This shot does come, eventually, after the typewriter date-slug, a montage of news footage of Nixon, a few simple black on white credits, and the beginnings of the break-in from inside and outside the Watergate.
The message and reasoning is pretty clear (Even the vintage Warner Brothers logo is shown in black and white instead of its customary black and red…).
I started reading Gravity's Rainbow because I saw you suggest it a time or two but I have to ask, am I an idiot for not understanding what's happening in the book? Because I feel like one.
No; you’d be an idiot if you didn’t get… Like, HORTON HEARS A WHO. There’s an excellent GRAVITY’S RAINBOW COMPANION by Steven Weisenberger. Zak Smith’s illustrated edition is enlightening too. And there’s a great pynchonania website at pynchonwiki and… Shit there’s another great online resource but I can’t remember the URL. Even then I do t think there’s a “get” to GR necessarily. It’s a postmodern novel and has different concerns.
