Firearm Friday

Update on the Ruger #1 that gun guy hubby’s amazingly talented friend Roger L Ronnie is hand engraving for him in a Nimschke/english hybrid pattern. These pictures show the engraving and the 2 steps before the gold inlay is applied to the mule deer. So gorgeous, doncha think? No, it’s not done. Now Roger works on the detail of the mule deer.

Shot of the Week #60

Time consuming, but impressive shot to serve :)

Candy Corn Oranges

Ingredients:

1-750ml bottle Cointreau orange liqueur
10 large oranges
1 box orange Jell-O
1 can coconut milk
1 envelope Knox (unflavored) gelatin
1/4 cup sugar

Preparation:

Cut the oranges in half and hollow them out.
For the orange layer:

Boil one cup of water and stir in the orange jello.
Once dissolved, remove from heat and add 1 cup of Cointreau.
Pour the mixture into the orange peels, filling halfway.
Refrigerate for 2-3 hours, until firm.

For the white layer:

Add 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup coconut milk, Knox gelatin, and sugar to a saucepan.
Over medium heat, stir until gelatin and sugar are dissolved.
Remove from heat and add 1/2 cup Cointreau.
Pour mixture on top of orange jello layer and refrigerate overnight.

With a sharp knife, cut the orange halves in eighths.
Serve.

Happy Independence Day!

Light some firecrackers, drink some beer, eat some food and remember why we’re celebrating being the greatest nation on earth today.

No fireworks at Mt. Rushmore this year, but here’s a pic from years past…Happy 4th of July everyone!
