I was so busy working on my latest novel that I did not get a chance to post a writing tip this week.  So sorry!

Her Indecent Proposal

My dear Readers,

It is now the night of February 28, just a few hours before my deadline to publish 'Her Indecent Proposal' - I had promised to have it ready for March 1.  Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I will not be able to make my deadline.  I'm so sorry : (

As soon as 'Her Indecent Proposal' is ready I will be posting the announcement on my blog.  It will definitely be within a week or two (working to make it earlier rather than later).  I do apologize for not living up to my commitment.

Judy's Writing Tip #1

I'm sure many of my readers are also writers (or aspiring writers) so, in the spirit of sharing, I'll be posting a writing tip each week. These are writing strategies I've learned from other writers, from conferences, from books on writing, or things I simply figured out as I wrote my own stories.  Hopefully, you'll find them useful.

Tip #1.

Pay close attention to your first line, your first paragraph, your first scene and your first chapter.  This is where you HOOK the reader and reel her in.  Grab her attention from your very first line, reel her in with the first paragraph, pull her up with your first scene, and drop her into the bottom of the boat with your first chapter.  Once you've got her there, it is highly unlikely that she'll get away from you at that point.  So make sure to end your first chapter on a question, an exciting point or a mystery - make sure she has to read on to find out.

Good news and bad news

Let me start with the bad news.  I just started a 'healthy eating' diet which does not include Snickers.  (pouts as she is typing this).

On the other hand, I was happy to wake up to find 'Bedding Her Billionaire Boss' at #30 on the Movers and Shakers list on Amazon.com and at #87 in the entire store.  Woohoo!

Remember your vitamins...

Good morning, everyone!

This has absolutely nothing to do with books but I just thought I'd give my readers (who live in cold climates) a gentle reminder to take your Vitamin D supplements during the winter months.  Low vitamin D levels (due to lack of exposure to the sun) can weaken the immune system and make you prone to a variety of illnesses.

And stock up on your fish oil with Omega 3 (the liquid version is more potent than the capsule version).  Since taking fish oil, in  the past month my energy level has shot up to about 9.75 (even 10 on some days).  Now I can churn out books like crazy  : )

But seriously, guys, let's take care of ourselves, eat right, exercise daily (I need to work on this one), sleep well and avoid stress as we much as we can.  And when the kids seem determined to drive you over the edge with their whining about homework or leaving their toys on the stairs once again or refusing to eat their vegetables, just rest your hand over your heart and take three deep, cleansing breaths.  Your blood pressure level will go right back down and you'll be at peace with the world again (okay, maybe not totally at peace but you'll feel a lot better).

Have a healthy, happy and productive day!  (In fact, I'm wishing this for you all year - now do your part to make my wish come true)

Thanks so much to all those who e-mailed me to say which story I should start working on next:  'Sweet Charlotte' or 'Her Indecent Proposal'.  Majority carries - 'Her Indecent Proposal' it is! Indecent is a lot more interesting than sweet, right? : )

Okay, guys,

I promised to have 'Sweet Charlotte' out during the month of February (Naughty and Nice Series).  However, I have a new idea for the BAD BOY BILLIONAIRES Series, a  book called 'Her Indecent Proposal'.  So which should I do first?  Go for the 'sweet' or the 'indecent'?
