Where Is Home For You?Where is home for you?By the time I was 10 I knew that it was bad to be a gringo in Colombia.I knew enough in Europe to keep my mouth shut so people wouldn't spit on me for being "an ugly American".When I was 17 returning to the US for my last year in high school, I hated that I was an American. For four years, I was a gaijin or foreigner, literally an outside person in Japan, where just by looking at me people knew I wasn't "from around...

What It Means To Be A Hazon BicyclistToday was so much about exploring who I am, who I am becoming and how I fit into a new community. We called it orientation. It was orientation... Orientation facing East and considering the 3300 miles ahead of us. Orientation to who we each are, where are we home, what are the characteristics of our communities the places we are at home, included in, and love.11 bicyclist and five Hazon staff. Neurotheology: The Intersection of Mind, Body & Spirit
1650: René Descartes stops thinking and dies. Thanks to Descartes we live in a world where people think of mind, body, and spirit as separate. He is famous for saying, “I think, therefore I am.”
Mind-B 1650: René Descartes stops thinking and dies. Thanks to Descartes we live in a world where people think of mind, body, and spirit as separate. He is famous for saying, “I think, therefore I am.”
Mind-Body-Spirit approaches to life including alternative medicine and neurotheology seek to integrate mind, body, and spirit creating wholeness. This is what I do in my Integrative Medicine practice where I specialize in work with people with brain related issues (Parkinson's disease, dementia, M.S., Huntington's ataxia, diabetic neuropathy, autism and more).
In my writing and poetry at SpokaneFavs, an interfaith news site and my column, Community of Humanity in Inner Child Magazine, I seek to find connections between my whole self, my community and larger world.
By first understanding, "who I am" then looking around and really seeing the people, animals and natural environment, I seek to become connected and contribute to inner peace and peace in my world. ...more
