I'm Blue...
Are you now singing the Eiffel 65 song by the same name? If so, my apologies. :)
So, I'm on the hunt. In Lessons Learned, there's a blue house that's fairly important in the story. I was pretty descriptive with it - wraparound porch, columns, two stories, sidewalk, gravel driveway...
I didn't realize how descriptive I was until I tried to find a picture to match my house for the cover and/or book trailer. Sure, I could use the power of Photoshop, wave that magic wand, and turn any house into Sa...

New Look for the Blog!
You might have noticed that the blog has a new look! For some reason, the old template decided to go nuts, so I picked a new layout with the help of my friend, Hayley. The banner at the top was designed by Heather, and both girls are incredible at what they do. I can't thank them enough for making the blog look so beautiful!

What's the Weather Like?
Is your weather as crazy as mine? Two weeks ago, we had snow. Two days before the snow, we had tornadoes. Now, it's 80 degrees. I love living in Tennessee and having all four seasons, but it seems like the seasons are now combining (or being skipped entirely).
I know it's Spring because my nose tells me so. Dogwood trees have bloomed and my sinuses are rebelling. They're beautiful, though, aren't they?
Happy Spring!

Lessons Learned

Coming in Fall 2012!
A young girl needs to spread her wings, but a young woman needs roots.
High school teacher Sarah Bray never thought she'd return to Sycamore Falls, but a traumatic event at her inner-city school leaves her desperate for the sanctuary of her childhood home. Orphaned as a teenager and raised by her grandmother, she had severed all ties with the people of her hometown –including her best friend, Aubrey – in hopes of leaving everything behind her. By returning to her roots, an ...

Manuscript Submitted! :)
My final read-through is complete and the manuscript for Lessons Learned is off to the publisher. Say a prayer, cross your fingers, etc. :)
Can you name this leaf? It's a clue. :)

A quick update
Lessons Learned is complete. :)
That being said, now is the time to edit. So it's finished, but it's not ready to submit to the publisher just yet.
But it's finished, and I'm pleased.
Thanks so much for your support!

Lessons Learned
Several of you have been asking for details about the book. The title is Lessons Learned and is scheduled to be completed and off to the editors by March! :)
My goal for the first week of January was to have the first twenty chapters complete (or as complete as they can be before I pass it off to the editors). With a little help from Christmas vacation (two weeks) and two unexpected but very welcomed snow days, I finally reached my goal. I think we'll end up with thirty to thirty-five chapters...

Writing inspiration
These pictures were taken by me just a few miles from our house. Whenever one of my editors (love you Shay) asks me to be "more descriptive," I sometimes use these for inspiration.
