What If...

I like to play a little game I call "What If".  I know there are lots of different versions of it but with me, this is how the majority of my books get started.  I also like to play the version where I ask "what if my book was made into a movie?"  Yeah, I know.  That's a little premature (okay a LOT premature) but a girl can dream!

I've been getting a lot of comments on Wattpad as more people read Dream Walkers (over 350K reads!!) and several have mentioned how awesome a movie it would make.  (Thanks guys!!)  Of course I'm inclined to agree with them but then again if I didn't I shouldn't be sharing the story with the world!

One of the awesome features of Wattpad is that it allows you to post your imaginary cast.  That way everyone can envision the characters.  It also lets you post pics and videos.  I like to put up the songs that inspired the story.  :)  Anyway, I've started casting Dream Walkers and would love to hear your opinions!  Who do you see playing Cordy and Reid?  I had a hard time figuring them out!

If you'd like to see my vision of Dream Walkers you can check out my pinterest board here!

Sale on Amazon and Stayin' Alive!

Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin' alive, stayin' alive.  :)  That's me!  I love summer (not as much as spring and fall but who's keeping score?) but in some ways it's the most difficult season.  There are the big things like the fact that my kids are involved in a million different activities (i.e. tennis, hip-hop, cooking class, theater camp) and that we like to camp when we can...which has only happened once thus far.  There are also the little things like keeping track of everyone's sunglasses, hats, swimsuits and the almost empty can of sunscreen.  Not to mention the never ending pile of laundry that seems to multiply in warm weather!

I've been working on Curiosity Killed The Crow...forever...After the conference in May I was inspired to completely rewrite the novel...yes, REWRITE!  I was able to save some of it using the cut and paste feature (which i adore by the way!) but most of it is all new.  That is taking a while, so I'm a little behind on my other projects what with all the other summer activities.

As soon as I'm done I will be diving into final edits for Sea of Despair and then off to start Obscures.  Speaking of which....I'm excited to say Dream Walkers actually reached #1 in Paranormal on Wattpad!  It's no longer there but it stayed for quite a while!!

On another good news note: my ebook is now $3.40 on Amazon!  Amazing!!  So if you haven't gotten a chance to read Army of Sorrow, please give it a try!

Wattpad Craziness

So on Friday of last week I became a featured author on Wattpad.  In a matter of days I went from have around 2500 reads to over 15,000!  I can't believe it!  I'm finally getting some feedback from people and I'm so excited!

On a slightly different note: I went to the writers' conference this weekend and had an AMAZING time!!  My friend Amanda managed to talk me into doing a pitch session (honestly my worst nightmare!) and it paid off!  I got a full manuscript request.  The agent kindly gave me a little bit to polish up my manuscript with all the wonderful things I learned this weekend....

So now I'm basically rewriting my novel!  I'm really trying to push myself to get it done soon.  I'm really excited about this book and think it'll do well!

I got to rub shoulders with some pretty awesome authors too!  Anne Perry (though I didn't actually get to talk to her), Janette Rallison (aka C.J. Hill), Tyler Whitesides and James Dashner!

See, I even have proof. :)
One of the perks of going to these conferences is meeting other like-minded (and sometimes not so like-minded!) writers.  Amanda and I got lucky and managed to meet several and hope to band together in an effort to support and encourage one another...because let's face it.  We all have those days where we think our writing sucks and that no one will ever read it, etc, etc.
Here's to friends you click instantly with and to our new group that will hopefully churn out amazing books soon to be seen in stores everywhere!

Road Trip!

So this weekend I'm headed off to Utah with my friend Amanda (you know, the one I do Novel Nibblers with).  We signed up for the LDStorymakers Conference.

We both have pitch sessions and will be taking LOTS of classes.  I'm pretty excited!

Also this week is my kids' schools Reading Week.  Yesterday was Crazy Hat Day and today is Crazy Hair Day.  My kiddos live for Crazy Hair Day!  I got up an entire half hour early (do I love these kids or what?!) just to do their hair for the day.  This always involves massive amounts of hair spray and color spray.  Here are this year's creations!

Photo: Crazy hair day at school!

The color doesn't translate real well on here but they are all crazy colors and have rainbow glitter!  Even my oldest (who I swear is not upset by the fact his hair is hot pink...he picked it!)

Tomorrow is Pajama Day.  I will be doing the fifth and sixth grade Career Fair tomorrow as well...debating if I could get away with showing up in my pj's.  After all, I do work in them fairly frequently! :)

On top of all this....I'm doing the last bookfair of the year at the school!  ACK!  I'm not sure if I could get any busier this week.  I probably shouldn't have said that.  Now I'll find out something huge is happening tomorrow or something.  May is always insane!

Actually there is one more thing going on this week!  On Friday I will become a featured Wattpad Author!  However, I had to do all the legwork for that a while ago so at least it isn't more work now!

Happy May everyone!

I Need Your Help!

I finally got all of Dream Walkers up on Wattpad.  If you haven't had the chance to read it, now is the time!

I am scheduled to be a featured author on Wattpad in May.  As part of the program they have asked me for a couple of quotes from the book.  I would like your help with this!  I need quotes from Dream Walkers that are one to two sentences long.

As for other updates.  I have begun final edits on Sea of Despair and am aiming for it to be released sometime this summer.  It will only be available on Kindle most likely.

I am finishing up more edits on Curiosity Killed the Crow and could use a couple of beta readers again....if anyone is game.  :)

And finally I have officially started Isle of Darkness!  Obscures is next!!

Only 3 More to Go!

I just posted chapter 22 of Dream Walkers!  There are only three more chapters till it's up in its entirety.  Click here to read it!

I've been debating on the title...what do you think?  Do you like it?  Do you think it's boring?  What's your opinion?

Howdy!

I've noticed a lot of traffic on my blog lately from other countries!  I'd like to say welcome to my little slice of the cyber world.  If you're new here, be sure to check out my Wattpad account!  I have a sample of my published book up as well as a couple of short stories expanding the story!

I also have a new (currently unpublished) novel up.  I will be adding another soon!  I would love to hear from you, so please leave me a comment here or on my stories on Wattpad! :)

Another One Bites The Dust

I posted another chapter on Wattpad for Dream Walkers.  I'm still working on Curiosity Killed The Crow and as soon as I'm done with that I'll be doing another round of edits on Sea of Despair all while starting Isle of Darkness....whew!

I also need to start outlining Obscures and have been kicking around ideas for another new book...

Hopefully I'll be able to get it all done in the next year or so!  ACK!

Meet Orla

Name: Orla

Residence: Donegal, Ireland

Date & Place of Birth: April 1180 AD (give or take), Ireland

Physical Description: approx. 8 inches, long golden blonde curls, periwinkle eyes

Ethnic Origin: Sprite

Sprites are charged with the changing of seasons.  As such, they are typically busy and tend to keep to themselves.  They tend to live along, only meeting with each other a couple of times a year.  Mates stay togther though, but children leave once old enough to live on their own.

Orla met Brea when Brea was still very young and have been friends since.  Orla felt an overwhelming need to protect this strange leprechaun that had no magic.   She adores Brea and tries to talk her out of her craziest schemes, though she doesn't always succeed.  She is a bit jealous of Caith when Brea befriends him.

Orla felt oddly violated when she learned Caith could see her all the time.  Gradually she grew used to it and now enjoys having another close friend.
