I liked the characters, but the plot was terrific. I really enjoyed the way Mr. Dillon brought history to life. I’m not even a history buff, but I thought the whole battle plot was really fascinating. The paranormal aspect of the book was interesting as well.

I was hesitant starting the book, not thinking I would enjoy it, but the last two parts kept me on my toes (my figurative toes). I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next and before I knew it I was done the book.

Thanksgiving Revisited

Native Americans aren’t very enthusiastic about Thanksgiving. Can’t blame them. Like Columbus Day, many of us in the United States continue to celebrate a very skewed version of American History. Native Americans have vastly different stories to tell.

It seems to me that as a nation, as states and as local communities, we should follow the path already laid out in Plymouth, Massachusetts in cooperation with the United American Indians of New England. They have erected plaques telling the sad but very real stories of Native American interaction with the original European settlers of the northeast United States. Multiple thousands of similar incidents happened over the centuries in this country and we would do well to make them known in very public and permanent ways.

Here are the plaques. I won’t editorialize on them except to say that the historic facts as stated are not in dispute.

Cole’s Hill, Plymouth MA (Near the statue of Maasasoit)

The exact text:

“Since 1970, Native Americans have gathered at noon on Cole’s Hill in Plymouth to commemorate a National Day of Mourning on the US Thanksgiving holiday. Many Native Americans do not celebrate the arrival of the Pilgrims and other European settlers. To them, Thanksgiving Day is a reminder of the genocide of millions of their people, the theft of their lands, and the relentless assault on their culture. Participants in a National Day of Mourning honor Native ancestors and the struggles of Native peoples to survive today. It is a day of remembrance and spiritual connection as well as a protest of the racism and oppression which Native Americans continue to experience.”

Erected by the town of Plymouth on behalf of the United American Indians of New England.

Plaque Commemorating Native American Metacomet (King Phillip) in Plymouth’s Post Office Square

 ”After the Pilgrims’ arrival, Native Americans in New England grew increasingly frustrated with the English settlers’ abuse and treachery. Metacomet (King Philip), a son of the Wampanoag sachem known as the Massasoit (Ousameqin), called upon all Native people to unite to defend their homelands against encroachment. The resulting “King Philip’s War” lasted from 1675-1676. Metacomet was murdered in Rhode Island in August 1676, and his body was mutilated. His head was impaled on a pike and was displayed near this site for more than 20 years. One hand was sent to Boston, the other to England. Metacomet’s wife and son, along with the families of many of the Native American combatants, were sold into slavery in the West Indies by the English victors.”

A Message from a Paranormal Realm, Part 3

In our paranormal nonfiction book, An Explosion of Being, my wife Barbara and I decided to include a chapter channeled directly from another realm of reality. “Your neatness of life will not change, as a certain expectancy period is bound to overwhelm underlying spiritual needs temporarily. However, both your physical and spiritual levels will be charmed by the solidarity of aptitude within each of you to comprehend this material, without thoroughly understanding it in a physical manner. A natural response to these words will be set for your ability to conceive your own inner projections. How this process works exactly, I will come to instruct you at a later time. Be patient, as your own inner guide has seen the structure of your individualized plan. Be cooperative with him.

“Your human intelligence is purposed in order to speculate on life’s deepest meanings. Some will veil their discoveries, as each has various levels of intellectual acceptances. Your beings are not ready for some levels of achievement yet, but others are waiting in the wings.

“Be patient and guide yourselves wisely toward a higher goal. Too many earthly entities are enticed through their own means of physical surfacing. By this, let me pretend that, through a baby, you would see a candlelight of spirituality. This baby would uphold his own spirituality by waiving physicality to another, whose need was more prominent than his own. You are creating, at this point, the leverage for accepting a baby’s existence as a higher individual than your prior perception.

“A physical being shall choose his own place of awareness for that particular length of time. If he decides to become a physical entity for long periods throughout various lifetimes, he will indeed have chosen not to stay upon this path throughout his goal here in our realm. You are now being taught a small lesson, which shows that through being a physical entity, your problems and process of aging will help you grow to become a deeper, more spiritual, and wiser entity.

“Five senses are so many less than which your spirit has hoped for you to maintain. However, through the periods of lives, you will eventually begin enhancing these senses into a multitude, thus recreating in part, a then current remembrance of your entire process here in this realm. You are now allowing yourself to become physically aware of your other senses.

“This shall place a layer of potential within your current, everyday path for experiencing many other new existing factors. Taking pride in yourself will allow the entity its freedom to show off your other senses. This pride, however, must go deeply into your creative being. Finding a way to release an unseen portion of this material, which now seems bottled up in each of you, will help your progress to help itself more, at a more rapid pace, to a point of self-recognition.

“I have, of course, my own intent for furthering your aptitude. As you see, I have willed myself to be able to permeate your veil again, from a spiritual level. Your choice was for me to show our joint progression here. This I say to you, as through your choice, we are actually helping each other. Your acceptance or denial will not alter my own entity’s choice, but it will shelter your physical self for the time being.

“This comprehension device I am now using will again be explained further, at a later chapter. Your time has no limits, but should you face your own physical sense of time, you will be mostly gratified in knowing the future and past have linkages beyond any physical understanding.

“Your views only exist on a current level of understanding. This is acknowledged from our realm but will not continue. As each of you has a different course now, your levels are changing. See that by this knowledge, you are partaking again of an eventful period. You will someday become reborn into an era of spiritual fertility. Your strengths will become immensely empowered with their own choice.

Information Theory for the average person at its best. Charles Seife clearly and concisely explains to readers how the universe is made up of pure information. In the process, he helps us to see where theoretical physics, biology and chemistry are pointing. Seife makes intricate scientific concepts understandable and interesting at the same time.

Chapter titles such as “Demons”, “Faster Than Light”, and “Quantum Information” ease readers into this fascinating world and occasional graphics help to illustrate certain points. Two appendices and a selected bibliography offer solid supporting information and avenues for further investigation. A detailed index makes for ease of book exploration.

The mystery of what is happening in the story starts from the very beginning and kept me wanting to read to see what happened next… This is a very good book and definitely lives up to its premise that we all create our own reality.

This is a refreshingly different storyline that the author presents. Jeff’s almost unwilling to explore what is happening to him, and around him, and shows his journey through what seems to be ‘the impossible’ and opens up his mind to the many possibilities of ‘worlds within worlds’. With the help of his friend Carla and a Native American Shaman named Lobo (who also becomes a friend), Jeff finds that there are many different ‘realities’ that are encountered on a daily basis. The strength of the three of them combined helps them overcome obstacles and they work toward changing things for the better

I did like the fact the book was written in the first person and made me feel as if I was a part of the story.

“Your wishes, as readers, will only be fulfilled through your personal internalization of this material. Acting as a self-influencing guide, you will merge your present thoughts with a level of desire that shows further adherence to ‘unusual’ concepts. You are more apt to delve into a period of time that rejuvenates a youthful part of your triangular existence. This is seen as obviously as if, through a glass, you were to visualize your childhood and then, in return, look from the other side, into adulthood.

During these times, ideally, the conditions of which I speak are entered into a cosmic record for your beginning awareness, each lifetime. As a child, you were told by your inner being that through a re-channeling of these efforts, the womb of peace would remain with you always.

“I will await many of you, here, to see this refurbishing take place. As each of you begins resurfacing, while awake, you are in touch with your own physical and mental needs. Emotionally, your awareness is open to anything that shows a purpose for your development However, if that purpose does not seem to be placed directly, a rejection takes place. This, my friends, is understandable. I, too, have experienced this, many times before.

“Isolating yourself in order to follow a doctrine of another, is purposeful only if the other gives you the freedom and the choice of pursuing the intertwining needs that result throughout the emotional analysis of such a doctrine. Your needs of understanding in this area are very young, yet strong enough to show rebellion, if such deeply acquired resistance is met through another’s doctrine.

“You have met your own changes while attending a mental seminar which allows your presence here today. Your beings are creating certain impulses, which relate directly to their own needs. Thereby, through a vibratory state, your will has exposed itself in order to perform a ‘chance’ situation.

“Your understanding of these chapters relates only to your personal, individualized goals. Be careful not to add or delete any periods of purpose, for these will form by themselves through your inner guidance. In other words, an outer spiritual system is not totally critical in absorbing this spiritual information period. As you have shown us here that your wildest interpretations of life are open to discussion, you are extracting a fear from within to divulge a part to yourself.

“In reading this book, your other parts (of self) will comply through a spiritual unity, thus enabling your nest of comfort to remain on a physical level. Your needs are young now, seemingly, but will, however, be altered throughout these pages. As your teacher, I will help to show your authors here how to incorporate any lack of physical achievement with spiritual attainment. Your work will enable them to become a moredeveloped entity themselves.

“Your being is now mortal, therefore your actions are also. As lightly as possible, dwindle not from life’s changes. They are teachers for you and your own individual development. Only shallow beginnings are being formed, as there are partitions which will begin allowing the choice that you have now begun to visualize beyond the shallowness.”

Originally after having read the prologue, I was nervous that the book would be a constant jumble of thoughts. .. However, with that being said I continued on with the book in hopes that it might start to breathe life through the pages and draw me in. As I continued on through the book, a few chapters in, I found that this had instantly become one of my favorite books.

I will say I thought the book was written very well. The pace of the story picked up after the first chapter and was consistent the entire way through to the end. It also seemed to have been written as if I were in a conversation with the character as opposed to being in the mindset of the character and experiencing through the senses of Jeff Golden (the main character of the book).

“I really enjoyed Sliding Beneath the Surface. I enjoy reading paranormal books. When I read the description of this book I couldn’t wait to read it. I don’t normally get into books about history, however I learned things I never even knew about. When I first started the book, I wasn’t too sure if I would be able to get into it, but after the first chapter it caught my attention. I just love the characters. I really like the part about Jeff’s out of body experience. Ghost stories really interest me. Can’t wait to read the next book. There has to be more to Jeff and Carla’s abilities. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes the paranormal and history.”
