Special Needs 2: The ParaSnatcher!

Special Needs 2 is coming in huge steps! It will be published on the 10th of December.

(Psst, there’s giveaway info at the end of this post :) )

The special illustration we commissioned from Kkohaku, comes from the second volume and features a scene in which Liam and Ryan become an Internet meme. It sums up just how crazy this story is. The meme is called ‘The ParaSnatcher‘ and yes, Liam is sporting a monkeytail mustache.

Special Needs vol1&2 amounted to over a quarter of a million words. That’s one hell of a journey! We can’t wait to share the second part of this story with our readers. If you have at least half the fun that we had writing it, our mission will be accomplished.

When we embarked on writing Special Needs, we knew that the topic of transability and Body Integrity Identity Disorder was obscure at best. But some stories are just dying to be told and we were both fascinated by these issues since the first time we’ve read about them. But even though we wanted to have BIID as one of the main conflicts, we didn’t want the book to be just about that. Nor did we want to write a story about coming to terms with being with a partner who is disabled – sure, it can be an issue, but it’s been done to death, and we believe it can be quite offensive if it is the only conflict in the story.

We wanted to create a love story with relatable, quirky characters whose whole life doesn’t come down to dwelling on one type of issue. That was one of the reasons we decided to make this story so long. We wanted to show a slow and steady progress of a relationship and how the issues unravel on the way. How Ryan tries to learn more about owning a business, how Liam has to adjust to a completely different type of partner. And we didn’t want to just skim over all of that, write that ‘within the last month, Liam and Ryan bonded’. We wanted to show what they do together, what a good fit they are, and how they grow to love one another. Whether a long story like this is something the reader enjoys or not, is up to the reader’s judgment, but I feel happy that we got to tell this story the way we wanted to.

We didn’t just put it into two volumes because of the length, but because of the plot as well. Since the beginning, we had this vision that the story is two parts – one focuses on how Liam and Ryan become a couple, while the second is about coming clean about their issues. So I know some readers wanted to kill us for that cliffhanger, but it just felt right. Now the story is complete though, so I hope it won’t be as bad to have it in two parts as it could have seemed when only volume 1 was out.

Even though this story is finished, both me and Agnes will miss Ryan and Liam after spending so much time with them, so we might cook up a short story in the future. We have one idea for that, but no promises, since it will probably be a while until we get to it. If you’re interested, pop back to our website every now and then for updates.

Doggie Bagg’d is out!

The new instalment of the XXX’d series is now available on All Romance eBooks and Smashwords. Amazon usually takes a bit longer, but it’s a matter of hours :) This book is set after Rainbow Bash’d, but before Clown’d, though all those shorts can be read as standalone stories. This time, the kinky couple, Kyle and Dan, play out a fantasy that is the K.A. Merikan take on puppy play ;)

This book will be free on the 05/12/2013 London time ;)

— This is no puppy play. —

Since Kyle was a teenager, he had a dirty fantasy about being ravished by a beast. This year, Kyle is taking the plunge and letting his new boyfriend, Dan, meet his parents for Christmas. It might be time to share one of his most secret fantasies with Dan and see if he doesn’t freak out. They’ve been going out for a few months and explored their sexuality together, but Kyle knows this particular fantasy is a bit different.

Will Dan turn out to be a stud dog or a puppy?

*

‘Doggie Bagg’d’ is a standalone story in the XXX’d series, but can be read as #3

POSSIBLE SPOILERS:

Themes: breeder, dog, puppy, pet play, doggie play, established couple

Genre: erotica, contemporary

Erotic content: pet play, stud dog, sexual role play, mock-bestiality, breeding, bareback, rough sex, anal sex, mock-dubious consent

Special Needs 2 – coming soon! :)

A little making-of for the Special Needs 2 cover :) It’s hard for me to express just how much I love those colors, Ryan’s lovely hair and the surreal composition :)

We’re wrapping up the editing right now and the book will go through yet another proofread, but it’s coming. We wanted to have it out by the end of November, but bear with us if that ends up being longer – it is a massive book.

On this occasion, we’ll be discounting the first book to $3.99 on all our usual retailers :) (AllRomance, Amazon, Smashwords) UNTIL 1ST OF DECEMBER :)

It will be hard for me to part with those characters, but everything needs to end at some point, I suppose. We have a plan for a special episode sometime in the future, but that’s a distant idea with all the other books we have planned.

I think what I loved about writing this crazy story most was that it’s like a roller coaster. One second, I was laughing at a goofy joke and the next second, the situation was extremely dramatic. The characters often took us into unexpected places and I hope that readers can see this book as a very tender love story, even though it has some fetish elements, and touches upon issues of physical and mental disability. As a reader, I hate being spoonfed or, even worse, preached at, so I hope any message we put across in Special Needs is a gentle one, running under the skin of the story, instead of screaming at the reader. At the end of the day, what I want most is for the story to provide the reader with entertainment and a thrill :) .

So as a tiny teaser, a few quotes from the work in progress:

“Being in a wheelchair at a gay porn convention was a fantastic experience. He got to have his gaze at exactly the level he needed.”

“Once in a while, Ryan even spotted actors he knew, so he tried to think of things he could say to them and not sound like a creep. ‘Hey, I thought your cock looked really hot in that last porno’ just didn’t cut it. “

“Ryan wrapped his arms around Liam’s chest as if he were a giant plushie. It made Liam hope Ryan was into sex with plushies, ‘cause he could damn well use a hand when they got home.”

And one from a scene that didn’t end up in the book ;)

“You know what we should have in the backyard, by the beach? Half pipes and, you know, stuff, like a roller skating park.” Ryan’s gaze followed his every move, looking awake as ever, with bright eyes and a straight back.

Liam shook his head with a smile. “As long as we can afford the insurance in case someone gets hurt.”

“I would get a helmet and stuff. It would be amazing, Liam.” Ryan rolled back down the ramp again and turned behind him.

“I don’t think that helps if someone breaks their neck.”

“Insurance is for pussies.” Ryan snorted and Liam felt Ryan’s hand petting his nape from behind.

“Straight cock is for pussies. Insurance’s for everyone.” Liam shook his head.

The second volume of ‘Blood. On the Rocks.’ is out!

The second volume of our vampire-themed serial novel contains further eleven chapters of the book, as well as all the posts from Dylan’s blog released so far.  This part focuses on the blooming relationship between Tekke and Sergey, which turns out to be an eyesore for many people they know, including Tekke’s sister and Sergey’s ex-lover, who still plays a major role in his life. But deep in the north, something much more dangerous is waiting to disrupt the small-town routine of New Petersburg.

— The other man. —

With Sergey now established as Tekkeitsertok’s sort-of-boyfriend, the vampire goes back to Texas to sort out everything and everyone he left behind. His companion of over fifty years, John, is not happy about the news of a ‘Sun God’ and ‘Divine Man of the North’ taking up so much of Sergey’s attention. John isn’t willing to move and leave behind the heat and comfort of Texas, where he lives with a harem of beautiful boys. But Sergey doesn’t give up easily, and he might have found the perfect bait for his twink-loving friend.

Dating a vampire though isn’t as glamorous as soap operas suggest, and soon, Tekke finds himself the target of prejudice of his sister, the church and half the town. Whatever the cost might be, he’s determined not to go back into the closet. If dealing with bigots wasn’t bad enough, for his new relationship to work, he needs to show that he’s a better choice than John, Sergey’s rich, handsome, confident ex-lover who is just as charismatic as Tekke is self-conscious.

And in the midst of all the relationship troubles, something darker and more sinister than even John is blooming on Tekke’s doorstep. The local ravens are growing antlers and disfigured animal corpses are being found around New Petersburg. Danger a lot more real than a few vampohobes, might be lurking just around the corner.

In the silence of the night, the constant buzzing of the bees in the Hive on the hill was a reminder of why he was here. Eating the Dal honey wasn’t beneath Crunch, but he would much prefer not knowing how it was produced.

As if reading his thoughts, Victor yawned and leaned in to whisper, “What is that sound?”

“Beehives. Sort of.” Crunch scowled. “But if everything goes well, you won’t have to see them. If asked, don’t volunteer for it.”

Victor sighed. “Who would? No one wants to be stung.”

Crunch nodded vigorously. “Remember that.”

***

Victor looked to the grass beneath his feet and cringed when they came closer to the dome. The buzzing awoke a tremor on his skin.

“I know. Couldn’t make it. Sharpe had ‘is eye on me.” Crunch sighed as they were making their way back to the orchards, descending down the hill. Victor wanted to touch him, but noticed a group of figures in black just in time to let go of this silly idea.

Led by a guard were people who looked like mourners, in trousers gathered at the ankle and thick gloves. They all wore hats with wide brims, covered with a thick, black veil tucked into their collars, creating a bubble of air around their heads. Their appearance was so shocking, Victor needed a moment to realize they were most probably working with the bees.

One story’s villain is another story’s hero.

First of all, I’m proud to present the cover of our pony-play novel, coming out with Storm Moon Press -The Copper Horse: Fear

Available for pre-order on the SMP website! :)

I love this cover with all my heart. Copper’s eyes are so beautiful :) Done by the wonderful Alex Zappa

Blurb for the story:

London

1907, twenty years into the zombie Plague

Reuben is a baker living in the slums of London, sharing a room with his father and an extended family of cockroaches. Poor, uneducated, and repressing all his sexual desires, he leads a life of misery, only sometimes sprinkled with gin and a rough tumble in a filthy back alley.

But when he is abducted into Bylondon to be the slave of a wealthy crime family member named Erik Dal, his values are put to the test. His new master is obsessed with all things equestrian, and Reuben soon learns that if he obeys and performs well as Erik’s horse, he might just get everything he yearns for: pampering, foods he never even dreamed of, and shameless sex with a demonically handsome young man in leather riding boots.

As Copper, Erik’s treasured dun stallion, Reuben must submit to his new master’s obscene fancy of possessing another man completely. That is, if he yearns for treats and not the lick of a riding crop. Fake tails, harnesses, and a new haircut to his ginger mane help Reuben transform into Copper, but the fear of losing his dignity in the eyes of society might just prove to be a bigger restraint than any bit, bridle, or handcuffs.

All that for the small price of his freedom. Though at times, Reuben feels it’s his soul that Erik is after instead.

And a closeup on Copper’s beautiful face, just because I can!

Everything works on this cover :) The lovely harness, Erik’s blue fingers, stained with ink, the wallpaper skulls representing the zombie aspect, and then the pony shadow

This book is yet another installment in the “Zombie Gentlemen” universe and just like “Stung” and “Off with Their Heads!” it’s set in 1907. All these stories are standalones that tie in with each other slightly. “Stung” is set in Honeyhill, a forced labour camp ran by the Dal family, whereas in “The Copper Horse“, Erik Dal is one of the heroes (if you can call a man as morally grey as him a ‘hero’ ;D). And then in “Off with Their Heads!“, one of the MC’s is an anarchist, fighting against the social changes the MC in “Stung” wants to bring. I love telling a story from many different sides. I believe it creates a world more diverse and shows that right and wrong can be subjective. One story’s villain is another story’s hero.

In a way, I know “Zombie Gentlemen” can be considered obscure. Steampunk, though very low-tech (so close to a historical novel), zombies, and homoerotic on top of that. I always try to put across that these stories are not *about* zombies. Zombies, a dystopian world, are a background to what is truly interesting to us – fully fleshed out characters with goals and emotions. No amount of maggots and zombie bees make a story, it’s the characters that step forward with their passions and mold the plot to their liking. So all I can hope for is that readers not used to a bit of horror in their romance, can look past it and let themselves in on the bumpy, thrilling rides in “Zombie Gentlemen”.

And “Stung” is surely a thrilling ride! It’s romantic and hot in its own way without losing the thriller aspect. We struggled deciding if we wanted to call it a ‘thriller’ or ‘romantic suspense’. ‘Thriller’ won in the end because I believe ‘romantic suspense’ is more about a mystery, while “Stung” is more about completing a mission and trying to survive all the bumps on the road. It’s sometimes hard for us to slap a genre on out books, as we tend to mix various themes. Even our ‘dark’ stories always have a bit of humour in them, etc.
