Virtual Advent ~ Day 3
It's day three and we have some holiday themed entertainment!
I happen to love the movie How to Train Your Dragon, and CAN NOT WAIT for the sequel! But sadly it's not out for a while yet, so in the meantime the first one will have to do--that and the adorable holiday short they did called Gift of the Nightfury. If you enjoyed HTTYD at all and you've not seen it, you're missing out!
Or that is to say, you were...
Gift of the Nightfury
...and because it's maybe the best song ever... Test Drive (flying theme):

Virtual Advent ~ Day 1
December 1st. Seriously? Seriously?! Last I remember it was somewhere in the middle of October and I was trying to decide what to be for Halloween...
Anyway, now that the holiday season is well upon us, it's time to kick off my virtual advent calendar! I don't know about you, but for me, the only kind of advent calendars I ever had any interest in were the kind that had chocolate in them. You know, the ones where you open a little door every morning and you'd get a piece of chocolate, usually in the shape of something Christmasy? Well that's what I have decided to do here on the blog all this month; give you all a treat a day. I love all my readers very much, and can think of no better way to thank you all for your amazing support than to offer you all some gifts and cheer this season. Each day I will post something new for you, including excerpts and extras from upcoming books, giveaways of all kinds(books, Amazon Gift cards, goodies, and more), as well as a few special surprises along the way. There will be a treat a day for 25 days, and the giveaways will be quick(one or two days max to enter) so be sure to bookmark the page so you don't miss any of the holiday cheer!
And since this would be day one, let start off right, shall we? How about a Christmas (or insert applicable holiday here) Cookie!?
Or first giveaway will be a cookie from Cheryl and Co plus a $5 gifct card to Cheryl's! (you now, for more cookies!) All you have to do to enter is leave a comment below(don't forget an email or twitter handle so I can contact you), and the winner will be announced in tomorrow's post! That's it! (Note: If you do not celebrate Christmas, not to worry, the winner can denote their holiday of choice when I contact for the mailing address)
Good luck and happy first day of December!

Confessions of an 'Adult on Paper'
Today is a something of a special day, and I figured a fun way to celebrate would be by offering up a few confessions and letting you all get to know me a little better...
I love Swedish Fish and Tootsie Rolls, but I hate Gummy Bears. (And only the red Swedish Fish, by the way, the rest can go away forever)
I hate lettuce. HATE IT. It feels like chewing on a chalkboard. I have never and will never eat a salad. Ever.
I love animated movies and TV more than live action. That being said, I don't like cartoons made for adults(Family Guy, etc.) Only exception is South Park, which I've loved since high school.
I think coffee is gross. I only drink it when I need the caffeine,(say for late-night writing marathons right around deadline time) and even then I have to make mocha flavor and then load it up with chocolate milk mix just to get it down.
And while we are on the subject of bitter and unpleasant tastes, I don't like dark chocolate. I just don't get the appeal. Bleh. For me, it's milk, white, or none.
I'm a nerd. And I'm not just saying that because it's suddenly become 'cool'. I'm an old school nerd, and have been since before I even realized it. I love Star Wars and have read most of the associated novels, I've been reading comic books for years (partial to DC, but I have dabbled in Marvel, and don't much care for Manga), read fan-fic long before most people even knew what it was (ie. years before Twilight), I love dressing up and will use any excuse to make a costume and rock it (though for the record I hate the term 'cosplay'--you are dressing up, if you can't admit it, you shouldn't be doing it).
I am incredibly creative and crafty, sometimes to a fault. I sew, I sculpts, I decorate cakes, and just about everything else you can think of. (Some pics: one of my cakes, the daughter's MLP costumes, and one of my quilts)
I love Superman, and it has nothing to do with the recent movie. I own almost every cannon comic issue (Modern Age) and have read most of the Gold and Silver and Bronze issues too. I can tell you pretty much everything you want to know, including every single reason I hate the New 52.
I don't read much. That is to say I read often, but not a lot of different things. I tend to read my favorites over and over again and only every so often add a new book into the mix. I will also skim a new book and read the end before I will read it completely. I want to know if I will end up liking it before I invest.
I don't understand the thing with women and shoes. Don't. Get. It. Apparently every other woman on earth either has or wants a closet full of shoes. I have a total of 8 pairs. One pair of sneakers, one pair of running shoes, two pairs of flip flops, a pair of black slip-ons, boot-like winter shoes, and two pairs of dress shoes with (low)heals. That's it. What do you need endless amounts of shoes? And no, I'm sorry, no shoe is 'cute'. It's a shoe. And guess what? No one looks at your shoes. Unless you show up in sandals in the winter or hooker boots to work, no one is going to remember what your shoes looked like.
I don't drink alcohol and I've never been drunk. I don't like it--honestly I don't see how anyone likes it. It tastes like something you should wash your kitchen counter with, not drink. I can tolerate a red wine if I am out and someone orders a bottle (what can I say, peer pressure is a botch), but I would never order one for myself.
I don't eat vegetables. Pretty much ever. I like green bean casserole during the holidays, I like corn, but that's about. I know I should, and I do make my kids eat them, but I don't.
I live on spoilers. I have to read the spoilers for movies, books, TV, and anything else before I see/watch/read them. part of it is because I want to know if I will like it, and part of it is because I don't like anxiety, like for instance when my husband and I watch any competition show on TV (The Amazing Race, Project Runway, etc.) I have to either look up the ending online, or skip to the end and see the outcome then go back to the beginning and watch it. (Hubby will usually leave the room)
I have heart disease, have a pacemaker, and have been declared clinically dead for a grand total of 14 minutes so far in my life. (spread over four different times, 5 minutes, 4 minutes, 2 minutes and 3 minutes) I never saw any white lights or anything like that, but I do have a print out of my vital signs for one of the times when everything quit. Some people think it's morbid, I think it's kind of cool.
Last but not least, I am 30 years old. As of today, actually. It feels like I should be grown up, but I don't feel like one. I don't do grown up things, sometimes I don't even understand grown up things, and I still feel uncomfortable calling adults by their first names. I don't even like calling my daughter's preschool teacher by her first name and I'm pretty sure I'm older than she is. I don't feel grown up, feel the same way I always have. But on paper I am an adult, so to all the other 'on paper' adults out there, here's to us. Watch a cartoon, skip the broccoli, and have some cake on me.

I'm Back! (and I've got some fun stuff...)
Remember me?
I've been locked away in the editing cave for some time now, but I have emerged victorious, and I have loads to share! With the release of THE SEERS less than three months away, there will be a ton happening over the next few weeks, including a Blog Blitz for THE HOLDERS, THE SEERS cover reveal, some awesome giveaways, and even a pretty cool preorder incentive for THE SEERS! (how does a free ebook with scenes from The Holders written in different character's points of view sound?)
It's all around the bend, so stay tuned! And in the meantime, a first look inside THE SEERS is up on Goodreads here, so be sure to check it out!(and tell some friends! ;-D)
XO!
