Being who you are called to be
God doesn’t make molds. We are each of us unique. Designed by Him for His Glory. As this article points out all God requires of us is our obedience to Him and the call He has placed on our lives.
Why Switchfoot won’t sing Christian songs.
What a great example Switchfoot is for those of us who are following God’s leading in our lives.
They are TRUSTING GOD to lead them, and are not swayed by what the “crowd” says.

Believe
“The only thing that stands between you and your dream is the will to try and the belief that it is actually possible.” – Joel Brown
I have met so many different types of people while working at retail jobs. And as they told me their stories I noticed that they often had one blaring thing in common, their inability to see success in their future.
They did not believe that achieving what they dreamed was really possible. So when that difficult thing came along, right before their victory, like it always does, they quit instead of pressing forward to the success that was waiting for them.
I know this because I have spent the first half of my life being exactly like they were. I have quit on myself more times that I care to say.
Then I realized that it is true, quitters never do win. That I had keep pressing in, to not give up, that right around the comer lie what I have always dreamed of.
If you have a dream, and it is feasibly possible, (i.e. no one can turn into a butterfly and fly to France…no matter how hard they try) than don’t stop pursuing it until your last breath. Because remember The only thing that stands between you and your dream is the will to try and the belief that it is actually possible.

“I hated every minute of training, but I said, “Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.” — Muhammad Ali

Talent
“If you have ability in a certain area,
why not capitalize on it and improve it and use it?”
— Wilt Chamberlain
I believe that we are all given certain gifts and abilities for a reason. That reason is to use them for the betterment of others, and if we are blessed in the process so be it.
If you are not sure what you are good at, think about what you like to spend time doing, or talking about. If you start there then you will soon get to where you need to be…
It is not usually easy at first, to develop your talent, it may take hundreds of hours of practice before you see results, but you will see them it you do not quit.
To many people do not reach their full potential because they to easily give up.
You and I are not like them…we will get to where we need to be, even if it takes awhile to get there!!

Keep trying
There once was a writer in the making. She did not have much of anything, but she had a great imagination and lot of tenacity. Despite living in poverty and the depression that can come with it, she worked hard and finished her book. She then sent it to a publisher, believing I’m sure, that they would sign her right away. But she was let down when they did not sign her. Undaunted she sent it to the next publishing house, and again was rejected. This went on and on until she had racked up a total of 12 rejection letters.
Twelve! That is a lot of disappointment, A lot of heartache and hopes dashed. A lot of writers would give up at this point. Actually a lot of writers would quit after one letter. Yet she kept going and it was to the next Publishing house that her book Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was finally published.
Like J.K. Rowling, you have great things inside of you…

Overcoming…
“Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.” - Joshua J. Marine
We all have challenges to overcome and this photo is a great example of how people handle them differently.
Some of us are like the girl on the left. We have everything a person could ask for., a nice home, loving family, food to eat whenever we want, and even braces to straighten what is crooked…everything. Yet, when we are faced with a challenge (great or ridiculously small) we break down. We think it is the end of the world, when oftentimes only an attitude adjustment is in order.
What the girl on the left had “to over come” was a tiny problem yet she thought it was huge because she was focusing on the negative instead of the positive, the child on the right was faced with huge problem (shoes are important for the health of our feet, and the use of our feet are important period) and came up with the best solution possible.
If you are faced with a challenge ask yourself
“Am I focusing on the negative? What are some positives about this challenge that I can learn from and grow with?

Faith Jegede: What I’ve learned from my autistic brothers
Faith Jegede tells the moving and funny story of growing up with her two brothers, both autistic — and both extraordinary. In this talk from the TED Talent Search, she reminds us to pursue a life beyond what is normal.
“Normality overlooks the beauty that differences give us”…Wow!
So many times we are so concerned with trying to be “normal” that we miss the beauty of who we are.

Inspiring
How big is your “Want to?”
Years ago I watched a person on TV who was talking about motivation. He said “Sure you say you want to lose weight, quite smoking, etc but how big is your want to?”
He then went on to describe how we can say that we want to do all these things but if our “want to” is to small, change will never happen.
So the prerequisite to change is having a big enough reason to “Want to” do it.
One way that we can cultivate the desire to change is to make a pro/con list of reason for the change. Seeing it on paper is often all one needs to grow their “want to” into a “can do” and then a did.
