9 Sneaky Things That May Be Clogging Your Pores
You already know that accumulated sebum and dirt will end up as a zit or blackhead and that touching your face often can lead to breakouts, but these habits are not the only culprits you have to watch out for. While we don’t want you to be paranoid, we reveal the other things that can also clog your pores. Read on to be vigilant!
Smog
Metro Manila’s air is polluted, and if you’re commuting, you can’t help but be paranoid of the carbon monoxide particles sitting on your pores (worse when they're mixed with sweat!) as you wait for your ride. Our tip:Â Wipe away sweat with a facial wipe or wash your face as soon as you get to your destination.
Dirty hair
Your tresses can transfer dirt to your face. Notice the zit on the sides of your face? It’s time to wash your hair, girl.
Your sunnies and eyeglasses
Who knows how many bacteria colonies are living on your glasses? Use an anti-bacterial wipe or a tissue soaked with alcohol to disinfect your frames.
Your moisturizer and sunblock
Using the wrong type of day or night cream can be too thick or rich for your skin. If you have oily to combination skin, gel formulas similar to Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream (available at Greenbelt, Power Plant Mall, and SM Makati)Â are the best. Normal to dry skin will benefit more from cream formulas.

From Our Readers: To The Guy Who Left Me For His Ex
You came from a 4-year relationship before we met that sophomore year. Too many secrets were kept and too many lies were told so there will be no reconciliations, you said. I was hesitant to let you in because I knew I was the potential rebound.
It took me almost a year to believe that everything was over between the two of you. Almost a year to admit that I already fell, too. It was a crazy roller coaster ride with you for almost three years. But I had to end what we have because your ex was still around.
I got tired of saying everything was okay. I got tired of settling being the number two. I got tired of not getting what I deserve. I got tired of being the rebound.
...The Different Stages of Getting Over The One That Got Away
Most people have that one special person, that one great love that just didn't work out. Maybe it's because you two can't agree on most things or because there are just a lot of things going on in your lives that you don't have the time to work on what you have. Maybe he messed up or you messed up. Maybe it just wasn't meant to work out at this time.
The Candy Girl's Guide to Making Friends Anytime, Anywhere
Scene 1: It's your first day in college and you don't recognize a single face in the classroom you're in.
Scene 2: You're in your first workshop and already you feel out of place. Everyone around you is greeting each another like old friends.
Scene 3: You're at a party and your friends left you alone to meet some friends they know outside. You're standing near the wall and you see someone approaching. What do you do next?
When you're thrust into a new environment, it's a bit of a challenge to try and shake off your shy girl instincts and meet new friends. Often, we become so attached to our own barkada that we don't try to meet new people since we already have our own set of friends. If you're one of those people who need a bit more help in expanding her circle, here is a step-by-step guide that can help you in painlessly overcoming your fears.
...From Our Readers: Because I Write About Every Guy I Like
For the first time, I felt like I'm claiming something I never owned, wasn't supposed to, but felt the guts to grab it—my feelings towards you. I've been juggling worries and masks all month long, looking like nothing but a fool.
In Math class, I told myself you weren't part of the equation I tried to answer. But whenever I asked why, it equates to you. In geography, I found a secure place with distance as my friend. You were miles away yet my heart yearned for a bus ticket to trace back the road and follow you. In English class, I stuttered my way through my speech because all I told were lies. I did not speak of your name to try to erase my mistakes, but I ended up with a blank page. My hand held the pen and owned it. I wrote your initials. In History class, the teacher spoke about the records of the past and how some people changed the world. Ideas became inventions and rocks to magnificent structures, a stroke of a brush to an art painting then I wondered. If I spoke a little louder, can I divide a state, unite a nation, break a law, be heard and lose a voice? If a drop of an apple can shift the course of the world, does admitting to myself I like you start a history? Because like the apple, I fell.
