New Audio Books Coming Soon!

Good news, everyone!

I just found narrators for Shadow Scars and Mate! I'm pretty excited. I already listened to the first chapter of Shadow Scars and they actor does an amazing job. He really *gets* Seth's voice (and Conner's too!). I can't wait for it to come out -- probably some time in May, I hope!

The audio book for Sin for Me came out last month, and I was so busy with Alpha's Shadow that I forgot to post about it.

Here are the links if anyone wants. The narrator is an awesome New Zealander.

Check it out:

Amazon
Audible

It's on iTunes too, but I can't link to that here.

Something Wild This Way Comes. . . .

Thank you to everyone who bought (or is going to buy) Alpha's Shadow. I hope you guys like it as much as I enjoyed writing it. The book hit the bestseller list on All Romance and on Amazon, which is so totally awesome. You guys are the best!

I have a lot more planned in the Haven City world but, at the moment, I'm working on a sorta kinda sequel to Alpha Bait (Russian Wolf Pack), formally known as the Savage Wolf Pack. Remember Caleb, the white wolf? Well, he gets a mate! And we also get some lovely background information about him and the wolf who changed him.

It all starts when Caleb rescues a lone omega from a trap. The wolf whelp, named Wild, is only eighteen, although he's been on his own for the last five years. Caleb takes him in, but while they might be destined as mates, the white wolf isn't sure he wants to give in to his instincts. Meanwhile, a wolf hunter is looking for Wild, and he's not going to stop until the omega is dead.

So there's an age gap and danger and sexiness thrown in to boot!

I'll include a sneak peek of part of Wild for my mailing list (which comes out this weekend!). Join if you want to read it before everyone else!

Here's the cover:

Conner Sharp, a rogue wolf and murder detective, was supposed to be an alpha – until his pack betrayed him and left him for dead. Then he met Seth Alwen, his new partner, and things started looking up. The beautiful seer lusts after him – even if he keeps an infuriating number of secrets.
But something dangerous is stirring inside Conner. The urges of an alpha wolf he buried years ago are rising to the surface. Whenever Seth is near, the beast threatens to unleash itself on the man Conner cares for the most – the man who might be his long lost mate.
Seth never thought he’d shack up with a shifter, but Conner’s allure is impossible to deny. How will his boyfriend feel about Seth’s carefully guarded past, and the secrets that could rip their relationship apart?
Can Seth deal with the new alpha side of his lover while confiding in Conner what their future holds?
While the two men grapple with desire and trust in their relationship, a new murder threatens Haven City and all her shadow folk. A murder that brings Seth and Conner front and center to a dangerous necromancer and the one group of people the seer wants to avoid more than anything: his own family.

Contains graphic m/m sex scenes

Excerpt:

Lunch helps. Ripping into the kebabs isn’t the same as bringing down a deer, but it’s the closest I’m going to get in the middle of the city – barring pigeon hunting. I’m sure the locals wouldn’t approve.
Alwen wipes his mouth and sips the last of his water before offering me a breath mint.
“Are you trying to tell me something?” I ask and pop it into my mouth.
He laughs, harder than necessary, but the smile lights up his eyes. “No! But I thought you might want one after all that garlic.”
Drops of rain dot his hair and he holds the umbrella over my head, his shoulder bumping against mine as we walk back to work. The fragrance of burning leaves assaults my nose, his very presence waking me. Need courses through my veins at every step. I have to wait until we get home to touch him again, and the beast slumbering inside me hates waiting.
The building looms over us, and there isn’t a damn thing I can do to get out of going back to our files. Even a crime scene would give us a few minutes alone in the car.
As we walk into the precinct a well-dressed man, blandly handsome, steps out. He casts a hungry look at my partner, eyes sweeping up and down Seth’s wiry frame. The urge to put an arm around my boyfriend’s shoulders is almost as strong as the one to rip the man’s eyeballs from his head.
Alwen glances up at me as he closes the umbrella. “Did you just growl?”
“Bathroom. Now!”
“Do you really have to go?” he asks, his eyes narrowed as we step into the elevator.
With a tug, he pulls his arm out of my grasp – and I didn’t even realize I was gripping onto him.
“Sharp? What the hell?”
If I look at his lips I won’t be able to help myself. Dammit!
“Get your ass into the bathroom, and I’ll explain.”
The elevator dings before Seth can argue, and we march to the bathroom as casually as possible. It only has two stalls and two urinals and both are empty. As Alwen unzips his pants and relieves himself, I turn the lock on the door.
“You’re not going to shift in here, are you?”
“No.”
Realization dawns in his eyes while he washes his hands. It takes every ounce of self-control to let him finish. Then I grasp his chin and pull his lips to mine. Like that morning, he melts into my kiss, hands groping at my shoulders and digging into the muscles beneath.
My left arm aches dully, and I flinch under his touch.
“Sorry,” he mumbles into my mouth. “What the hell came over you?”
My lips travel down his sharp jaw and neck. “That guy was checking you out.”
“What guy?” he pants.
Every breath fans the fire in my groin.
“Never mind.”
Talking isn’t my priority, but we can't fuck here. No lube.
I pull his plump bottom lip in my teeth until he whimpers, then pin his body against the dingy tile wall. The steady beat of his heart pounds against my chest, fueling me forward. I never lost control like this at work.
What is this? A mixture of disappointment and jealousy?
Hell if I know.
As my fingers pinch at his hardened nipples, the familiar ring of my cell phone sounds.
Seth pants in my face, his pink tongue visible behind those delectable lips. An overwhelming part of me wants to break the damn thing and bend him over the sink. He’s my boyfriend. I should be able to take him wherever the fuck I please!
Wait. What am I thinking?
Deep breath.
Back up.
I step away from Seth, his violet eyes wide, and unlock the bathroom door as he pulls his phone out of his pocket. Right. It’s been off since it died yesterday. As Alwen turns his cell on, I answer the call.
“Sharp,” I say and clear my throat. At least neither of us got hard – that’d be difficult to explain to our colleagues.
“Are you with detective Alwen?” Hunt asks.
She must not have seen us come in after lunch.
Seth holds the phone to his ear. Must’ve gotten a few messages last night. I hope they weren’t important.
“Yeah.”
“Good. There’s been a murder on the north side. Clair Mallory. You guys get to check it out. Looks like today wasn’t a slow day after all.”
“Sure thing. We’ll get the info and be on our way,” I say and hang up. “Hunt says there’s a new case for us. Woman named Clair Mallory. Who was that?”
Seth’s pale as a sheet when he lowers his cell, his lips reddened from the kiss. “The victim.”

Here's a look at the cover laid flat.

I'll make an official announcement about the release tomorrow. For now, I'm gonna eat my French bread pizza and relax for the afternoon.

Alpha's Shadow Cover Preview

I'm in the final 20k home stretch of the book right now. I've come to the conclusion I'm a little crazy -- or my beta reader who talked me down out of a "everything I'm writing is absolute crap" mood pointed it out to me.

You see, Seth needs to tell Conner all his visions, but he hordes them like a, well, horder. It sort of drives me insane. Conner was mad. I was mad. Seth was a jerk about the whole thing.

Every time I set up a scene for him to tell the truth, he wouldn't do it! Ugh. The nerve of some characters! But I had a strange breakthrough yesterday -- and Seth had a mental breakdown (for various reasons. This new case is pretty stressful). So he's finally fessing up!

I also made the cover for Alpha's Shadow. Check it out! The tentative release date is March 18th!!!

Rogue Wolf Book 2: Alpha's Shadow sneak peek!

Forest Park by Encmstr
I'm not much of an outliner. I always have a vague idea of what needs to happen in a story, but the characters tend to make their own path. Or what I thought needed to happen is boring, so something exciting happens instead (like the magic crow Conner chased through the woods yesterday).

But I also realized I had a lot of loose threads dangling at the end of Shadow Scars (okay, my beta readers and a kindly reviewer pointed them out). So I have stuff I needed to answer in the second book. Great! Now I have a direction as I set off into the depths of this story.

It'm about 1/3 of the way through -- and I learned a few things. Seth's dad is an asshole -- like wow! No wonder he avoids his family. Conner's having issues with his powers so he's moodier and a bit more of an alpha, and it's going to get worse. Maybe a lot worse.

Here's an unedited sneak peek. I'll send another sneak peek scene to my mailing list next weekend, so sign up if you want to read it!

New Release: Safeword

Okay, it's been live on all sites since last night, but I was too tired to write a post. Now I'm working on Alpha's Shadow full throttle!

After Maxwell Price’s lover and sub, Brian, dies of a drug overdose, the Dom sets out to save another man’s life to atone for his failure to save his boyfriend. Hiro, a young heroin addicted prostitute, catches his eye. Not only is he gorgeous, the man clearly craves the dominance Maxwell yearns to give, but will he trust the broken Dom to rescue him?
When the mysterious stranger offers Hiro a chance to get clean, he takes it without hesitation. Maxwell, his savior, introduces him into the world of BDSM – and Hiro relishes in the pain, pleasure and control – delighting in his newfound role of sub to the sexy and powerful man.
But Maxwell’s hiding a secret – a dead boyfriend that overshadows their budding relationship. Can both Dom and sub heal the wounds from their pasts and forge a future together?
Warning: Contains graphic gay BDSM sex scenes.
This book has been revised and was previously released as a novella and short stories under the titles: The Control Series Complete, Taking Control: An Erotic Novella, Training Day, Private Play, Dining Out, Cooking Lessons and Love in Chains.
Excerpt:
The cold, fall air bites into my skin and lungs, but I don’t bother with my jacket. The clients can’t see the goods if I cover up. Instead, I lean against the building in my skintight jeans and wife beater along with the other boys on this block.
The girls hang out down the street, just to make it easier for our clients to find us. Clients – like we’re selling something other than sex.
I’m shaking, not just from the cold but also from the lack of heroin in my system. I tried to get clean a few months ago, but it didn’t take. Now I’m on the streets again. I don’t think my parents are ever going to let me come back this time.
After the last disgrace, it’s just too much for them. My older brother will make them proud.
Rubbing my arms, I notice the black BMW as it edges closer. It’s been driving by at the same time every night for the past few days. It’s probably a new client. Undercover cops can’t afford nice cars. But this guy is most likely some kind of freak. The ones with money always are.
The BMW comes to a stop and the passenger side window rolls down. He must be getting desperate if he finally stopped. I can hardly make out the dark figure inside.
Garbo rushes toward it, sticking his skinny hip out in a way he thinks is hot. “What can I do for you?”
I can’t hear what the guy says, but Garbo turns around and points at me. “Hey, Asian, he wants you.”
Asian is just my nickname since I’m Japanese. I’m not going to tell any of these junkies my real name. It’s not like it matters anymore though. This is my life now – fending for myself on the mean streets of L.A.
I read a statistic once when I was still in high school. The number of gay kids that end up homeless is like triple that of straight kids. Funny, my parents kicked me out before they found out I batted for the same team.
Slowly I walk up to the car and peak inside. In the darkness, I make out a business suit and a shadowy face.
“I’ve been watching you,” a deep, velvety voice says. A man’s voice.
“Oh yeah? What do you want? Hand jobs are twenty-five bucks and a blowjob will cost fifty.”
I change the price depending on the type of car. Just because I’m a junkie doesn’t mean I can’t put my brain to use some of the time.
The man chuckles in the darkness. “I think you’re selling yourself short. Get in the car and we can talk about it.”
Six months earlier I wouldn’t have dreamed of climbing in a car with some rich stranger. Funny what a drug habit can do to you. If he kills me and dumps my body in an alley, I wonder if my parents would ever find out. Or would I get buried as the Japanese John Doe? Without reservations, I climb in, the leather of the seats smooth and lush against my back.
“Seat belt,” the driver says, and I strap myself in while I try to get a better look at him. His hair’s long and tied back, showing off a smooth and handsome face, but it’s too dark to see details.
“I usually conduct my business around that corner,” I say and point.
Suddenly his hand clamps down on my wrist, squeezing it like a vice. “Do you want to get clean? Get your life together?”
I should pull my arm away, but his grip is so strong I know I won’t be able to manage. Not when I’m about as weak as a toddler.
“I can’t get clean. I’ve tried. Now do you want me to suck your off or not?”While teeth glint in the shadows.
“So you want to be a whore for the rest of your short life? OD in an alley somewhere?” His voice isn’t velvety smooth anymore but raw with hurt.
Why would this guy care if I died?
“Look, I’m not interested in joining your cult or whatever,” I say, trembling under his touch. It’s been too long since my last hit. I need it, and I need it now!
“You like pain, don’t you? You enjoy the moment before you get high. That aching in your body for the drugs. What if I could make you ache for something else?”
I really do try to yank my arm away now, but his hold tightens.
“If this is some cult thing--”
He chuckles, a low rumble in his chest. “No. But if you come with me I can get you clean. You only have to trust me and sign a contract.”
My head feels light. “What kind of a contract?”
“One that says you’ll be in my care and under my control until I see fit to let you go.”“Where?”
He sighs. “My condo. It’s up in the hills, and I think you’ll like it. Come with me and you can see for yourself.”
“So, I’m going to live with you, and you’ll feed me and help me get clean? No catch? And this isn’t some kind of half-way house or state program?”
His jaw tenses. “Not presently. I’m only offering this once. Take it or leave it.”
My brain should warn me not to go with this guy, just in case he’s a crazy serial killer. I can’t muster any fear though – not when I’ve been sleeping in alleys for the past few months.
“Well? What do you say?”
I lick my lips, dry from the wind and cold. This could be my last chance at a normal life. “Fine. I’ll come with.”

New Release: Sin for Me

Hooray, my latest re-write is out on all sites now. It's on sale for 99 cents for the next few days!

Here's the cover and blurb. Check it out if you enjoy sexy gay monks. Yeah, I sorta got this idea from Tropic Thunder -- I wish that movie was real! I'd watch the hell out of it.

Brother Pío’s spent his entire life in a secluded Spanish monastery where he hides a fearful secret. Not only is he attracted to men, he also finds pleasure in pain. Instead of offering a path to sanctity, the thongs of his whip drive him into a flurry of lustful thoughts and desires.
When Brother Matthew, a monk and traveling scholar, arrives he turns Pío’s world upside down. The man gives Pío the pain and release he needs, but at what cost? As Matthew helps Pío come to terms with his conflicted feelings, their relationship gives way to danger when the other monks grow suspicious.
However, Matthew can’t remain in Son Rullan forever forcing Pío to choose where his loyalties lie: with the Church or with his lover?
Warning: Graphic and rough M/m sex scenes with BDSM elements.
Novella length. Revised and previously published as Brothers in Sin.
Excerpt:
Opening the door to his room, Pío looked in the chamber. Sunlight fell through the window on the south wall and across the stone floor. Only two beds and two dressers stood in the room, along with the private bathroom for the tub and chamber pot.
Not since he was a novice had Pío shared a room with another monk. While he knew the room didn’t belong to him in any sense, it still felt like a violation to have another person there.
Watching him.
Judging him.
Weren’t God’s eyes enough?
Brother Matthew bent over his dresser with a leather bag on the floor next to his feet. He looked up when Pío stepped in, smiling.
His face was clear and pale, a slight powdering of golden brown freckles across his nose and cheeks. Long lashes surrounded his deep green eyes, and a full, pretty mouth punctuated his straight nose. Auburn hair fell over his temples as he stood, offering Pío his hand.
Not old or ugly in the least.
“You must be Brother Pío. The Abbot told me you’d show me around.” His Spanish accent was strange.
Pío shook Matthew’s hand and nodded. “Yes. When you’re ready let me know.”
The man’s reddish hair and pale skin were unlike anything Pío had ever seen. While his face was as youthful as Pío’s own, Matthew stood almost a head taller. Every man Pío’d ever laid eyes on in his whole life looked similar to him. Dark golden skin, dark eyes and brown hair in varying shades.
Did all men from England appear so striking and command such a presence?
Matthew’s strong hand gripped Pío’s, and his eyes fell to the marks the rosary string left. The taller man ran his thumb over one of them lightly, and Pío fought the desire to pull his hand away. The other monk’s touch was delicate, but there was firmness to it  -- a determination in his eyes that made Pío’s head light and his groin hot.
“I’ll be ready in a moment,” Matthew said and let his fingers trail off Pío’s, making the hairs rise on the smaller monk’s neck.
Standing back, he watched Matthew remove a scourge from his bag and place it neatly in the drawer. Pío took a deep breath as he stared at the worn black leather.
The familiar smell of sweat and blood filled his nose -- the snap of the thong on his back. The satisfaction of pain coursing through his veins, rushing to his engorged member, begging for more -- for release. The one thing he knew he shouldn’t revel in – yet his body betrayed him with every slap of the little whip.
Slowly, Matthew slid the drawer closed and the wood made a loud scraping sound, waking Pío from his fantasy.
“I’m ready for the tour.”
Pío nodded, picking at the unraveling hem of his robes. His cheeks burned, even in the coolness of the room. “Oh, yes. Good.”
“Are you certain you feel well?” Matthew asked and raised a large hand to Pío’s forehead. “You look feverish.”
It was warm and dry and something about his touch invited Pío into it. But that was wrong! He shouldn’t give in to his desires – especially not in front of a fellow monk. Fire and brimstone for eternity were worse than earthly pleasures for a few fleeting moments, weren’t they?
