Murder, mayhem, intrigue + Love

By Ruth Ann Hixson 5-Stars
Format:Kindle Edition
Michael Bennis' novel, Dangerous and Desirable, is an exciting, nail-biting thriller where the danger comes from all angles. Julio Navarro, aka Julian Rivera, a former boxer, is a hired assassin who works for England, USA and Isreal. He falls in love with Ziv Yadin who is Mossad's top operative. However, he still has feelings for his former lover. The story plays out on an internatuinal stage: from New York to Madrid to Mexico. It begins a little slow but once it gets going it is like a juggernaut--a powerful vehicle on a twisting, turning downhill road with murder and mayhem in its wake; secrets and intrigue. Some of the scenes are heart wrenching and gut wrenching. Bennis brings the story along like you're actually there. It's a real page-turner and will keep you up way past your bedtime.
Excerpt: "What can I do, Ziv?"
"You can take me with you!"
He gently took her by the arm and led her inside. "Have you said good-bye to Eli?"
"Yes, he's on his way to Tel Aviv. He begged me to forget him and never to call."
"Ziv, I can only imagine how horribly this must hurt."
"You're incapable of imagining what I feel."...
"What are you seeing, Ziv?"
She trembled. "I'm seeing a beautiful young woman shoot herself in the head. Then I'm seeing splattered brain."
"Are you there now?"
Her voice was hollow. "A part of me is always there. I feel so cold and so alone."

A thriller with Tequila Slammer danger.

By angela mortimer 5-Stars to Dangerous and Desirable

At first the book feels a lot like the author's book Rules of Engagement, a complicated romance, full of interesting fractured personalities, that is, until we reach the Mexican connection and from there it changes from a romance to a thriller, it's as exciting as The Bridge on coke with a touch of the original NCIS.
A very exciting well-written read with women who would scare anyone but the books main character; a complicated man, a combination of great kindness or great ruthlessness. Frankly it's hard to turn the kindle off and I only did so once because I had to.
A wild ride from beginning to end and unlike Rules of Engagement, which is a Dry Martini in a sunlit garden, the pool shimmering and reflecting sunlight, this one is still full of sun, but the drier, harsher sun of a baking desert where you sip your astringent lemon Margarita at your peril.

This is absolutely the best of all of Michael Bennis’s books. I could not put it down–read it start to finish in one day. It is obvious that this love story about two dangerous assassins from different parts of the world is well researched. The descriptions are wonderful, and the story is exciting and fun to read.

bookshelves: suspense  Recommended for: Action, suspense and romance buffs

Oh, those women! Independent, unwavering, cold-deadly, unremorseful and drop-dead gorgeous. Then there’s Julio Navarro, the world’s most dangerous assassin, so perilously predictable that to know his true identity is tantamount to ceasing all life’s functions. In addition to Julio’s secret identity, there is the little known fact that he exited a Buenos Aires orphanage when he was eight-years old to live on the streets with a cur dog… or that he was once the third world-ranked middleweight boxing contender. Julio is now a successful businessman with untold wealth derived from settling international problems in steel-cold blood. Yet, Julio has a tender side with heartbreaking weakness for the innocent, the disadvantaged and the downtrodden. Seriously, it would be scary to kick beach sand into the face of those women or in fact, any character in the novel Dangerous and Desirable.

Rules Of Engagement

By C. Michael Bennis   http://www.cmichaelbennis.com

Unrestrained passions and exotic locales are key elements of Rules of Engagement, a savvy debut by C. Michael Bennis. With a pitch perfect prose and unforgettably naughty characters, new romance author Bennis offers a winning combination that tells of the underbelly of the advertising world and the softest sides of true love. In the summer of 1964, two college graduates meet in a London club. While their attraction is palpable, Nicole is engaged to the premier’s son and is Parisian aristocracy; dutiful to a fault she can’t help but fall headfirst for Alec, a Colorado native who is a little rough around the edges. As they decide the course of their affair, Nicole comes up with the Rules of Engagement. Over the next nine days they agree not to fall in love and not to reveal their identities. Reunited by chance over two decades later, the magic is still there. One is married, one is not—both will begin to understand that love and passion endures despite time, circumstance, and reason.

DANGEROUS and DESIRABLE

By C. Michael Bennis  http://www.cmichaelbennis.com

Two dangerous assassins from different parts of the world seek a respite from danger in each other’s arms, only to discover their exposure to violence now grows exponentially. Ziv Yadin is Mossad’s foremost assassin who will one day return to Tel Aviv and marry her childhood sweetheart. Then she meets the Argentinian, Julio Navarro, who has the changing effect similar to an aphrodisiac. He stimulates her desires and overpowers her forewarnings of his impending danger. Already it is too late when she sees him kill her two dangerous assailants in two seconds. Julio Navarro’s dossier is so highly classified that to know his identity is tantamount to instant death. Nevertheless, Julio is so smitten with the beautiful Ziv, whose combat talents rival his own, that he quickly forgets there is no place for love in his dangerous life. Julio at once knew he should avoid the Israeli like the plague, but similar to Ziv it was too already too late to put out the flames in his heart. Ziv and Julio are unprepared when Julio’s former love, Claudia Bazan, resurfaces from six-years ago, and begs via messenger for Julio to save her from immanent death in Culiacan. Unable to refuse, Julio travels to save a woman he no longer loves, while Ziv soon follows to rescue the man she can no longer live without. Both Julio and Ziv are quickly in immediate danger… It is 2007, and Culiacán is the most dangerous place on the planet.

At once, Alison recognizes Rafael is that prophesied love and her feelings for the love-of-her-life come with foreboding apprehension.

The novel weaves together themes of predestination, palmistry, reincarnation, dream travel, and destiny. Narrated from the perspective of the main character, Rafael, this unique story grips the reader’s attention as he lives through difficult

relationships with Alison, his manipulative father, his deceased mother, other love connections, and close friendships.

The September 2012 issue of The Midwest Book Review (online Reviewer’s Bookwatch) features the novel Signs of Destiny, by C. Michael Bennis. “A brush with death allows you to see you are not the only star in your world. Following the aftermath of the brush with death Rafael faces awakening from a coma and seeing the world in a new way for the first time, including a new chance at love and everything else. Signs of Destiny is worth considering for general fiction, recommended. (Carl Logan, Reviewer)
