It’s the Friday Puzzle!

coverFirst, an important announcement.  Last week I had an email from Psychology class 13B.  Each week their fab teacher, Mrs Roo, encourages them to do the Friday Puzzle.  However, Mrs Roo is leaving this week and so they wanted to say…..‘Goodbye Mrs Roo, we will miss you! Love from 13B’!

OK, to the puzzle.  As ever, please do NOT post your answers, but do say if you think you have solved the puzzle and how long it took. Solution on Monday.

How many squares are there on an 8 x 8 chessboard?

I have produced an ebook containing 101 of the previous Friday Puzzles! It is called PUZZLED and is available for the Kindle (UKhere and USA here) and on the iBookstore (UK here in the USA here). You can try 101 of the puzzles for free here.

New approach to sleight of hand….

This year I had the pleasure of spending time with magician Yann Frisch at the Essential Magic Convention.  Yann is developing a novel approach to sleight of hand, and this is a wonderful clip of him in action.  Enjoy!

Answer to the Friday Puzzle!

coverOn Friday I posted this puzzle. If you have not tried to solve it, have a go now. For everyone else, the answer is after the break.

An odd one this week…..

There is a small town in California called Yreka. There is a little bakery in town that opens at 8.30am and closes at 5.30pm. The bakery is world famous. Why?

Because the ‘Yreka Bakery’ is a perfect palindrome! Did you solve it?
