Mews and Nips: Cats and Spring Shoes
I’m not really into fashion, but the recent editorial in Vogue magazine titled “The Cat and the Flat: Spring Shoes and Kittens Make the Perfect Pair” caught my eye. Clearly, Vogue has caught on that anything looks better with a cat, even designer flats. Of course I’m not sure this was the smartest marketing decision in this case, since the cats definitely take the eye away from the admittedly gorgeous shoes. The photos in this whimsical feature are absolutely stunning. Click here for the slid...

Review: Bunnies and Kitties: A Cuddly Collection of Fur and Friendship
Just in time for Easter comes a guilt and calorie-free treat: Bunnies and Kitties: A Cuddly Collection of Fur and Friendship presents more than one hundred adorable photos of cats, kittens and bunnies. All of the photos are paired with sometimes sweet, sometimes silly captions, and you can’t help but smile at some of the unlikely friendships portrayed in this little book. A few of the photos are almost ridiculously cute.
From the introduction:
“Some books are depositories of timeless wisdom. So...

Chronic Vomiting In Cats Is Not Normal
Vomiting in cats is not normal. Period. Far too many cat guardians rationalize occasional, or even chronic, vomiting with explanations such as “he just eats too fast,” “she has a sensitive stomach,” or “it’s just a hairball.” Chronic vomiting can be an indicator of serious diseases of the small intestine, including inflammatory bowel disease and intestinal lymphoma.
Dr. Gary Norsworthy, a feline veterinarian and owner of the Alamo Feline Health Center in San Antonio, TX, recently conducted a s...

Jackson Galaxy and Petmate Introduce New Line of Cat Toys at Global Pet Expo
Of all the products I wanted to see at Global Pet Expo, I was most excited about getting a first look at the new line of toys created by Jackson Galaxy. Jackson introduced the concept of “hunt, catch, kill, eat” in his wildly successful Animal Planet show My Cat From Hell. The concept revolutionized life for countless cats who had previously been bored house cats with behavioral challenges. Jackson taught cat guardians that cats need an enriched environment and play time to be happy. So if an...

Mews and Nips: Back from Global Pet Expo Edition
I spent the last four days in warm and sunny Orlando, FL, at the Global Pet Expo. This is the largest trade show of pet products anywhere in the world. There were close to 1,000 exhibitors in almost 3,000 booth in the Orange County Convention Center. It seemed like the whole show covered at least the size of two football fields, and I walked dozens of miles over the last few days! In the coming weeks, I’ll be bringing you lots of cool information about the products I saw there, including my c...

5 Cat Artists to Watch
Cats are the most beautiful and mysterious creatures on the planet, and it’s no wonder that they’ve been an inspiration to artists for centuries. From hieroglyphs on tomb walls in ancient Egypt to digital artists today, cats have been immortalized in paintings, photography, sculpture and design.
Contemporary cat artists use mediums ranging from oil to water color to digital photography to capture cat’s allure, charm and grace.
In a recent article on Answers.com, I introduced five cat artists th...
