It’s important to find a balance in between being self critical and patting yourself on the back. Make a mental list of what you want to work on but also make a list of what you do well. Also when you think a poem is lacking try to pinpoint what it lacking and work on whatever that is, but also understand that there are no perfect poems. The closest we can get to that is creating something that allows the audience to understand our intent and receive the message
