Rudy, When I first write a poem, it has that new poem smell and I love it. But after a while I begin to doubt it. Begin to wonder if this is the best work I'll ever do and I'll feel like it's not even good, despite that people tell me it is and that I scor
I’ve definitely experienced that. I think its a caveat of having respect for the craft and high standards for the manner in which you contribute to it. It’s important to find a balance in between being self critical and patting yourself on the back. Make a mental list of what you want to work on but also make a list of what you do well. Also when you think a poem is lacking try to pinpoint what it lacking and work on whatever that is, but also understand that there are no perfect poems. The closest we can get to that is creating something that allows the audience to understand our intent and receive the message
