Edmund Roebert was born in 1939 and began his ministry in the early sixties, in what was then known as the Hatfield Baptist Church (now Hatfield Christian Church).

He grew up in East London where he attended Selbourne College, and gave his life wholeheartedly to the purposes of God from the age of 18 years when he was born again.

Pastor Ed studied at the Baptist Theological College and also completed his Theology Degree at UNISA.

In 1963 Ed Roebert became the senior pastor of the Hatfield Baptist Church in South Street. Over the next 20 years the church grew from strength to strength and in 1984 moved out of the Baptist denomination and became the Hatfield Christian Church - an independent charismatic church.
