6 Sentence Sunday 13
This is a weekly meme hosted and originated by 6 Sentence Sunday.
Eternal Curse: Giovanni’s Angel -6 sentences from chapter 12.
The little town seemed quite desolate on that bright and sunny winter day. It was a nice day for staying in and looking out. It wasn’t freezing out but it was indeed cold. The sun was bright and high in the sky making for good visiting weather, which is what most the town’s people were doing that day.
Unexpectedly, from the far end of Main Street, one could see the shine of sunlight bouncing off the classic midnight blue paint of the old town car as it came coasting into town as though it were leading a parade. Little by little, town folk came out to see their long, almost forgotten, shy neighbors drive down the one and only main road of town.
To participate, pick six (6) sentences from anything you like (it can be from a Work in Progress (WiP), something you recently sold, something you hope to sell or even something already under contract and available for purchase – and don’t worry, Six Sentence Sunday is for published AND unpublished writers ). Then post them on your blog on Sunday. That’s all there is to it!
Posts are for bloggers only, but comments are open to all. Please post a link back to Six Sunday, the “anchor” site, to let people know where you heard about the idea. You are not required to list the week’s posters on your post…And don’t be afraid to share the love by adding the hashtag #sixsunday to your tweets about Six Sentence Sunday. Saturday’s R 4 Sharing 07
This is a weekly meme hosted by Eternal Curse Series. Throughout the week, guests and followers will have the opportunity to vote on the week’s topic. Each Saturday, I will post my thoughts on the subject matter and will include my top 5 whenever applicable. I greatly encourage guests and followers to comment and contribute to the subject of the day. [image error]
What do you want for Christmas or just because?
So this is the holiday season. Between Thanksgiving and News Years, it seems that money just flies out the window, but anyone who can, will participate happily. There are so many family bonding and gift giving exchanges happening this time of year, it still blows my mind that the economy is suffering in any way whatsoever, but that’s another topic for another time.
Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, Boxing Day, the Winter Solstice, and even Festivus “for the rest of us” has people from all walks of life getting into to some kind of holiday spirit. Aside from the protesting participants of Festivus, and maybe even some of them, most people during this time are planning on giving and receiving gifts of some kind. I, for one, enjoy giving people gifts that I know will really make the happy and smile, but of course, sometimes it just has to be the thought that counts.
I posed the question of what people wanted this year in terms of gifts: body and feet apparel, appliances/electronics, games/movies/music/books, and travel. What I found was that no one was very interested in appliances and electronics. The rest of my options, along with my vote, were pretty evenly spread apart with the entertainment items in a slight lead. This is just as I expected. Games/movies/music/books =entertainment and escape. In this day and age, it seems that people desire a sense of relief or escape more than anything else.
I would love to have any form of the entertainment listed above as a gift, but most of all, I just want to rest. I want to be able to not have to think about my job, or my bills, or even my writing (though I’ll probably still be writing at some point). What I want for Christmas, or just in general, is peace of mind and body. So whatever you believe and celebrate this season, be safe, be considerate, and give yourself a break…I’m sure you deserve it. Comments are welcomed. Be sure stop by this week and vote for next week’s topic.

Interview 06: Jimi Akanbi
Greetings humans, half-breeds, and everything in between. A while back, I had the pleasure to interview my new friend, Jimi Akanbi. He has been visiting the ECS as a guest and sharing loads of interesting insights into his work. Be sure to look around and see what he has to offer. Here are the results of our interview. A good time was truly had by all, and here’s how it went down.
Hi there Jimi! It’s so awesome to have you here at the ECS Universe. Don’t worry about the darkness, your eyes will adjust. So tell me who is Jimi Akanbi?
My name is Jimi Akanbi. I live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. I have an MBA in Finance. I am completely sold out to God. I am a member of the prayer and intercessory team at my church. One evening, I miraculously received my calling from God to be in the writing ministry; and ever since I have been inspired to write for God’s kingdom. My hobbies include writing, reading, counseling, sports, movies, music, and dancing. I am easily approachable and look out for other people’s best interest.
It’s very refreshing to meet someone with such a faith drive life have so many interests. I too like movies, music, dancing, and of course reading.
So whacha got for me today?
My book discusses eleven key steps to understanding the power and ways of God. I use various scenarios in the natural to shed light on the things of the Spiritual. The content in the book are not just mere words, they were written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. A discovery and application of these truths can transform the lives of its readers.Well, this book seems to have a very systematic approach to applying spiritual principles. I’m sure this is just the kind of book that someone out there has been looking for. It’s a niche and a powerful one, at that.
So who’s staring is this 2 dimensional script read of “Unleashing the Power of God”?
WikipediaMy main characters are God, Holy Spirit, Meshach, Shadrach and Abed-Nego. God is omnipotent, that is all powerful; and He has given us ability to tap into His power. The book discusses how the Holy Spirit can turn a man or woman from a failure to a success. Meshach, Shadrach and Abed-Nego were three Hebrew boys who exhibited unshakable faith in God despite the deadly consequence.I’m familiar with story of the three Hebrew boys. It’s nice to know that are elements of yoru book that will be easily recognizable to most of the Judeo Christian population. As for others, I hope they enjoy the retelling of this impactful story.
Past, present, future, is there a rhyme or reason to your writing?
As I earlier said, I did not just wake up one morning to start writing; I was miraculously called by God to write for His kingdom. It happened one evening, when I was listening to a celebrity pastor’s sermon on you tube, the moment the sermon ended, I started to receive downloads of revelations from heaven of which form the content of my book. I will be working on another book within the next four months; title is yet to be disclosed.
I guess God would be a great source of inspiration and motivation when writing a book. So many people are inspired and motivated by so many things, but I always seem to be drawn to people who are faith driven. I think my faith inspires a lot of my writing, but not all of it; I write so many different genres.
What author(s) has most influenced your writing? Why or how?
WikipediaPastor Joel Osteen has most influenced my writing because he writes in a very interesting, understandable, and to the point manner. Also, his books are very inspiring and motivational.Good choice. He has reached many people with his writing.
Whose brain are you just itching to scratch?
I would like to interview Pastor Creflo Dollar. This is because he has written many bestselling books, and myself as an author, I would like to know the secret to his success.
I don’t know if there’s much of a secret for someone like him. He already has a huge audience, but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t tell you something of value. I bet it would be a very interesting interview.
Who is so you and why?
WikipediaTyler Perryisn’t a fictional character, but I have been compared to him because he miraculously received his purpose almost in same manner as mine. He was watching Oprah’s show and heard her talk about writing, and suddenly God unleashed the desire and inspiration to write in his heart. His movie scripts always include a touch of God in them, and are free of profanity. Tyler Perry seems like someone that would be pretty cool to be compared to, but I wonder, do you know anyone like Medea?
I know someone almost exactly like Medea. I cannot mention her name because she might pull a Medea stunt on me. She is rough, tough, ruthless, and wild.
What’s your ideal reading spot for your next highly anticipated read?
AmazonI am currently in my room working on my laptop and reading Become a Better You by Joel Osteen. The book is in ebook format and I am excited to read it because I know it is life transforming and has received great reviews from readers. I see you have a preference for strictly motivational or spiritual literature. Well, if that’s what moves you, then why not. You must read the type of material you write in order to be any good at it.
What was your favorite book or story, pre teen years?
Adventures of Tom Sawyer was my favorite pre teen book.
Good choice. It’s a classic and has much to offer, but I must admit it took me a long to appreciate it. That probably had something to do with the fact that it was required reading in school.
Now this where the questions get a little kooky; are you ready?
Absolutely!
Alright then, here we go.
If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?
IMDBJumping the Broomproduced by Bishop TD Jakes. That’s a pretty funny movie, but also a little annoying. I love the message though. My mom won’t be happy to see me call it annoying because she loves that movie.
What makes you geek out?
I am a car lover. I love to study luxury and sport cars and their specifications.
Now that’s cool and first for this blog. I know a few people who are really into cars, but I know nothing about them myself. My husband is trying very hard to change that.
So what’s testing your patience right now?
I am looking forward to releasing a new book; I have drafted a little bit of content but have not come up with a title yet. I will do as the Spirit leads me. I am also excited about seeing my two and a half year old son. I have not seen him for a while due to personal reasons.
Well Jim, it sounds like you are a very focused individual. I’m glad that you get to see your son soon.
When the soundtrack of your life is playing in your head, what songs express your glee and what songs bring out your rage?
Songs I love are; Seattle by Mary Mary (<=listen), Elshaddai by Amy Grant (<=listen), Close to you by Bebe and Cece Winans(<=listen).Songs I do not like are hard core rap songs and any song with profanity.
Yeah it’s hard these days to find many songs without profanity, but it’s cool that some songs are released with edited versions. I always wonder though, if they produced the edited version, why then to do they need the explicit one.
What’s the most fun experience you’ve ever had, to date?
WikipediaThe most fun experience I have ever had was the very first time I traveled to England. I stayed in a presidential palace and went shopping all week long. The sightseeing, amusement parks, restaurants, and malls were splendid. I love to hear stories about travel. My husband traveled many places before we were married, but I’ve never really been anywhere except Las Vegas. Your trip sounds like it was a lot of fun.
Remind me again how I was lucky enough to meet you?
I found ECS/Toi through linkedin.
Oh yeah, that’s right. The Book Marketing Group is a great place to network.
Not that you can see into the future, but in your opinion, what does the future hold?
In the next five years I will be known as a celebrity author all across the world. My calling and hard work proves this to be true.
Ok humans, half-breeds, and everything in between, that’s all for today. Be sure to follow this blog to see who will be visiting next. For more from Jimi Akanbi, check out these great links:

Review 08: Game of Thrones
[image error]
Game of Thrones (Song of Fire and Ice#1) by George R.R. Martin
I give this book a 4.
This is the story of how and why wars start, but this story is a little different in that is takes place in a world where the seasons don’t make any sense. It doesn’t seem like the season should be that big of deal in a story, but a decade of winter is just wrong. So in summation, one family has the thrown and another wants it. There are secrets and cover ups, pride and duty. Then there are the families who don’t want a thrown, but get one anyway and so on.
There is one good thing about this special land where this royal war saga takes place, and that’s magic, but there isn’t a whole lot of it in this first book. There is the promise of much to come in the series and I’m sure fans of the television show can vouch for that. I think the best part of this story is that every now and then something you hope will happen, but don’t actually expect to, does. I love when characters that seem to unnecessarily dominate a story die and when an undeserving underdog begins to rise up, just because it makes the story interesting.
In general, I liked all the Stark characters, including the Bastard, except for the oldest daughter. From the beginning, my favorite character was Daene; I was so ready to “Wake the Dragon.” I liked the dwarf, but then it’s hard not to. It didn’t take long for me to accept things for the way they were in this fantasy world, but I guess I in a world of fantasy, grown men would take little girls to bed with them (how pathetic). Even with all the many tiny issues that bothered me about this book, it was a good story…and you can’t go wrong when you add zombies to Camelot; that’s just good stuff.
This is not a book for the whole family to enjoy, but dad will probably like it.

Guest Post 03: Jimi Akanbi
I enjoy meeting new people and experiencing new things good and bad. I feel that experiences are what life is all about. I’m a firm advocate of the idea that it’s better to believe in something than in nothing, but in this day and age even that can be argued by those who so choose. Today my guest, Jimi Akanbi, will be sharing his book and the experience of unleashing God’s power.
First of all, let me say that all who have read this book have had great things to say about it, namely; I like it a lot, very inspirational, I learned a lot from it, it is an anointed book, I was really impressed by your book, it makes a whole lot of sense, it is truthful and powerful, it blessed my life, and more.
I have written a powerful book that will inspire all Christians to be full of the power of God. The content of the book are just not mere words, they were written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The book discusses eleven key steps to understanding the power of God, including; how to understand and strengthen your faith in God, understanding the roles the Holy Spirit plays in your life, continually refilling God’s power in you, distinguishes between faith and confidence, praying with authority, intake of anointed information forms the foundation for spoken words, reasons to renew your mind, how to constantly hear from God, understanding God’s power, how to interact with the Holy Spirit, and benefits of continuous praise.
Unleashing God’s power includes life transforming revelations from above that are not found in any other book. I give you an understanding of how things and living beings in the physical are connected or tied to things and beings in the Spiritual. Deep truths are revealed that will help you increase your faith and prosper in your Christian life. The book is written for both baby and mature Christians, remember whether you are full of faith and power of God or just struggling in these areas, there is always room for growth. Note, there is no maximum cap to the measure of faith and power that any man or woman can have in God.
I have highlighted some of God’s general armies (great bible characters) and discuss how they prospered because they were full of faith and God’s power. Reasons a lot of Christians do not operate in high power of God are discussed, and how these can be alleviated. I discuss how God wants us to prosper in life, otherwise, He would not have given us His word, which says; “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth; that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”
I have heard some of the people who read the book; Unleashing God’s Power: Maximize This Great Benefit of Christianity in Your Life, say that “I read your book and could not put it away until I read the entire book,” “I read about half the book, went to take care of my business, and was so captivated that I had to come back to read the rest of it.”
You can sample the book on amazon.com or smashwords.com and then pick up a copy. I can guarantee that the application of your discovery will transform and prosper your life.

1. What are you currently reading?Progress has been made. I’m still reading The Perfects by Wendy Reaks, Childhood’s End by Author C. Clarke, and have just started Down the Line by David More and Coke With a Twist by A.W.Hartoin (two short reads).
2. What did you recently finish reading? Embrace (Gryphon Series) by Stacey Rourke and Batmas: Earth One . As graphic novels go, I read it in one day.
3. What do you think you’ll read next? I’ve stared my Kindle Serial by Robert Kroese called Disenchanted and it’s not what I expected. Next I plan to finally pick up my new copy of Seraphina , though I don’t know when that will be, since I’m busy with many beta reads.
