Weekend To-Do: Brush Up On Deets To Meet Daniel Padilla and Your Favorite Summit Books Authors

Weekend To-Do: Daniel Padilla Fan Con Promo

So here's the deal, if you've got the most creative Daniel Padilla fan sign in the world, it's time to upload it to our Snaps gallery dedicated to this promo. You can upload as many entries as you want in a day (just make sure they're different fan signs) from NOW until August 15 (that's Thursday next week!). One successfully uploaded fan sign (there will be a message confirming this once you've hit the submit button) is equivalent to one entry. A user can only win once (we're raffling off 50 passes to the Daniel Padilla Fan Con on August 18) so make sure it counts. Good luck! :)

5 in 5: Gretchen Ho

She was a well-rounded college gal. Although volleyball and her academics as an Management Engineering and Communication major were more than enough to keep her occupied, Gretchen was active in orgs such as the Ateneo Christian Life Community (ACLC) and school events like  the Freshman Orientation Seminar (OrSem). She also managed a food stall in the JGSOM Student Enterprise Center and dabbled in modeling.

She fights for education. Gretchen, an inspiration to plenty of young people, is a very strong advocate for education. "Education is the foundation of everyone. I want the youth to believe in education and see its importance, [to be] something they won't take for granted," she says. "If you don't know a lot, people will take advantage of you [and] your view of the world is very limited. If you're educated, it will help you to become really successful and allow you to help other people as well," she adds.

She already misses being a student. Aside from playing volleyball (which she has been doing for the past ten years), what Gretchen misses most about school is the learning environment and just being a student itself.  "At work, you learn a lot, but it's different when you're a student, you just have to be open to whatever's being taught to you not like when you're working sometimes there are risks... But I will definitely not miss the tests!," this fresh grad says.

She's a closet singer! When asked about her talent that people don't get to see often, Gretchen answers, "I sing a lot at home. I sing everywhere. Hindi naman ganon ka-ganda 'yung boses ko pero makapal lang yung mukha ko. I like music, I like singing. It puts me in a good mood and it's also a form of expression."

She's an adventurer. Gretchen likes looking for new places to eat and new movies to watch, among others. “I always go on small adventures and discover something new,” she tells us.

If Life Were A (Teen Beach) Movie...

Teen Beach Movie

If life we're a (Teen Beach) movie, we'd...

Ride a 40-foot wave and end up being transported into our favorite movie.
Sing in chorus at the drop of a hat (or a coin into a jukebox).
Wear dizzyingly color-coordinated costumes with our friends.
Change outfits in a snap but have absolutely no control over said outfit.
Dance on top of chairs and tables and rock formations like it’s the easiest thing in the world.
Forget little tiffs after a song number.
Prove once and for all that April Young is omnipresent.
See for ourselves how cute April Young—sorry, Grace Phipps can be. "Oh, bonkers! Are you two together? I would never take another girl's boy. That would be stealing, and he would probably be very hard to return."
Literally fall for knights in shining board shorts (and teeth).
Have very loud confidential conversations right beside the people we're talking about, without them noticing.
Get away with this line: "Do you mind if I join you?" "'Course not. I'd want to join me too."
Be honest. "Sometimes I talk low for effect." Oh, Tanner.
Get our pick of gorgeous beach waves or perfectly coiffed hair any time we want.
Have stages magically appear for—what else?—an impromptu song number.
Twirl around wherever, whenever with zero judgment.
Have sleepovers in fluffy PJs every night.
Avert a disastrous fight with one well-placed tear.
Defeat the nefarious plan of the villain with one well-placed hairpin.
Poke fun at stereotypes. "Why does she need a boy to be happy?" "Oh, I don't know—it's 1962!"
