Miami Archbishop: Take US Catholics' majority position, lose your job

Even well before we had so many states proving how benign and peaceful the notion of civil marriage equality really is, a sizable majority of US Catholics stood in support of the freedom. Sadly, that hasn't stopped the leadership from threatening those who channel their religious freedom in a supportive way:

On Tuesday, the Archbishop of Miami, Thomas Wenski, sent a letter to his employees lamenting the arrival of marriage equality to the state and warning staff members that they could lose th...

NOM fails at year-end fundraising

Frankly, I always have trouble believing the graphs that purport to show their fundraising progress, since the upticks are often jerky and seemingly inorganic. But when even their own graph admits that they came up over $60k short in their year-end "matching gift challenge," you know things are not going well over at the National Organization For Marriage:

Orgs never fail at these kinds of goals. Or at least they hide it when they do.

But hey, this is NOM we're tal...

Florida: Otherwise optionless anti-gay group delivers last ditch load of B.S.

On January 1, U.S. District Judge Robert L. Hinkle clarified that the constitution requires all Florida clerks to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couple beginning on January 6. The Florida Clerks Association, which had previously warned clerks about issuing licenses, has reversed itself and instructed clerks that they must comply with the law. And even Republican Attorney General Pam Bondi, who has become something of a figurehead for inequality in the Sunshine State, has reluctantly agre...

This org. is trying to shape *civil* marriage policy

The National Organization For Marriage no longer pretending its objections to civil marriage equality is based on anything other than personal faith:

In twenty-four hours, NOM has only managed to squeeze out fifteen ReTweets. Good to see most Twitter users realize that supporting trite memes like this one is kind of like attaching a religious ceremony to your civil marriage: always optional.

AFA's top spokesman, thinker: Make adultery and homosexuality illegal

I will remind you that Bryan Fischer is the Director of Issues Analysis for the American Family Association. I will remind you that he is enough of a mainstream conservative to have been invited to speak immediately after then-candidate Mitt Romney at the 2011 Values Voters Summit. I will remind you that Republican politicians as prominent as US Senator Rand Paul still regularly appear on his AFA Radio show.

And this is what he wants for America:

Professional discriminator plans professional visionary's hellacious eternal retirement

Peter LaBarbera, a man who has built his entire career around condemnation of and discrimination against LGBT people, is now going after Apple CEO Tim Cook (pic). According Tim-Cookto LaBarbera, the proudly gay leader of one of the world's most powerful and iconic brand is actually on the fast track to a fiery afterlife alongside Satan himself:

And so along comes Tim Cook, the celebrated CEO of Apple Inc, with the revelation that he has embraced homosexual desires and behavior. Writes Cook:

“I’m proud...

Amazon, AT&T, Bloomberg, CBS, Cox Enterprises, Delta, Deutsche Bank, eBay, Electronic Arts, General Electric, Kimpton, Levi Strauss, Marriott, Oracle, Pfizer, Staples, Symantec, Target, Viacom, and a handful of other major corporations are standing in support of equality. They've all joined an amicus brief calling on the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals (which encompasses Florida, Alabama, and Georgia) to stand with marriage equality:

College professor and anti-gay activist Robert Oscar Lopez yet again lies about me—in a legal document

In the couple of years that viciously anti-gay activist Robert Oscar Lopez has been on my radar, I have sent precisely one email to precisely one person pointing out how extreme this college professor's quote bank actually is. This is the full text of that lone email, which I sent to an organizer at Stanford University who had booked Mr. Lopez as a keynote speaker at a Catholic student conference:

My one and only email was 100% respectful, to the point where it would surely annoy some LGBT act...

AP report: FDA to recommend end on gay blood ban! (*UPDATED with big restriction)

Huge and unexpected news on this Christmas Eve Eve:

Yay. I knew Santa would listen when I asked him for less stigma and more opportunities to spend afternoons getting woozy for a good cause.

*Eh, it's not as good as I thought:

The FDA on Tuesday proposed to allow gay men to become blood donors if they haven't had sex with other men for a year or more.
