as part of my plan to do better in school i promised myself that every time i got 85% or higher on a test in Math i would make pharrell’s hat just a little bit larger on his Wikipedia page. they reverted the changes on the third panel so maybe they are on to me but i just got 91% on a test so i’m confident they won’t notice the fourth panel for a while

update: nvm i think they noticed pretty quickly actually

What did you major in at college? What major do you recommend for people who want to be comic book writers? (Sorry if you've answered this before)

I started on a fine arts track and migrated into film and then multimedia/new media/animation-y stuff. i think (see above) if you want to be a comic book writer you should start by reading everything you can and by building an idiom and a craft. get a cheap notebook and hit a library and google around and start chipping away, little by little, at learning YOUR way.

What do you recommend to somebody who wants to write comics? Where do I start when writing a script? What can I do to learn and improve writing comics?

read comics and write comics, is the short version. and there’s a panoply of riches online to get you started and a sagging shelf worth of books on the matter out in the world. almost all of them have SOMEthing to offer. it’s a hardware store: you don’t need every tool and every thingamabob for sale in Home Depot to build a house, but that doesn’t mean Home Depot is entirely useless. Browse.

i think when starting out the thing anybody needs to focus on is the building of an idiom, of a craft,...
