I’m over the moon to share the fabulously eye-catching cover for my second chance rom com THE PLOT TWIST coming in June!

How gorgeous is it?! You can pre-order your copy now HERE!

The blurb:
One new boss, one ex-boyfriend, one big dilemma…
Stevie Phillips has just landed her dream job working for a publishing company and it seems like this is page one of her new, improved life.
But her first day throws more curveballs than she thinks she can handle: there’s been a takeover and the whole publicity team has been fired. And her new boss is the last face she expected to see.
Because Noah Anderson also happens to be her ex-boyfriend.
Thrown together on a campaign for a book the rest of the staff don’t want to touch with a barge-pole, Stevie resolves to make the best of a bad situation. This is her chance to prove herself, and she’s not going to let the man who broke her heart ruin it for her.
When Noah starts hinting that there was more to their break up then him just not loving her, Stevie’s resolution starts to wobble. Getting back with your ex is never a good idea, is it? Especially not when your ex is also your boss…

No man can be as good as the one in your imagination…
Librarian Liv Jones has always dreamed of writing a romance novel. But she’s stuck when it comes to creating a romantic hero – sadly – lacking anyone in real life to base him on.
When her brother suggests his best friend stay in their shared flat for a few weeks, she can’t believe her bad luck. Aiden Rivers is irritating and pushes all her buttons. Worst of all, he’s gorgeous, has a sexy accent and reminds her of her all-time favourite character Mr Darcy.
Liv finds herself unexpectedly inspired and the leading man in her novel begins to bear an uncanny resemblance to Aiden. He can never find out though: she’d never live it down. Because Aiden can only ever be her love interest in the pages of her book – and definitely not in real life… right?!
A sexy enemies-to-lovers rom com, perfect for those who spend far too much time thinking about Mr Darcy coming out of the lake!

Mr Darcy – our most enduring love interest
When I started writing The Love Interest, I knew my main character Liv Jones was a hopeless romantic – a librarian who dreamed of writing her own romance novel but was stuck on how to come up with the love interest in the story. And I instantly knew who her favourite male character would be, because he has always been mine, and that is Mr Darcy!

I read Pride and Prejudice after loving the BBC 1995 adaptation of the book and afterwards, I was hooked. That book is still my favourite novel and Mr Darcy my favourite love interest. Which is why I added lot of mentions of the novel and that adaptation into my book, and I’m not the only one who can’t resist a homage to the character.
Here are my five of my favourite homages to our most enduring love interest…
The 1995 BBC series Pride and Prejudice – the best adaptation of the book, don’t fight me! It’s faithful to the story, has a great cast and locations and the attention to detail is sublime. But let’s face it, my favourite part is when Colin Firth as Mr Darcy jumps into the lake at his sprawling Pemberley estate in a white shirt and emerges soaking wet. SWOON. If you also love this scene then look out for all the mentions of it in my book and the final chapter…
Bridget Jones’s Diary – the book by Helen Fielding is a modern adaptation of Pride and Prejudice but in a genius move, the film makers took that link one step further for the film adaptation – they cast Colin Firth the BBC series as the love interest – Mark DARCY. The book and the film also show the 1995 series as Bridget is obsessed with the lake scene too. It’s all delightfully meta!
Austenland – I needed a film in my book that my characters would have seen ten years ago and I was some excited when I realised Austenland was released in 2013. Adapted from a novel, It’s about an Austen-themed retreat and of course, the lead in the movie is obsessed with Pride and Prejudice. And once there, she instantly hates Mr Henry Nobley – modelled naturally on Mr Darcy! It’s thoroughly tongue-in-cheek.
Bridgerton – series two of the beloved Netflix series follows my favourite trope and the one used in Pride and Prejudice and my book – enemies-to-lovers! The two leads take an instant dislike to one another and in a fabulous homage that made me scream with delight – Antony Bridgeton falls into a lake and is wearing, of course, a white shit that is rendered completely see-through. LOVED IT.
Barbie – In the movie when, Barbie starts to feel depressed, they cut to a fake ad for Depression Barbie showing her watching the 1995 Pride and Prejudice. A nod to the fact the series is essential comfort viewing all these years on! I gasped in the cinema when I saw the brief clip of Colin Firth as Mr Darcy. By then, my book was written and ready to go and it cemented my belief that Mr Darcy endures to this day.
Mr Darcy will always be mine, and so many other people’s, favourite love interest. So, thank you, Jane Austen! And if you’re also a fan, I hope you’ll enjoy my own homage to him…
