Paranormal Experiences: Banging in the Cupboard

This post about one of his paranormal experiences is from my  French friend Patrick Delsaut.

Patrick Delsaut

In 1991, I was awakened several times one morning by a rapid, repetitive knocking coming from a cupboard located at the foot of my bed. It sounded like someone banging with a small hard object on wood but with a particular resonance. Very unusual. This happened on many days, always in the morning but they stopped when I awakened.

At that time, the houses on either side of mine were totally unoccupied so the sounds couldn’t have come from the neighbors. However, the history of those people, especially the ones who used to live on the other side of the cupboard, made me wonder.

You see, it had recently been the home of an elderly, mentally ill gentleman who died there, violently. At one time, he lived there with his elderly mother. The police found him dead, sitting on a chair in the middle of a room whose walls were sprayed with blood as if his arteries had exploded. Very strange indeed. Restoration plans for this man’s house had been made but work had not yet begun. The place was still empty when I started hearing noises in my cupboard.

The other former neighbor, who was about the same age as the first, had also died recently. He also lived alone but his elderly, mentally ill mother had stayed with him until her death. Here you see a contrast with the first neighbor I mentioned. Mental illness plagued both households, the son in one and the mother in the other.

These two neighbors, whose destinies are strangely close with regard to time of death and the aspect of mental illness, might suggest that there is a relationship of cause and effect. In short, let’s not mince words, it sounds like a ghost story! Ghosts who would have given repeated blows in my cupboard! Indeed, it’s troubling but something in me says that’s not it. It looks more like a Poltergeist (“knocking spirit” in German) than a ghost.

Those knocks that awakened me several times, came from inside my house and not from inside the houses of my neighbors. That was very clear.

Of course, I tried to reproduce these sounds using my hand, nails, a pencil, a pen, a screwdriver, etc., without success. None of those matched what I heard. These had a subtle resonance quite particular, both clear and deep, close and distant, impossible to reproduce.

Like other similar things that have happened to me, I have no final explanation as to the cause of this knocking.

Paranormal Communications: After Death Helper

In my paranormal explorations, I have found that it often takes a lot of time for a channeled message or a psychic prediction to make any sense. One such piece of information came long ago  during the years my wife Barbara and I were writing our book, An Explosion of Being.

During a session when Barb was channeling an entity named, Ollie, this message came through:

“You (Doug) teach the philosophy of death during your sleep periods to many who have passed over in recent times. They look to you for reassurance that all is well on this plane. Your students on earth have been your students here. They are with you on both planes for two purposes.

One is to develop the physical mind and the other is to develop physical rejection of life. Your duty here is to help others understand, as I am helping you. While their lives show neglect of spirit, they will perplex themselves by discovering their nature within, and explore their potential. We find that death has a wakening effect on those who seek a contact with it. They return to know aspects that otherwise would not have asked for their audience.”

The message seemed to come right out of the blue. We had just asked about the meaning of death and after Ollie (source of channeled information) offered some interesting philosophical explanations, he suddenly gave the message above. It really startled me. I hadn’t expected something so personal, especially an explanation that said part of me was actively involved in the death process. “You teach the philosophy of death,” were Ollie’s words. Wow! Me? No way.

As interesting as that comment from our friend Ollie was, it wasn’t something you could prove. So, I just filed it in the old memory banks.

Recently when I was reviewing some of those old channeled messages from Ollie, I wondered if maybe he could have been right in a way. For a number of years now, since my mom’s death, I have been a volunteer for Hospice of the Comforter here in the Orlando area. I visit dying patients in hospitals and nursing homes. Sometimes, if they are sleeping or unconscious, I will meditate and pray, wishing the individual well. Hmm. Maybe Ollie knew more about me than I realized.

Dade’s Last Command – The Massacre that Started a Florida War

A Book Review

Author – Frank Laumer

Historian
Lives in Dade City, FL
Received  the D.B. McKay Award from the Florida Park Service for “Distinguished Service in the Cause of Florida History”
Reenactor – plays the role of Private Ransom Clark, survivor of the Dade battle in 1835
Founder of the Seminole Wars Foundation

University of Florida Press, 285 p.

This book is a”must read” for anyone interested in Florida’s Seminole Wars. Meticulously researched, it is the best documentation of the Dade battle, the massacre that began the Second Seminole War (1835-1842), ever written. It is a relentless tale that shoves the reader directly into the political world of early nineteenth century America. Author Frank Laumer pulls no punches as he offers readers a stark look at the precursors to war, slavery and Native American removal in frontier Florida.

Liberally quoting letters, interviews and other period documents, Laumer eventually shoves the reader headlong into the battle itself. Using the actual words of soldiers, Native American warriors and an African American participant, Laumer brings all that action into a chillingly vivid focus. The desperation felt by all the participants is made painfully clear and is only exceeded in Laumer’s  descriptions by their  ill-fated bravery.

The author demonstrates his research and carefulness with detail by including extensive end notes, a solid bibliography and a very useful index. The dust jacket of the book is a reprint of Florida artist Jackson Walker’s painting depicting the Dade battle.

St. Augustine, FL: Maria Sanchez Creek and Lake

Maria Sanchez Creek as it used to look in the early days of St. Augustine.

In the early history of St. Augustine, Maria Sanchez Creek ran deep into the current downtown section of the city. Over the years, its farthest reaches were filled in up to the area where Flagler College now sits.

Then in the 1880′s, Standard Oil tycoon Henry Flagler came to town with big ideas of building state-of-the art hotels. But to place his his buildings where he wanted them located, he needed more of Maria Sanchez Creek and its marshes made into dry land.

In cooperation with the City of St. Augustine, and local land developer Heth Canfield, old Henry finally got  his way. Canfield and his crews went to work and filled in the creek from King street to Bridge Street. Bridge Street got its name because it used to cross the Maria Sanchez Creek.

Maria Sanchez Lake looking south

Flagler then put his magnificent Ponce de Leon Hotel (Flagler College today) on the north side of King Street and the Alacazar (St. Augustine City Hall and the Lightner Museum today) on the south side.

Eventually, the City of St.Augustine placed a dam at South Street as a flood control measure which created the present day Maria Sanchez Lake.  What’s left of the creek still flows southward and eventually merges with the Matanzas River.

Your Natural Paranormal Heritage: Part 5, Looking Around You

These are the initial helpful steps you can take right now if you wish to uncover your natural, paranormal birthright. Since you already have innate understandings, abilities, and connections in this arena, what you will read about here is nothing more than initial handholds leading you on a journey of self-rediscovery. In the end, YOU are your best teacher.

This information is adapted from the nonfiction book my wife Barbara and I wrote many years ago titled, An Explosion of Being: An American Family’s Journey into the Psychic. What you have here is just part of a series. The rest of the postings are located under the blog  category titled, “Guidance”. Click here, however, if you would like to access ALL of the articles on this subject in one posting.

Hope you find this beneficial.

1. Coincidences

In your viewing of daily events, take special note of those things people classify as “coincidences.” They are some of the more easily discernible of your inner patterns that will show you an existing structure which may have otherwise been dismissed.

When a “coincidence” occurs, make a rough guess as to the odds against that particular combination of events and then double those odds for any other “coincidences” linking itself with the first one.

Note: See articles listed in the blog categories titled, Paranormal Coincidences and Paranormal and Carl Jung.

2. Life Pattern Analysis

While continually looking at the happenings in your own life, look at those of some other people close to you. As they fight their own battles for existence, you might find it interesting to calmly picture their ultimate purposes, learning patterns, and “coincidences” that they might not be able to comprehend in the heat of daily survival. It’s always easier to view the other guy’s problems objectively, and through that dispassionate analysis, you just might learn something about yourself.

Paranormal Communications: On Death

In the paranormal journey as described in our book, An Explosion of Being , my wife Barb and I were involved in a lot of channeling.  I would ask agreed upon questions and Barb would channel the information. Here is one of the first things we asked about.

—————————————

Q: What happens at the point of death?

A: “You are apt to return to this level primarily by choice. As in any period of adjustment, your soul must replace one level with another. Out of sequence at times, this change will seek to deliver a new period of consciousness for your learning period to become a layered reality.

“When your physical death occurs, your spiritual entity remains intact. It is not partially linked, as suspected, but will remain at a point nearby for a period of time. Should there be a strong spiritual need at that time to complete this process, your spirit will flow according to the entity’s purpose. Your compassion, therefore, for a spiritual entity will be established as a primary motivator.

“The body, in actuality, leaves the spirit It (the body) does not reverse itself since the body’s parts are limited, but the spirit is not. Should the spirit then be cast as a prior image of return for physical life, he will then begin to prepare for this new existence. Away from his own earthly problems, his growth period is now freer to establish the higher knowledge that is needed to acquire full physical respect from any entity that rebounds itself.

“Should your entity (on earth) be placed in a position of wealth, this is a prior choice. For you, what is occurring is a growth process through purpose. Thus, similarly, a spiritual entity on this realm must maintain a process of growth. We are open to outside forces as we are all encompassing.

“After a physical death, these forces begin to control our observant needs, thereby placing them into a priority position. Your physical relatives and friends who are passing through our realm also shall be a comfort to newly passing spirits.

“Your willingness to perceive this period (death) is the primary motivation, again, for its occurrence. Their (those who die) growth patterns are also a way to help you, showing their needs are entrapped through yours. Thus, as your spirit travels here, to greet you, will be your friends, as wished by your self’s supreme being. As your lesson of earthly fear dwindles, the entity then releases these spirits as a need quickly fulfilled.

“The aspects of each layer of death surrounds itself with an act of credibility, thus releasing any previous fearful commitment ‘Thy will’ is done at that point, you see, as your proposed circumstances have then embarked on a new journey beyond that which was totally committed as a goal before your death. These layers are grounded in a reality of pre-conceived surroundings. Their placement has a purpose, thus eliminating fear and doubt of past suppositions.

“While observing a pattern through a demise of earthly concepts, you will learn to accept a more perfect value system, thus eliminating fear entirely and enjoying trust as your only guide in this reality. Be willing to adopt this philosophy as yours: Death has no meaning within itself, but does promote an energy that surrounds its happening, thereby releasing a ‘quick-start’ for the soul’s re-entry program.

“I have astounded many who have come to know a reality beyond death, to form a more useful experience than had previously existed. I welcome this opportunity to share a layer of thought with you both tonight Waiting for life to explain itself has not become a purposeful unit of message here. Life’s net will hold many a thought to awaken a spirit and find a new growth beyond self-righteous physical existence.

“When death occurs, your soul begins to change form with life’s dwindling earthly existence. Slowly, an active partition begins to form a film of recovery for your spirit to cling to. This (film) is placed by your spirit prior to the last entry of that lifetime. Between layers of acceptance, your image passes through a period of waiting for further instructions. This comes as a means of support for your opening into a new reality. This reality then awakens eventually to find a pattern of new experiences for your further awakenings. These patterns are circulating rapidly, thereby decreasing past reservations of challenging unknown presences.”

After Life by Medium John Edward: Paranormal at Its Best

A Book Review

Author – John Edward

Medium & lecturer
Television shows, Crossing Over With John Edward and John Edward Cross Country
Guest on Larry King Live, The Today Show, Oprah, The View
Articles written about him in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, People, Entertainment Weekly
Other books: Crossing Over, What if God Were the Sun, Fallen Masters, Above & Beyond, Infinite Quest, Final Beginnings, One Last Time

Sterling Publishing, 237 pgs.

A fascinating, first person account of life as an internationally acclaimed medium. Very warmly and openly presented, John Edward comes across as the guy next door who is trying to explain AND understand what he does as a medium at the same time.

In chapters with titles like, “Living on This Side”, The 9/11 Factor”, and “Papa, Can You Hear Me?”, this author offers readers the constant assurances that life continues after death. He includes key psychic readings done before thousands of people or in private in order to not only demonstrate that fact but to actually prove it with his transmission of incredibly accurate details. Whether its readings for famous people or family members of 9/11 victims, you can’t help but be touched by what Edward reveals.

Often telling stories about himself and his family members, Edward clearly lays out how communications with those who have passed out of this life can be highly beneficial and instructive. Again, using examples in his own life and in the lives of others, he shows how it is never to late to change attitudes, patch up differences or come to closure.

One very important thing comes across in this book and it is the heartfelt responsibility John Edward feels when transmitting messages between worlds, not only to the living but also to those who are no longer in this life and who are attempting to communicate. It is a very strong reinforcement of the man’s stance that this physical existence of ours is but one of many.

If you’ve ever wanted to get an inside look into what a highly skilled medium sees and does, this is the book for you. If you’ve ever wondered what problems such a person encounters, you’ll get the straight scoop here.

Your Natural Paranormal Heritiage: Part 4, Preparing the Playing Field

1. Time Out, Meditation, Prayer

Somewhere within your day, find small chunks of time to close out the physical world. It may be the five minutes before the kids get up in the morning, during a coffee break at work, or in the stillness before sleep, but if you intend to enhance your linkage with levels of existence or consciousness beyond your own, this step is essential. Here is your chance to turn down the volume of this world and tune into another.

An elementary step, yes, but it can help to relieve physical stress, establish a comfortable rapport between your multidimensional facets, and open direct channels to an infinite and highly complex intelligence. No one method is best. Search the literature, take a course, experiment, but most of all, create that which gives you a feeling of peace, safety and identity with all existence.

2. Imagination and the Paranormal

After dreams, your next direct linkage into alternate realities is imagination. The playful, creative part of you that sometimes slips into “daydreams” is actually another point of departure into the next level of consciousness. With your physical awareness in control, this is where you can exchange information, ideas and possibilities with your multifaceted self. Through the careful nurturing and positive management of imagination, you can exert a powerful influence on the structuring of your reality, as well as help to unfold your other natural psychic talents. If, on the other hand, you give up conscious control, live great portions of your life within imagination, or concentrate on negativity, then you will be heading for trouble.

Take note of what you see or do within your imagination. This is a very private exploration and you need not share it with anyone unless you really think that might be of benefit, but the process will begin to show patterns of personal emphasis. While many times you are playing with interesting probabilities, on occasion, you actually may be seeing into or creating your future. If the prospects you see are bright, happy, and useful to all concerned, then give those thoughts additional imaginative concentration on a daily basis. If some of the prospects that you see are dark, unhappy, or hurtful to yourself or others, then flood your imagination with one of your more positive “day dreams.”

3. Daily Events and the Paranormal

Within each day, week or month, many events will show themselves as indicators of your spiritually determined purpose for being in this life. When spliced together, these indicators weave patterns of your multifaceted learning needs, often showing how your patterns connect with the purposeful experience lines of other people. From the ups, downs, hassles and ecstasies, you will begin to observe an incredibly complex and interdependent organism.
