Taylor Bridge Fire, Living in the Black-day 14

Two weeks have passed. Today we are going to go through the ashes of Ed and Maggie’s burned trailer and outbuildings.

Folks started arriving pretty early that morning for the sifting party that had been organized. We were to go through all the ashes of the trailer and outbuildings to find what could be found. We had an excellent turnout of volunteers willing to spend their Sunday getting dirty up pat their eyeballs.

Tools, iron pots and pans, dog dishes, coin collections, these are just some of the things recovered by all those wonderful people. Maggie’s grandmothers wedding band was found by Joe Loveless, always the hero! I think this might have meant the most to Maggie, and I am wonderously happy that it was found. Thanks so much everyone for ALL of your hard work and pleasant energy. We were unable to get everyones name, and some of you we didn’t know, so please let us know who you are that come so that we can give you an individual thanks, and a hug and kiss for all that you did for us. Thanks sooooo much!

Ed’s sister brought food, water and beer were provided, and it was a super group of people that came by and helped. Thanks again to all of you. Thanks so much!

During all this, Laura’s mom came to pick up Tonka and Gibbs. She just got home from rehab after a long stay at the hospital. She was very anxious to get her two boys back. They had gone through a lot with us, and we’ll miss them both, but I am super happy that Mom is home!

Taylor Bride Fire, Living in the Black-day 13

Its Saturday, and we decided to take a bit of a break so I could rest my back. We did chores and Shirley’s, our place, hauled our water, and took it a bit easy. I laid down to give my back a break before the sifting party the following day. It might have been restful, other than the people still stopping by. Ed and Maggie had gone into Yakima, so I just started taking their names. There was no way I could remember everyone!
