Revisiting……

So I finally found the episode of Survivorman that inspired me to write “The Time On The Island”. It was interesting to rewatch it again over a year later, I can see why it made me think certain things. I’m still not sure where the twist came from though!

Still here. Still writing.

Wrote a flash piece just over 400 words today.

In memory of Frederik Pohl, we salute you.

Science Fiction writing has lost another great man, Frederik Pohl passed away yesterday.

At 93 he’d had an incredible innings, he wrote for 75 years!

A lot of you will be saying “I’ve never heard of him.” That is your loss.

Seek out “The Tunnel under the World” or watch the BBC tv version of it. You’ll see how incredible his writing was.

I will be re-reading Gateway in his memory, Go to your well deserved rest Fred.

The first of the month means!

A new release normally. Normally.

But my life has never been remotely normal. So no new release today.

Because I say so, no other reason.

The release IS ready, proofed, cover done, just needs to be converted (because Smashwords hates RTF for some reason) then it will be 100% ready.

Ideally I like to get the release out on the first of the month, but I am subject to moods, just like everyone else.

Today I was not feeling it. So no release today.

Maybe tomorrow. We’ll see.

And now you know as much as I do.

Useful advice for writers.

When in doubt, make it up – The writer credo

(Apparently I came up with this on reddit, 27 days ago)

Astronaut Zombie, An idea inspired by reddit

Astronaut Zombie.

FADE IN

Shot of “Astronaut” doing spacewalk on moon.

Another known Astronaut sees him & tries to hail him on the radio, no response.

He tries again to no avail.

He makes his way over to the other “Astronaut” who has been walking away from him the whole time.

The Astronaut makes a few small jumps and lands just behind the “Astronaut” who he taps on the shoulder.

The “Astronaut” slowly turns around. His helmet shield is not raised.

It’s fully open. Open to space.

And the “Astronaut” is clearly not a living human being.

He is a desicated husk. A zombie.

Who starts to bite and grab at the Astronaut.

FADE TO BLACK

(Sometimes you just can’t turn your inner writer off)

A poem, because I was bored.

Have a poem.

Heaven’s got no wi-fi, Hell has got 4g,

The Devil’s streaming Breaking Bad off Torrents just for me.

He downloads brand new movies while God gets 404′s,

Jesus he may want our souls but the Devil’s getting yours.

Heaven gives you theatre, Hell 3D tv,

Going to Heaven looks quite nice, but Hell seems better to me.

Heaven’s got classical music, Hell’s got Rock ‘n Roll,

Given the choice I think I know where I want to send my soul.

Short update about writing

Typed up my short Mythbusters related story. Not sure what the fate of that one is yet.
Heard back from Every Day Fiction, Veterans didn’t make the cut sadly. They liked it but didn’t think there was enough characterization, they got the themes though so I achieved my main aim.
