Soundtrack for Hold on Tight

I couldn’t have written Hold on Tight if it wasn’t for music. It inspired everything from the storyline to the characteristics of my characters. The followings are the songs that inspired Hold on Tight: This first song I used to remind me of what is was like to be young and free: Court’s song to Emma: Nash’s song to Emma:  [...]

Get to Know Nash

Hey, my name is Nash Harrison. I’m originally from Northern Michigan. When I was twelve, my family and I moved to Monticello NY. Life here hasn’t been easy, especially with my family but I don’t want to get into that right now. I’m seventeen years old and just finished my junior year in high school. [...]

Get to Know Court

My name is Court Dobberson, and  I’ve lived my whole my whole life in Cypress Oak. I just turned 16 in April, and my parents gave me a new Mercedes as a present. I love my new car.

My favorite bands are: Blink 182, Kings of Leon, and Dave Matthews

My favorite movies are: Iron Man, The Hangover, and Pulp Fiction

My favorite TV shows are: Shameless and The Family Guy

My favorite color is: Blue

Yes I have lived a good life, but I didn’t realize how empty I was until I met Emma. I hate to admit that I didn’t really notice her at first. The truth is I’ve been in school with her since kindergarten, but didn’t really notice her until the 10th grade. Getting to know Emma has made me fall hard for her. I was afraid she was not ready to date after the heartache she just went through, but I was wrong.

When she finally decided to be my girlfriend, I knew my summer was going to be awesome. We’re both working at Fairland Park, which my father happens to own. He couldn’t believe it when I asked him for a job. It only took him minutes to realize I was doing it for a girl. As long as I was working this summer, he didn’t really care what I was doing it for.

Emma’s not like any other girl I’ve ever dated before. She doesn’t care what kind of bag she carries or what’s the latest trend. Her way of dressing up for a date is wearing jeans and a T-shirt. She’s simple and I love that about her. My friends are not crazy about her, especially Christy. She gives her a hard time every time she sees her, but Emma can hold her own, which makes me like her even more. It really has been great spending my days with Emma this summer.

Lately though, I’d been feeling her pull away. It’s scaring me. I don’t want to lose her after just finding her. There is a part of me that doesn’t trust that guy Nash she works with. I don’t know what it is about him, but I don’t like him. Maybe it’s the way he looks at her, as if he wants her for himself. I hope it’s all in my head and we can end this summer still together and happy.

Read Hold on Tight to find out how my summer turns out, and if Emma and I stay together.
