Oz holiday
Where did the past seven weeks go? As my holiday time in Australia comes to a sad close, and I try to accept returning to wintery, grey France, I thought I'd pen a few random thoughts and pics about my adored homeland.
Morning walks on Corrimal beach with the "crowd".
The scruffy man throwing a ball for his scruffy dog, a green parrot perched on a red and white checked tea towel draped over his shoulders. The fisherman standing for hours on the shoreline and never catching a thing, his wife reading her Kindle under the parasol.
The army of dog-walkers on the dog-friendly part of the beach, the smiley mutts speeding along the sand after balls, and getting dumped by breakers onto the shore.
The mums jogging behind 4x4 wheel strollers.
Carving Happy Xmas into the sand to send as a Christmas card.
Pelicans perched on the lampost by Towradgi pool crapping on my book, my thongs and my towel!
Blue bottle stingers bobbing ominously on waves:
Beach, BBQs and drinks with long-time friends.
Catching up with family. Lunch with Mum and Dad:
Organising my daughter for uni, buying her bed, etc for her new flat.
Pink and grey parrots pecking the grass:
Interview and photo session on the rocks at the lighthouse, wearing skimpy dress and ungainly high heels for the Illawarra Mercury who are very kindly doing a piece on Spirit of Lost Angels on Feb 10th.:
New Year's Eve with Jean-Yves, Camille, Marcel and Tonia, down at North Beach, watching fireworks over Belmore Basin:
And more... so much more. If only these kinds of holidays would never end, but home, and my third novel, eagerly awaits.

North Beach, Wollongong
I just love coming home to Australia. Mornings like this: nice walk, swim, coffee and book signing with friends.

Bulli Bookclub
Well last week could be called bookclub week. Spent a fabulous evening at Ryan's Hotel, Bulli, with the lovely Lesley Bennett's bookclub girls. Far more chatting and laughing than actually talking about the book!

Wollongong Bookclub
Last Friday evening, with a touch of trepidation and a small knot of nerves, I went to the Links restaurant on the stunning Wollongong beachfront, to meet up with my first Aussie bookclub readers of Spirit of Lost Angels. The wine and champagne surely helped, but I needn't have worried a bit, the girls were all gorgeous and gave me some insightful feedback into my novel. As the evening wore on, I felt less on the chopping block, and more part of their friendly group, especially during the hilarious Secret Santa present swap. A big thank you to Sharyn, the bookclub's 'co-ordinator extraordinaire', and to my long-time school and nursing friend, Deb Holdsworth, for organizing such a wonderful evening.
