume. And while you're digesting, you can take in a crappy holiday movie (2012) or a good one (FANTASTIC MR. FOX) or throw in A DVD of a holiday classic (PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES, MIRACLE ON 34th ST.) or, if you're like me, watch the Lions lose again.
To get you in the holiday mood, I've posted some links to some Thanksgiving goodies. And just for fun, you can...
