Top Teen Supernatural Stories, Book, Trilogy

ExplosionMDcover2Young adult , supernatural, paranormal, time travel adventures inspired by the author’s true-life experiences.

This is for real. Many years ago, after my father died, there were a lot of paranormal events that happened in my family. At the time, my wife and I didn’t believe in the paranormal but that soon changed.

In fact, Barb and I spent several years after Dad died investigating such weird occurrences. In the end, we had so much research material that we wrote a nonfiction book about it all and even did radio interview/call-in programs across the U.S. and up into Canada.

That book, An Explosion of Being: An American Family’s Journey into the Psychic, was published across the world by a division of Prentice Hall.

But more recently though, I decided to write a series of fiction books for young adults and adults young at heart using my paranormal experiences as the inspiration the wild and crazy plots of those books. As an old history teacher, I couldn’t resist creating this fictional world for young people.

Today, the title of that series is The St. Augustine Trilogy and it takes place in America’s oldest and most haunted city in the U.S., St. Augustine, Florida.

Trilogy Graphic - blogTrilogy Description

Lightning strike blogFollow the two teens as Lobo, the Native American shaman, tries to protect them from powerful forces beyond understanding. Be there when Jeff and Carla discover the depths of reality as well as their own powers to reshape what they find.

Two of the three books in the trilogy are available in both print and eBook formats at the moment, with the third book due for publication in 2015.

I’ve also include the book trailers for the two books already in print so you can get a real sense of the characters and the plot.

Below all that, I have included active links to some of the most interesting blog posts I’ve written on the paranormal.

Enjoy.

Seminole Indian Wars – Inspector General Reports

Assistant inspector General reports made to THE Inspector General: 1817 and 1835-1836.

Dade blog 5As a member of the Seminole Wars Foundation, it was my pleasure to transcribe some of the original military status reports of the U.S. Army during the early years when Florida was still a relatively wild territory. I am publishing these documents with the permission of the Foundation in hopes of offering some excellent primary sources material to students, researchers and anyone else who might be interested.

It was the job of the Assistant Inspector Generals to visit the various forts in Florida in order to:

Analyze the status of the forts themselves
Assess the condition of and need for supplies and equipment and to
Evaluate personnel

The reports were made in booklet-like journals and, of course, in longhand.

All locked up and ready for any attackTranscribing those documents wasn’t an easy task because of the various writing styles, the fading of ink, the compactness of the writing, and the periodic unclear words. But in the final product, I kept each line of words exactly as they were written, which makes them look very abbreviated on a regular sized piece of paper and on a computer screen.

There was no way to reconstruct some of those unclear words so you will find a lot of question marks.

A little friendly conversation to lessen the tensionOverall, this isn’t fun reading but it does offer some wonderfully detailed insight as to exactly what was going on in those forts of old. And because of my interest in the Dade battle of 1835 that triggered the Second Seminole War, I found it interesting when I discovered the mention Francis Langhorne Dade. This was when he had the rank of Lieutenant in the year 1817 instead of the rank of Major that he had time of his death in 1835

The 4 links below offer you first the original and then the transcription:

Seminole Indian Wars -Primary Documents
