May The 4th Be with Us, Please

Pandemic management is a lot like parenting. The parents, in this case, are the governors and the mayors: they own the authority and call the shots. They’re actually more like the godparents who said that they would happily take custody of the kids if anything tragic ever…READ MORE

Coronavirus and Community

This morning I was out walking my dogs around my usual loop, a little more than a mile-long route through my neighborhood, three of the four long blocks residential and one a neighborhood walk street with a few restaurants, a pharmacy, and a handful of storefronts. I walk the…READ MORE

The Weekend Warrior Edition

Coronavirus Through the Ages

butt.png

Coronavirus concerns by age today. When it comes to COVID-19, we all know kids don’t tend to get as sick as adults, especially older adults. But they do face significant issues secondary to the pandemic…

Among younger kids, home-based injuries and poisonings are up. When it comes to kids under age five, Poison Control has fielded 20% more calls in quarter 1 of 2020 compared with the year before, largely driven by calls about cleaners and disinfectants. The…READ MORE

Some thoughts this time around, and then the links.

I have been asked many times each day for tips on parenting through COVID, mostly meaning tips on parenting in a time of social distancing. (Questions about parenting when there’s someone in the house sick with coronavirus is a different story altogether… I can get to that in another newsletter if you are interested.) People seem to want help with some basic logistics, and so I am passing along here a few pieces of information that really seem to resonate.
