Blurb
Amaia was one of the most sought after courtesans in King James’s London when she became a vampire. Together with her sire, Lawrence, she works to birth a new, more powerful race of vampires. She has everything she could want: wealth, prestige, and eternal life.
She fears nothing. That is, until Michael, the first man she killed, walks into a tavern twenty-three years after she killed him. He has more reason than most to hate her; he’s the man who gave her the engagement ring she still wears. She’s convinced he’s come back from the grave for one purpose: to destroy her.
Michael’s gray eyes haunt Amaia until she surrenders and goes to him. If her clan finds out about her obsession, they’ll kill her and him. But if she stays away, she’ll go mad. Both paths lead to destruction, and it’s up to Amaia to find a way to keep herself and Michael alive, whether Michael still loves her or not.

Chapter One
London, February 1623
The skin offered little resistance to her teeth. A bit of pressure and the blood started to flow. Tangy, sweet warmth filled her mouth and coursed down her throat all the way to her stomach, comforting, soothing the fire in her veins. This was heaven. She was dead, and this her reward.
Her racing mind calmed as she drank. Thoughts organized themselves. Killing should be harder. Less pleasurable. Every second she drank this man’s blood drained away his life. There was no question of stopping. She craved every drop. The boning of her stays pinched as she drank faster.
The flow of blood thinned. The vein was running dry. The breathing beneath her slowed. A few more swallows and the life she held in her hands would be no more. A few more gulps and maybe her lust would be sated.
His body hit the ground with a hollow thump.
“Did you get your fill, my girl?”
The blood made its way through her body, lulling her into contented drowsiness. Obscuring fog consumed her mind. She knew the man talking to her, but his name was just out of reach.
“Yes. Thank you.”
“Of course. Anything for you.” His blue eyes scanned her face as if he expected to find something. She didn’t know what.
The body at her feet laid askew before the crackling fire, limbs sprawled in unnatural positions. Gray eyes stared blankly ahead. The only life in them came from the reflected firelight dancing in their glassy depths. She felt a chill and looked away. “I think I want to sleep now. Just for a little while.”
The blue-eyed man nodded, beaming. “Yes, my child. You must sleep.” In one swift movement, he lifted her into his arms. As he carried her out of the room, she couldn’t help staring over his shoulder at those eyes. Those gray, lifeless eyes that, only minutes before, had gazed at her with the strangest expression.
•••
Images flashed before her dreaming eyes. At first, the visions came too quickly to decipher, but as the dream continued, pieces began to make sense. Lawrence, with his bald head, neatly trimmed gray goatee, and pockmarked cheeks, floated before her. He had been the one who had so gently tucked her into bed. She was safe with him.
“I will give you eternal life,” his gravelly voice had assured her. He’d been the one to change her. “I’m a vampire.” The words sounded foreign on Lawrence’s familiar lips. Fragments of their conversation floated back to her. He would give her everything.
But someone else had promised her everything.
She’d felt a prick on her wrist, and then peace had settled over her as Lawrence sucked away her life. It had been so easy to give in to sleep, lounging on her couch, only to be awakened by bitterness sliding down her throat. Lawrence had held his wrist to her lips, squeezing blood from it.
“I know it’s unpleasant, my dear. It’s the venom. It will give you life.” His low whisper urged her on. She continued to drink, feeling the venom ignite her veins with uncontrollable energy. Her mind raced as she scoured the room for something to eat. She didn’t feel particularly hungry, but all the energy coursing through her was directed toward one thing: feeding. Her eyes darted to the fireplace, the mantle, the silver candlesticks, the gold and amber music box, the worn carpet hiding a warped wooden floor. She couldn’t focus. She either needed to eat or run to a place where she could.
A knock on the door reverberated through her head, piercing her buzz of energy.
“Let me see who that is.” Lawrence left the room. When he returned, leading another man inside, there was a split-second echo of feeling in her chest. This person was familiar. He meant something to her. Soft brown locks framed gray eyes set in an angular face. At the moment though, all he meant was food. Every instinct in her body drove her to pierce through that sun-kissed skin for the blood beneath. She didn’t know how, only that she must.
His soft gray eyes lit up as soon as they rested on her. The tenderness in them echoed the feeling in her chest. “Joc—”
She didn’t hear him finish, or even know if he was able to. She was at his throat.
•••
How long she slept was a mystery. Both faces swam before her. One was old and comforting, the other young and exciting. There was something about the man she’d killed. While Lawrence was a steady presence in her life, this other man felt familiar in a different way, as if he’d been present for much less time. Something about him made her uneasy. He was dangerous. He would take her away, away from Lawrence, from her home.
“Marry me,” he had said to her once. He wanted to possess her, but she couldn’t be had. She was a whore. Lawrence’s whore. Girls like her didn’t marry. Girls like her only got thrown away.
Lawrence had taken her in, given her a profession, given her the means to take care of herself, and now this man wanted to take it all away.
“Don’t be foolish…he’ll leave you eventually…you’re not the marrying type, my dear…it’s not love you feel…I’m a vampire…let me turn you…you’ll have eternal life…he can join us…if he loves you, he won’t begrudge you this…”
Then there was the other man’s face. Michael. Her mind supplied his name, and she remembered it with fondness. He had been in her life for months. His face floated before her, eyes affectionate.
Affection. That was the strange look that had filled his eyes moments before she had killed him. Slowly, the eyes morphed into the dead glass she remembered from the floor of her parlor.
“Shh, everything will be fine.” Lawrence’s voice broke through her dream, as if he spoke directly to her mind. “You’re all right, Amaia. You can hear me now. That means it’s almost time to wake up. Sleep for just a little longer. Enjoy it. This is the last time you’ll ever sleep. I’ll explain everything when you wake.”
The voice gave her something to hold to. In the hazy sea of her dreams, she tossed, confused. When Lawrence’s voice commanded her, she was safe and secure. Her confusion subsided. He would explain everything when she woke. For now, she only needed to sleep.

Announcing My Next M/M Novel
I am excited today to introduce you to Will and Malcolm, the protagonists in my upcoming m/m love story titled In Distress. Here’s the blurb, which is a work in progress:
After the Great Destruction destroyed the world, science is the new god. Geneticists rule, instituting a caste system based on DNA in their effort to restore the human genome.
As a Zed, Will’s a virtual slave who isn’t allowed medical care. A tragic accident has left him crippled, awaiting death. His world is upturned when an enigmatic Alpha with two different colored eyes sweeps in and buys him just before his time is up. He becomes part of a family of freaks—other damaged Zeds who should be dead. Life seems ideal until his Alpha makes a request of him that could change Will’s life.
Malcolm’s harboring more secrets than his Zeds could imagine, and one that could prove deadly. His attraction to Will unravels his carefully cultivated control and one secret escapes: he craves pain, not just as a sexual release, but as a way to atone for his past. Will may be the only person who can give him what he needs, if only Malcolm can allow him into his heart.
As they struggle to build trust, each secret Malcolm reveals threatens their relationship. In the end, their desire for each other may heal both men of their scars, but only if they can unlearn the lessons of the past.
I’ve become obsessed with Will and Malcolm. It takes all my willpower to work on anything other than their story. I hope you’ll love them as much as I do when you finally get to meet them. When will that be, you ask? Right now I’m looking at August 7th as the release date, but that is not set in stone. Once I get through the release of Haunting Echoes (which is coming out June 5th!) and finish up a manuscript that’s due to my editor, I’ll have a much better idea of what the timeframe is going to be. It’s currently in the editing stages and the feedback has been great.
In the coming months as work progresses, I’ll keep you updated here on my blog and through social media. If you aren’t already signed up for my newsletter, be sure to do that now so you’ll get an email when important announcements are made such as the first chapter being posted, the cover being revealed, and the release date.

Haunting Echoes Release Date and Excerpt
Haunting Echoes is releasing one week from today on June 5th! This has, by far, been the most difficult book to write, mainly because it spans a large chunk of time from 1623 to 1843. Haunting Echoes is my first m/f love story, and the support and encouragement I’ve gotten from my readers has been amazing. It’s always nerve-racking when I release a new book, but this one even more so because it’s the first book I’ve published without Jason and Kale. I hope you’ll be willing to give it a try even though it is quite a bit different from the Measure of Devotion trilogy.
If everything goes as planned, Haunting Echoes should be available at Amazon, Apple, All Romance, Barnes and Noble, and Kobo on launch day. The paperback will follow within the first few weeks.

Measure of Peace Teaser Chapter
The first chapter of Measure of Peace is posted! I’d love to write more, but I’m busy doing the last check to make sure all is well before the ebook file is uploaded to Amazon. And I’ve got to find some time today to write 5,000 words in the new m/m manuscript I’m getting to my editor in *gasp* two weeks. Plus, I have some revisions to do on a m/f manuscript that’s being polished. Whew. Busy, busy, busy, but it’s the best kind of busy. Besides, I know you guys are way more interested in Jason and Kale than anything I have to say :). So, here it is, the first chapter.

Measure of Peace Cover Reveal
It’s time! I’ve got three Measure of Peace surprises for you today that have been a long time coming.
Surprise number one: the cover!
Ooooo, shiny!

Jason and Kale have made a nice life for themselves in Naiara, but all is not as it seems. Jason’s hiding a letter with life-changing news, and Kale is plagued by nightmares he can’t discuss with Jason. Peace is within their grasp, but unfinished business threatens to disrupt everything. In order to move into their future, they must first face their past and seek answers in the country they fled.
Together, they venture back to Arine. Kale is searching for the mother and brother he left behind in slavery. Jason visits his father’s deathbed in hopes of finding the man he loved as a child.
Neither is prepared for what they find. Their devotion to each other must provide them with the strength to weather the storms they unwittingly enter. If not, the truths they uncover in Arine may leave them too damaged to ever find peace.
Surprise number three: release timeline!
I don’t have an exact date, only because there’s no telling how long Amazon will take from the time the book is uploaded to the time it goes live, but Measure of Peace should be available to download within a week! I’ll send out an email to everyone who’s subscribed to the newsletter as soon as I have an Amazon link. Measure of Peace will also be available on Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and Apple. Those sites tend to take longer, so I’ll send out an email with those links as they become available.
There you have it! Three Measure of Peace surprises.
But wait, there’s more!
Tomorrow, I’ll be posting the first chapter here on the blog. So make sure to come back for your sneak peek.
If you haven’t signed up for the newsletter yet or subscribed to the blog, you should. A lot is going to be happening in 2014 and you don’t want to miss any of it!

Upcoming Releases
Today marks the one year anniversary of Measure of Devotion being published. It has been quite a year, and I thought about how I wanted to celebrate. I thought about doing a retrospective, and I still might, but I wanted to do something for you, my loyal readers. So, today I’m announcing not one, but TWO upcoming books that will be released soon.
Drum roll please…
But if she stays away she’ll go mad. Both paths lead to destruction, and it’s up to Amaia to find a way to keep herself and Michael alive, whether Michael still loves her or not.
Coming out late summer.
Yes, that’s right! I write m/f and m/m. Who would have thunk it? Some people have suggested that I write my m/f under a different name. I’ve decided not to because I figure my readers are pretty smart and can decide for themselves which books of mine they want to read. Amaia’s story has actually been with me for years, and my husband has been begging me to write it because it’s his favorite. I’m really excited to get this out, and I hope you’ll give it a try.
But if you insist on another m/m…
Measure of Peace will be following not long after Haunting Echoes! Jason and Kale have made a nice life for themselves in Naiara, but unfinished business threatens to disrupt everything. In order to face their future, they must first face their past and venture back to Arine. The truth they uncover there throws new challenges their way. It’ll take all of their devotion and strength to finally bring peace to their lives.
Okay, so that’s not the best blurb (especially the cheesy play on the titles there at the end), but I wanted to give you guys a little taste of what’s coming. Measure of Peace will be coming out late summer/early fall. I’ll be posting the cover art once it’s complete.
Plans for the future
Due to the overwhelming support of readers like you (queue the PBS music), my schedule is now free to devote to writing. What that means is that you’ll be seeing a lot more books in the next year. I’ll be writing m/m, m/f, futuristic, fantasy, and contemporary. I’m an eclectic reader, and my writing is the same. However, I can promise that each book I write will be authentically and uniquely mine. Hopefully you’ll be adventurous and try new things with me, but if not, feel free to pick and choose which books you think you’ll like.
Questions? Comments? You know what to do. Fire away in the comments section!

The Story Behind the Story: Measure of Devotion
Inspiration comes in many forms. Sometimes a story develops slowly over time, inspiration trickling in. Other times, it comes in a flash. With Measure of Devotion, it came as an image.
I was standing outside my bedroom closet when, as clear as day, I saw Kale in the last scene of Measure of Devotion. I instantly forgot what I was doing. There was something about him that drew me in. The anguish on his face was so compelling. I had to know how he got there. What had happened to him?
Over the next few days, Kale told me his story. I was instantly in love with him, and getting to know him and Jason was like connecting with old friends. I even found myself feeling for Renee and the difficult situation in which society had placed her. All the characters came together to form the story of Measure of Devotion.
I told the story to my husband and he encouraged me to write it. For years he had been wanting me to write, and this felt like a safe first novel. I knew the characters so well and the online m/m community was so nice that I felt safe starting with Kale and Jason’s story.
So I began to write.
When I started, I had no idea what I was doing. I wandered around on the page, hoping that everything was moving in the right direction and at the right pace. That was the hardest part, the timing. By this point I knew an awful lot about Jason and Kale, enough to fill a dozen novels. How did I decide what to write and what to leave out? It took months.
Then, a rather miraculous thing happened.
All of my hours of studying story structure and how to write a novel clicked. I was finally able to clearly see how I should pace the story and where my plot points should be.
And one night, it was done. It was an odd feeling, finishing a novel. One moment I was caught up in the lives of people I had made up, and the next I was done.
Time to beta.
The first person who ever read Measure of Devotion was my best friend. I actually read the end to her while she was driving and I was positively giddy to see that she cried. I was elated that she felt so close to the characters that she was brought to tears by their pain. The very first thing she wanted to know was what happened next.
“That’s the end,” I told her.
“You can’t do that,” she said.
From the beginning, I had intended Measure of Devotion to be the story of this particular slice of Kale’s life. Nothing more. I was happy with the ending. Kale got what he wanted and that was that.
“Well then, write a sequel just for me.” As if novels are the product of a long weekend.
This argument went back and forth and ended with me conceding that I would remain open to inspiration for a sequel, but I wasn’t going to force anything.
Life continued.
Work progressed on getting Measure of Devotion published. I went through several editors before finding Karen, who has not only been a phenomenal editor, but a psuedo-therapist and dear friend. I also had different covers made up before finding the team at Streetlight Graphics who seemed to know what I wanted before I did.
But still, there was that nagging voice of my best friend demanding a sequel. I spoke to Karen about it and she liked the story as a standalone. She understood that I liked it as it was: a beautiful, bittersweet story of a man who experienced true love instead of the selfish love that is so rampant. However, she did think that a sequel would certainly be welcome if one came to me.
Meanwhile, I moved on to other stories while Measure of Devotion was being prepared for publication.
And that’s when it happened.
As soon as I turned my attention to another story, inspiration struck again. Only this time, it was Jason who called to me. I saw him sitting in the bar at the beginning of Measure of Strength. I needed to know where he was going from there.
It didn’t take long for Measure of Strength to take form after that. Additionally, I knew what would happen in a third book, although I didn’t think at the time anyone would ever be interested.
Why do I tell you this now?
Mainly because several people have stated that I only wrote Measure of Devotion as a cliffhanger and setup for Measure of Strength. The truth is, the sequel wasn’t even a thought until right before Measure of Devotion was released. I’m sure after reading this, those of you who thought I was mean before will think me doubly so, now that you know I was willing to let Measure of Devotion stand.
Also, my best friend wanted credit for the sequel .
So there you have it, the story of how Measure of Devotion came to be. If you have any questions about the book, ask below and I’ll do my best to answer.

Fiction Friday: Measure of Devotion – Chapter Forty-Nine
This is it! It’s hard to believe the last chapter of Measure of Devotion is up. When I first started posting a little less than a year ago, the end seemed so far away. I never imagined I would meet so many great people and receive such incredible support. Thank you so much for sticking with me.
A lot has changed since the first chapter went live. I didn’t know Measure of Devotion would end up free on Amazon. I thought that might make these weekly postings superfluous. I was surprised and thrilled to find that some readers still preferred to follow along each week.
Now, I have two books published and two more on the way. And in a week I’ll be going part time at my job to become a full time writer thanks to your support and feedback.
A lot has changed in a year, and it couldn’t have happened without YOU. So go and read the conclusion of Measure of Devotion. I hope it meets with your approval. I look forward to the future adventures we’ll have together with Jason, Kale, and characters you haven’t even met yet.

Fiction Friday: Measure of Devotion – Chapter Forty-Eight
Chapter Forty-Eight is posted. This is the second to last chapter. Is Renee going to come clean with Jason? Is Jason going to wise up? Is Kale going to speak up? It’s all up in the air. Find out what happens here.
