Our dystopian world
The simple questions - Why are the UK and US economies crashing, why do they have so much debt, why are the populations of both countries now poorer in monetary terms than their parents were [i.e. both parents now have to work to make ends meet] and why is the state no longer able to afford the basic infrastructure of advanced societies?
It's a really easy answer -
1/ The wealthy have bribed our political leaders into allowing them to export our manufacturing base to the third world where they can utilise cheap labour in horrendous working conditions, in this way the rich 1% improve their returns in the form of higher dividends and get richer.
2/ The 1% then offshore their accounts to avoid paying tax and contributing to society.
3/ Meanwhile the 99% back in the UK and US are left in low income service industry jobs which do not earn anything for the nation, it's merely me paying you to provide a service for me.
4/ Added to that we have increased immigration of cheap labour from the third world or Eastern Europe which is driving wages down, increasing competition for vacancies and putting extra strain on the social infrastructure, like the NHS and schools etc.
5/ Net result is the state cannot raise enough taxes from the 99% to pay for the things it used to leading to demands for austerity and cuts, wage restrictions and pension cuts etc, the 99% have less money in their pockets and find themselves in greater debt to the banks and the 1%.
6/ China and India invest the increased taxes they earn in armaments instead of their social infrastructure leading to escalating tensions. When the UK and US can no longer afford their military commitments these countries will supplant them.
The list goes on but ultimately the UK and US governments will go bankrupt, throwing the lives of the 99% into chaos and unrecoverable poverty whilst the 1% will live in segregated enclaves of obscene opulence.
WARNING: No country ever recovered from such despair naturally, they all needed financial investment but there will be none because the 1% will get their incomes from labour in the third world and their cheap services from low income immigrants.
The truth is that the 1% in the UK and US no longer need the 99% for manufacture or for war, not now that they have cheap labour and high tech weapons and drones; the 99% are totally obsolete in the minds of the 1%.
