I've been TAGGED by Julie Lessman
My very good friend and author, Julie Lessman TAGGED me on a BLOG HOP BOOK TOUR and this is how it works. I will answer the following questions and then tag another author so you can read their answers to the same questions. It’s a fun way to learn a little bit more about my upcoming book, Swept Away, releasing in February, so here we go!
What is/was the working title of your most current or upcoming book?
Swept Away (book #1 in the Trouble in Texas Series)
Where did the idea come from for the book?
I got the idea for Swept Away while doing research into Andersonville Prison for my just-completed Kincaid Brides series. The idea percolated while I finished that series, but some of what went on in Andersonville was so interesting that I followed some of those men, who found a bond that was closer than a brother, into Post Civil War Texas.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Ruthy MacNeil isn’t all that upset when a flash flood separates her from the no-account family who raised her but she’s rescued by Luke Stone on his way to start a range war . . . so there are more chances to die in her immediate future.
How long did it take you to write your manuscript?
I write two full length manuscripts a year but they don’t take six months, more like four, but a finished manuscript still needs time spent on it, revising, so I used up the six months usually.
What celebrities best describe your hero and heroine?
Have you seen the new Superman? Henry Cavill. Oh My Gosh! From now on just assume all my heroes look like him unless I say different. Only my hero is of Italian heritage for Henry Cavill with raven black hair and black eyes.
And my heroine is red headed Irish. She looks like that woman on the cover of the Celtic Women album with coiled up hair, only really red and freckled skin.

How do you decide who to marry?
1. HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY? (written by kids)
-You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming. -- Alan, age 10
-No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with.
-- Kristen, age 10
2. WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?
Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then.
-- Camille, age 10
3. HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED?
You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids.
-- Derrick, age 8
4. WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON?
Both don't want any more kids.
-- Lori, age 8
5. WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?
-Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough.
-- Lynnette, age 8
-On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date.
-- Martin, age 10
6. WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE?
-When they're rich.
-- Pam, age 7
-The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that.
- - Curt, age 7
-The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It's the right thing to do. - - Howard, age 8
7. IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED?
It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them.
-- Anita, age 9
8. HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN'T GET MARRIED?
There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there?
-- Kelvin, age 8
And the #1 Favorite is.......
9. HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK?
Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a dump truck.-- Ricky, age 10Mary Connealy http://www.maryconnealy.com

First Snow of Winter
The cows across the road from my house. I'm taking this from my front steps, the briefest possible exposure to the elements. My Cowboy has been out pushing snow all morning, since before I got up.He's shipping calves today, for an auction tomorrow so he had to get a semi-truck up to these gates! Then travel on roads that we HOPE are clear and not slick.
My front steps. I usually judge snow fall amounts by looking at the railings on these steps.
This is south of the house. The barn and pick-up with cattle trailer attached. Besides the semi we need to haul two loads in the two trailers My Cowboy and his brother own. This is looking through my screened in back porch, you can see the windmill on the top right corner.
This is out the back door. My cherry tree left, the garage right, the tracks from My Cowboy wading down to the shed to get his tractor fired up.White Christmas!Mary Connealy http://www.maryconnealy.com
