BOOK REVIEW Enthralling The Guardian Jen Colly

Jen Colly continues her smoldering The Cities Below series with The Guardian.
“The Forbidden,” Gideon hissed, the answer logical as their location had been consistently in motion, until now.
The Forbidden is just the beginning of the mysteries in The Guardian. The chemistry between the main characters is amazing, immediate, and captivating. It is more than a vampire’s glamour that drives their attraction to each other.
Colly draws the readers into the vampire cities with excellent descriptions. You can almost feel and see the figurative and literal darkness. Vampire traditions are on full display as are how they interact with humans. But Sevard’s past that interferes with everything and if you have not read books one through four, I highly recommend you do so. That being said Colly has written them so they can be read independently.
The revealing and evolution of the characters is unpredictable. While quite the anti-hero you cannot help but root for the pair. Colly’s writing style keeps the pages turning and I was happy to become lost in the story only a few pages in. There is intrigue galore with dozens of questions that are not answered right away and leave readers guessing. Some of those answers are complete surprises.
Colly’s worldbuilding is wonderful and so believable. She goes beyond the stereotypical vampire tropes and leaves you saying hey that is new or I never expected that. It was truly, truly enjoyable book and recommend reading the whole series and looking forward to the next one. Well done.

Oct 21 Ghost Witch by Ian Conner
