Maker Faire Comes to the Netherlands

Screen Shot 2013-10-01 at 3.55.12 PM Groningen's second Mini Maker Faire is set for Oct. 12.

Makers from The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium will all get together in the Ebbingekwartier of the student city of Groningen. Visitors can try their hands on making with tens of workshops, listen to maker talks and watching the spectacular Maker Challenge (think Scrapheap Challenge).

Great Galloping Robots: Muybridge’s Horse vs. Boston Dynamics’ WildCat

wildcat_04_solo_animation_r I'm pretty sure whoever edited this recent video from Boston Dynamics showing their Wildcat robot prototype galloping across a parking lot had Muybridge's work of 120-odd years ago in mind, especially during the slow-motion sequence starting around 1:04. When I saw the video this morning I was struck by the parallels and decided to animate them side-by-side.
