Last week, I was honoured to attend the Romantic Novelist’s Association awards where my novel Coming Home to Glendale Hall was on the shortlist for contemporary romance novel of the year!

Here I am with the other authors in my category:

I had a lovely night celebrating books! I didn’t win in my category but it was so exciting to be amongst such talented authors and to have my book shortlisted.

It was also a treat to stay over in London and meet authors whose books I love!

Emily Prescott’s life isn’t going to plan. Her dreams of starting a family with fireman boyfriend Greg and opening up her own bakery in London feel like they will never come true. So when a wedding

invite arrives from her oldest friend, Beth Williams, Emily is thrilled. Not only will she get to return to her childhood home in Scotland, but best of all – Beth wants her to bake the wedding cake!

However, her excitement is cut short when she discovers that Greg has cheated on her. Devastated by his betrayal, Emily flees to Glendale Hall, Beth’s grand estate in the Highlands, and tries to distracts herself with helping with the wedding plans, but that’s not easy when Greg keeps hounding her to forgive him. Then she’s introduced to Glendale’s new young and handsome vicar Brodie, and things become even more complicated.

When Emily discovers that Greg’s betrayal runs deeper than she imagined, she finds herself with a whole host of decisions to make, especially when she discovers her long awaited dream is finally being fulfilled – at exactly at the wrong time…

Beth Williams hasn’t been home for ten years. When she fell pregnant at just sixteen, knowing that her family would never approve, she ran away from the imposing Scottish estate that had been her home, building a new life for herself and her daughter hundreds of miles away.

But when her father begs her to return home to see her gravely ill grandmother, Beth is apprehensive at the thought of seeing her family again. With her daughter Isabelle, now a feisty ten-year-old, in tow, she plans to cut her visit as short as she can whilst fulfilling her duty.

Beth has worked hard to leave her past behind her, living in London with Isabelle and working hard to be the best single mother she can be. Returning to the Glendale Hall estate means facing her strict and unaffectionate mother, formidable grandmother, as well her teenage boyfriend, Drew, who broke her heart and doesn’t know that he has a daughter.

But Beth is about to discover that everyone has their own version of the past, and the true story she thought she knew for the last ten years might well be a very different one to the truth. Will Beth be able to find it in her heart to forgive her mother and grandmother (and herself) for what happened ten years ago? Or will she end up running away all over again?

Your home isn’t a place, it’s the people you share it with

2019 books: October and November

So I forgot to post the books I read in October so here they are along with the ones I read in November too!

I read seven books in total – all novels, and a real mix of genres which I always like. There were really fab books in this pile so it was hard to pick my favourites but I’ve gone with these two:

The Vanished Bride reimagines the Brontes as detectives, and is wonderful literary mystery with a lots of nods to the Brontes and lots of twists to the story too.

A Curse So Dark and Lonely is a YA Beauty and the Beast retelling, which I love – full of action, romance, and magic, I can’t wait for book two!

What have you enjoyed reading lately?
