Interview with photographer Felicia Simion

Felicia Simion has been gracious enough to do an interview for me.  She is the photographer who took the original photograph used in the cover of Freak.

Isn't it gorgeous?
Now on with the interview......

How long have you been taking photographs professionally? I've been taking photographs which I still find amateuristic, definitely, for about 5 years now.
What inspires you? The World and all its magic.
What is your favorite camera to use? My beautiful Canon EOS 7D.
What is your favorite subject to use? People and their supreme emotions.
What is your favorite work that you have completed to date? I cannot pick a favourite one, but I do like some of my works more than others.
Has any of your works been featured anywhere or used in other book covers? Yes, book covers are my “specialty” as far as selling photos is concerned. Also music album covers.
What advice do you have for anyone looking into becoming a photographer? Stop blinking for a while and just watch the Earth spin.
Is your work available anywhere for sale? All of my photos from www.ineedchemicalx.deviantart.com are printable for sale.
Do you have a website?www.feliciasimionphotography.com
What is the best way to contact you if someone else is interested in using your work for a cover? On my Gmail account, feliciasimionphoto@gmail.com .

Why I Became a Writer

I became a writer for many reasons.  It is hard to come up with the right words for why I did it.

I guess I need to start at the beginning.  I have always loved books.  I love the way they feel in my hands, the way they smell, and most of all the way that they make me feel.  I love being whisked away into places, times, and story lines that I would never experience in my life.

The first book that I remember reading is Misery by Stephen King.  After that, I don't remember many times when there wasn't a book in my hands.

When I had my son, I became a full time student and stay-at-home mom.  I needed something to keep my mind busy and an outlet to express my creativity.  I found the site Absolute Write and began researching how to write articles for online websites.  After I had several articles published, I started wondering what else I could accomplish.  I started skimming the threads on writing novels.  Before long, I was sucked in by all of the stories of people just like me.  I began to think that maybe I could do that too.  I sat down at the computer and started typing, not really thinking that I would finish, but I DID!

That is when I became serious about writing.  I began studying the craft, educating myself as much as I could.  And then got very serious about writing.  There have been numerous ups and downs during my journey, but it has been so worth it.

Without the support of my writing friends, I do not think that I would have continued.  There were many times that they brought me back off the ledge, and I am forever indebted to them.

I am also forever indebted to Stephen King who inspired my creativity from a very young age.

While writing wasn't necessarily the path that I thought I would take, it is one that I cannot imagine not doing anymore.  My characters just won't let me.  During any break that I have taken from writing, my characters have eventually bugged me enough to open my laptop and start typing again.
