ArtOrder's Latest "Ask the Art Director" series

Another great post by Jon Schindehette in his ArtOrder "Ask the Art Director" series. This one asks, "Can I Be a Cover Artist?" Great responses from artist Todd Lockwood, Tor Art Director Irene Gallo, Wizards of the Coast's Kate Irwin, illustrator Ralph Horsley, CthulhuTech Art Director Mike Vaillancourt, and Yours Truly. For anyone interested in illustration, not just those looking for a career in it, the post is well worth checking out.

Impossible to Put Down

"The book was near impossible to put down," says Neth Space on Kristine Kathryn Rusch's Diving into the Wreck. "Diving into the Wreck was something of a departure from my usual fair and a departure that rewarded me well. The deep introspection combined with palpable tension created a near-perfect balance throughout. And Rusch does it all less than 300 pages. This one isn't just for fans of traditional science fiction. 8/10"
Meanwhile, Elitist Book Reviews says of Mark Chadbourn's The Silver...

Locus 2009 Recommended Reading List

Locus magazine have released their Recommended Reading List (also published in their February issue).

James Enge's Blood of Ambrose appears in the category of First Novels.

Ian McDonald is on for Cyberabad Days for Collections, and from that collection, "Vishnu at the Cat Circus" is on for Novellas.

The UK edition of Paul McAuley's Gardens of the Sun also made the list (ours comes out in March).

Congratulations to all three authors!

The Cosmic Balance (i.e. my ego) is Tilted!!

Another review for the The Clockwork Jungle Book , Shimmer magazine's 11th issue, which contains my story, "And How His Audit Stands."

This time, the Mad Hatter Bookshelf and Book Review says:
"Anders surprised me with one of the most well thought-out and adventurous stories in the bunch yet the animal theme is a bit lost. He somehow gives a new life to trains with great Western style flair. I recently learned that Mike Resnick upcoming Steampunk themed series Weird West was initially Lou's...

Don't Tell Me There's Nothing to Read...

"Kay Kenyon's The Entire and the Rose is one of the very best ongoing science fiction series on the market today. A rich, vivid environment; complex and multilayered storytelling; genuine and interesting characters; brilliant execution; that's The Entire and the Rose in a nutshell....  Prince of Storms is the perfect conclusion to what could well be one of the most ambitious and fascinating ongoing scifi series out there. Highly recommended. . ." Pat's Fantasy Hotlist

The Cosmic Balance (i.e. my ego) is Maintained!!

Reviews are starting to come in for the The Clockwork Jungle Book , Shimmer magazine's 11th issue, an issue of steampunk-toned, anthropomorphic fables. The issue has 172 pages of stories, included among them my own "And How His Audit Stands."

Of which Sam Tomaino, of SFRevu, says:
...makes for a fine story and a truly imaginative one.
But contrast this with Lois Tilton over at The Internet Review of Science Fiction , who writes:
Here, the animal aspect is downplayed to insignificance, despite...
